And no matter what I did, racists' perception about Asian didn't change easily. When I acted who I am and it's different from what people think Asian like, I heard only that I'm different. Australia, Canada and New Zealand are most immigrant welcoming countries in the world. Students from all over the world migrate to there and after completing their study, choose to staying and becoming citizens.
I am Greek living in Melbourne since 2019. Being lucky having citizenship from my mum i felt no racism. You can feel that people are gentle but there is something on the air depending on each one's ethnical background. Generally the Australian government shows zero tolerance in racism
I have enjoyed listening to what has been openly discussed and having spent 20 years living and working in various parts of Australia I can agree in the most parts of what you say. However, at no time was the real elephant in the room ever discussed, that is the disgraceful attitudes openly demonstrated by many white Australians towards the Indigenous people of Australia. My best friend was Indigenous, I have lived and worked around parts of the indigenous population in various places in Australia and became tired of having to constantly bite my tounge to avoid confrontation between my work mates and other white Australians, even with those in authority, Police etc. We have even seen Australian politicians show their true colours when they encounter issues relating to the indigenous population. It is disgraceful and ugly in it's purest form and was the main reason I left Australia, because I knew it was a battle that I alone could not win. I would suggest that the majority of white Australians have little or no real understanding of indigenous culture, beit of mainland tribes, or Torres Strait Islanders resulting in opinions formed out of ignorance by those who couldn't care less. When I am told by others that they are not responsible for the plight of these people today, they demonstrate that really they do no give a dam. What they fail to accept is that they vote for politicians in elections, who then make the political policies that will favour, or go against indigenous people TODAY and not just from past events. A number of years back Australia was challenged by the UN to clean up its act, but since then matters have been allowed to fall by the wayside. Australia should not consider itself alone with this type of criticism as the US is no better with its treatment of the American Indian. In this day and age there is no excuse for this kind of abusive attitude to be allowed to continue, so why is it still the case? .......... FEAR and CORRUPTION!
In my opinion, the answer to "Is Australia Racist?" is both "yes and no", depending on which aspect you want to focus on; So not racist, in terms of recent government policies, which is inclusive of everybody and non-discriminatory. But Australia had an official racist "White Australia policy", which only ended in 1973. Furthermore, even today there are still a a lot of racist individuals (and all kinds of groups) who still have a racist view of the world. Two groups are the One Nation party, which started off as an anti-asian party, and another group is the Australia First Party, run by a white supremacist by the name (Dr) Jim Saleam. The irony is that this racist Saleam pretends to be a white European / Greek, although it's widely known he has lebanese heritage.
The thing is it is often ' new ' Australians who are overtly racist toward other ethnicities too. I work in a very multicultural setting so witness this daily. Everybody likes to say its just a white Australian thing but that is simply BS.
Man in all honesty everyone speaks about racism in Australia but the reality is we are all except for Aboriginals from different countries. We fight more then the actual people who where here first its ridiculous. Ofcause everyone has a bit of racism in them. It's like when people say they don't judge it's rubbish we all do we can't help it but it matters to what degree. Everyone should live in peace and harmony this world belongs to no one we are all just travelling through until our end.
I don't think we should be abiding by human nature at all when it comes to matters like this. Human nature is dark and if all revert to "monke" as they say then we will slowly but surely start creating environments that reflect that. They say humans being are naturally xenophobic or non monogamous etc and etc.. Look at chimpanzee societies who live naturally as close to monke as you can get. Is that really the type of example we should seek to emulate?
Australia is a racist country no doubt about it shamefully, I'm a very proud indigenous Ozzy man. In fact she made a good a good living from it.but yes at times she could hear the comments and laughter but mum didn't let a dumb thing that detour she form her job. My mother had a very funny since of humor, everyone who met her instantly made friends. And warmed to her loving and careing personality But at the same time there would be someone making racist remake's behind her back of course.so no matta if you've worked hard all your life racism well not be far behind, its a real shame .first of all you invade our country then have the ordasady to great us like animals that you tried very has to put down like dog with rabies.😡🤛🤜👊🤬

@@AussieEnglishPodcast Aww you're so kind. I am so relieved to hear that! Thank you ♡♡♡
Australians are pretty racist, no doubt. But its quite survivable if you are not aboriginal.
That’s because you’re European
As a chinese in Australia, no.
@@AussieEnglishPodcast Yeah mate
Most Australians are I’m afraid
Can i please have a script of this podcast!!
Yes most white aussies are
In my opinion, the answer to "Is Australia Racist?" is both "yes and no", depending on which aspect you want to focus on; So not racist, in terms of recent government policies, which is inclusive of everybody and non-discriminatory.
Everybody likes to say its just a white Australian thing but that is simply BS.
it ain't natural it is taught
Man in all honesty everyone speaks about racism in Australia but the reality is we are all except for Aboriginals from different countries. We fight more then the actual people who where here first its ridiculous. Ofcause everyone has a bit of racism in them. It's like when people say they don't judge it's rubbish we all do we can't help it but it matters to what degree. Everyone should live in peace and harmony this world belongs to no one we are all just travelling through until our end.
@Charles Huang no excuses. Humans ruin everything it's simple
Your argument might mean more if they didn’t accept the handouts.
Australia is a racist country no doubt about it shamefully, I'm a very proud indigenous Ozzy man. And I'm not all that dark I'm considered half cast" its a shame that racism is deeply rooted in our beautiful country. I personly cope it daily.my poor mum was very dark and she copted it a lot and she was a sucesfull singer. In fact she made a good a good living from it.but yes at times she could hear the comments and laughter but mum didn't let a dumb thing that detour she form her job. My mother had a very funny since of humor, everyone who met her instantly made friends. And warmed to her loving and careing personality
But at the same time there would be someone making racist remake's behind her back of course.so no matta if you've worked hard all your life racism well not be far behind, its a real
shame .first of all you invade our country then have the ordasady to great us like animals that you tried very has to put down like dog with rabies.😡🤛🤜👊🤬
Yes
Iam glad to hear that there's a country that discriminates chanise after what they did to African s during corona pandemic

I like how you have less then half of population of the US but you still say that lol. That said most of the western world holds that sentiment now.
