Thanks a lot Pete! I just would like to comment on what have mentioned:” You as Australian love to explain & repeat if somebody like us have difficulty to get you during conversation”. The truth is just as Young said we feel embarrassed, well let’s say that you ask once & they repeat that but, you can’t each time do that! otherwise, they’ll feel like!!! It’s not going to work. However, I know you guys are so kind & like to help. But, for us it’s just that feeling make it a bit hard to be more involved before having that confidence that will let you in without thinking too much what they’re going to say about me! At the end as you said it needs practicing & it’s not easy until you’ll make it happen! Sorry for my too long post, I just feel that I’d like to share my thoughts 😊
This is great. I had similar experience when hanging out with local friends that I couldn't understand what they were talking about because I didn't know the background and I felt embarrassed to ask and also guilt to interrupt the conversation flow. I think I'd try to ask a bit more otherwise I cant learn.
I've been in australia for almost a year and this is my first time to see a non native asian guy speaking english with australian accent! haha especially with that type of australian accent because usually ABC have a more neutral accent. Good work!
I've learned to speak English in contemporary RP accent. But I always loved the Aussie accents!! Although I like it better on guys, girl voices in Aussie accents can sound a bit nasal.
Sorry mate he sounds more Aussie than you!! I'm ABC but learned English off my school teachers and from watching tv which in the 80s had a lot of British stuff on, so I have a really cultured accent (also #adelaide) and lots of people tell me I sound British, which is a bit annoying!
This China, Austrailia, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Myanmar, SL, upto Papua New Guniea belong to Tamil people during BCE... and time has come to reclaim them back to Tamil people....
"strong" isn't equivalent to forced. His accent isn't even that strong but regardless there are plenty of other native aussies who have just as much of a "forced" accent in terms of how strong it is.

Isn't Yongi a thoroughly pleasant and engaging person? I wish I had students like him!

He genuinely sounds like an Australian born Chinese, from the Eastern states. Massively impressed.
Amazingly good accent, Yong!
Great questions and accents!

It depends on the environment and the friends around you I guess.
