Absolutely love how the fireplace turned out ❤and the rug is beautiful but I agree it does clashes with the fireplace due the greenish gray tones it has at least what I can tell on the video
Change the rug to a plain broadloom with no pattern. Pick one of the darker shades in the flower arrangement you have there. Taupey/rusty colour. It will do wonders to warm up this otherwise cold room.
I was thinking the same thing. Go with tones of the flowers. I love how the fireplace turned out. I have 2 fireplaces and would love to do something like this!
No on the rug. It's clashing with fireplace. Also, everything is mostly lighter in shade so you need a slightly darker neutral to ground your space. Especially with the light flooring.
I love the rug. The pattern is not overbearing and adds interest with your solid furniture and the fireplace does not make it busy rather the fireplace gives you wonderful texture. Love the room
I love the rug, it's soft and subtle and a nice contrast to the muted tones. Once you find the coffee table you're looking for it will blend in to the background even more. Go with your first instinct. I think if you do everything in the same muted tones it can kind of fall flat and start to look like everyone else's fall home. Your thumbnail is what grabbed my attention and is so beautiful! Your fireplace looks amazing. You guys did a great job!
Hi Kenzie. You and Nick always do such great work together! 🥰 It looks so professional. I don't want to add to more to your confusion but you know that feeling you get deep down in your gut when you are questioning something you have decorated with? Well, I personally believe that feeling is the truth to the way we feel. If I place something and I keep going back and forth, I know that it has to change. The rug is beautiful but I really think it has to be less busy for this space. We have to trust our inner thoughts and the fact that you are questioning it makes me believe you will not be comfortable with it in that space. I hope that makes sense.
Good job on fireplace wall! 🙌 I'm sure you've decided by now on rug, but a nay from me. I honestly think that a more grounded, muted, earthy brown base tone, lesser of pattern, would be more pleasing to the eye. 🥰
We did the same faux brick diy for our fireplace last year and I love it! The new rug is beautiful, but I actually think it looks a little too cool toned/blue for your space.
Hey Kenzie girl, I’m no designer. I am so impressed with the fireplace. I agree the rug is a little busy but I actually love it. With kids it will show way less too! I mean I know it’s washable, but it’s still a pain to do it if it were very often. I think do what’s in your heart tho. If you think it’s too busy and they persist past the time of return, that would suck!
Love the fireplace. I would get a different rug with a burst of color. Or get a jute rug and layer a smaller colorful rug on top. I would also get a coffee table or a small table pulled up to each sofa.
I think the room looks great. Very restful and calming. If you're getting a coffee table in a darkish wood that would finish the room perfectly in my opinion. X
I love the room, I think you would benefit from a little color on the walls, either some curtains or prints. And continue with the neutrals on the floors.
I love the rug and think it looks good in the room. The fireplace is dramatic but also subtle. That doesn’t make sense I know 😂 I don’t think the rug is too busy at all. Live with it for a minute if you can and see how you feel when you aren’t focusing on the fireplace so much bc you are getting use to it
Oh wow that turned out BEAUTIFUL! I like the rug i dont think its to busy at all i think you should go with one that has a darker background color. I love the direction you are going in with your style
I Love love love the fireplace you did such an amazing job!! I have a “cookie cutter” house and doing these interior design changes makes such a huge difference - love your style!! As for the rug I can see how the patterns can look busy - I think it looks nice but a more muted pattern would make the rest of the decor pop rather than the rug be the focal point. Granted I know you have little ones and pets so choosing a rug you must take that into consideration as well. But overall you are doing a great job on this space 😊
thank you so much for this!! 🫶🏼 i totally agree with you. i want to make the decor & fireplace the focal point and the rug is kinda stealing the shine there. i was thinking it would be great for my kiddos because it would hide stains well 😜
I love what you did to the fireplace, it looks fantastic! Love your choice of flowers and decor. Yes I love the rug, and it does go with everything. Although I agree with you, I think another one in a bit more of a muted colour would look better, and finish off the look.
Love love everything u did! Looks fantastic. As far as the rug I think a natural color in a jute rug would look fabulous!!! So love watching your channel ❤️😇 Cindy
Beautiful job on the fireplace! I agree with you that the rug and the fireplace pattern are competing with each other. Maybe you could layer a solid rug over the new one.
Love the room and the rug. Have you thought about bringing the sofas away from the walls a little bit and putting a dark (for contrast) rectangular or large square coffee table in between them to be utilized for both sofas. Everything seems to be against the walls other then the two side chairs. Once you get a coffee table it wii complement the room and the rug won’t be the first thing you see. ❤️❤️❤️
thank you! i prefer to have them up against the walls to have more space for the kids to play/run around 😊 i think it would feel too crowded if they weren’t against the walls tbh! but i will try it one day 🥰
The room looks beautiful…it’s hard to decipher about the rug because you have nothing to compare it to, the rug is beautiful…if you find another one you think better matches then put them next to each other to compare the difference. Have a blessed day…💗💗💗
thank you, you too 💗 i’ve been looking at different options that’s more neutral toned and a more subtle pattern, i’ll share some other options over on my instagram soon so we can have a vote 😂🫶🏼
I absolutely love the rug and the room came together so nicely. Love it and that mirror is so pretty. I love how simple everything is. I vote leave the rug
I have the huge brick wall that separates my kitchen/dining and living room. It became too dark and overbearing as it is 20 ft long and 20 ft high at the peak both sides. I used kilz primer and baking soda as a german shear and oh what a difference. I love how yours turned out, as well.
I think you should put the couches closer to each other with a coffee table in between, that would make it more cozier, they are too far apart. Your living room is beautiful!
Great fireplace transformation! What if the couches both came off the walls a little and a coffee table got added? I know that it might be your walkway but maybe there’s enough space to pull it off?
I can see how the rug and the fireplace clash a little but I think if you would add a good size coffee table in there it would make the rug more subtle and would bring out the fireplace more as your focal point. Also maybe adding some art on the tv could bring the focal point up to the fireplace as well.
The room looks great. I would reconsider the rug. Something the color of your jumper would be perfect, but not too busy. It really does look great though. You two should be proud.
Brilliant idea on the fireplace!!!! Absolutely love it. You are also right on point about the rug. It’s beautiful but not for this room. Follow your instinct on that one. Need something that will ground the room and as you stated, less busy. Thank you for sharing your inspirations with us. Love that “girly” mirror too 😊
Hi Kenzie, great job on the fireplace shmear! I have a suggestion regarding your couches. I would move them both away from the wall and put a coffee table or large square ottoman between them. I would try this out before you get rid of the rug. It may cut down on the busy-ness of the rug next to the fireplace. If the couches stay where they are with no coffee table, I agree that the rug competes with the fireplace. Could you use the rug in your bedroom?
The refresh looks amazing!! But I do agree a more solid rug or one with more subtle patterns would look better. Also, are you putting a coffee table in? That might help break up the busyness of the rug.
I love how the room came together beautifully! Love the fireplace. The rug is gorgeous! It would stay be beautiful if you left it but I see exactly what you mean. Personally I think the coziness you’re looking for in this room maybe adding some pleated curtains. I know you didn’t ask🫣 but when you changed the fireplace I saw curtains and a more neutral rug. But overall you did an amazing and I’m loving your inspirations! ~Betty
love the idea of curtains!! makes it so homey and cozy 🥰 we used to have some but my kids literally torn them down 😂 it’s not practical for us right now but i’m waiting for the day we can get our curtains back!! thanks so much for your input 💗
I don’t think the rug is that bad, but you could probably find something better. Love the fireplace! I recently did a shmear technique for my kitchen backsplash. I put the joint compound in a Ziploc bag and piped all the seams, then shmeared from there. I thought it made it much easier. Love the room!
Glad I found your channel. You have a beautiful living room and I love the fall changes. As for the rug, I’m getting more of a modern kind of contemporary vibe from the pattern. Love the colors though! Good luck!
I love how your fireplace came out! You guys did such a great job! I actually love the rug and I think once you put a coffee table, it won't look as busy. I just love your fur babies being so nosey and seeing what you guys are doing lol Is your white dog a sheep dog? He's adorable!
thanks girl! he is actually a poodle! his hair has never been this long 🤣 he's actually getting groomed today so he will look more like his stanley self 😜
I'm new to your channel. I love your style 🎉 I sort of agree the rug might clash slightly maybe a more muted pattern with a little brown added? Beautiful space !
This turned out so good! I have a very similar couch and chair so it's fun to see how you styled everything. Rugs are so hard! I think it competes with the fireplace. The fireplace is the center of attention. Maybe something with less of a pattern for a rug? It's still a beautiful rug though. Have you had a washable one before? I debated on getting one since we have a dog.
this is our first washable rug! honestly it’s more padded than our other unwashable one, and seems more practical for us! it’s superrr low pile which is easy to spot clean too 😊
Oh girl! Love love love how it all turned out! I also love the rug but they are too much of an investment to not be 100% sure you love it. So live with it a few days and send back if you’re not surw
I love both the fireplace and the rug. I do get what you’re saying. I do see the clash. It seems like they’re both fighting for the focal point. I think the old rug would have the same effect. What about moving the rug further away from the fireplace. Very awesome space.
Great job with the fireplace! your hard work certainly paid off. I would exchange the rug. I think that you need to find something more muted with warm colors. Have you ever considered long drapes on your front window?
The rug looks great in the room, but I thinking if you could find some pillows with more color (something along the colors in the flowers on the side table) would liven up the place. It’s looks a little cold right now. Add some warmer colors on the shelves besides the fireplace also. Maybe even a little greenery. Otherwise a gorgeous room
Love the fireplace you and your husband did an amazing job. Can you link your vacuum please? I have to ask does it do well with filtering. I have severe allergies, I usually use a rainbow vac although since my bilateral mastectomy I'm unable to vacuum and my family does not like pulling out that rainbow vac and then cleaning it. Hope you and your family have a great week
here’s my vacuum link! i LOVE it. we’ve had it for years and years and it’s held up great. you do have to replace the filter every once in a while but it’s easy! one of the BEST things we’ve invested in, she’s our tried and true 🥹🫶🏼 rstyle.me/+Q8VMDAzdyYMk9KF7ShPQbw
I love the rug! You need to have some contrast, otherwise everything would just blend into beige. Once you get a coffee table it will hide a large portion of the pattern.
ok you GUYS!! i need alllll your opinions on the new rug! what do you think, keep or exchange?! 😌

It’s looks a little cold right now. Add some warmer colors on the shelves besides the fireplace also. Maybe even a little greenery. Otherwise a gorgeous room
thanks for this!! 🥰
I like the rug. It grounds the room, otherwise the furniture would just disappear into the floor since Everything is light. You need the pattern
i’m worried about that too!
Love the rug
thank you!
Beautiful good job I think you just need to fill up the pillows of the couch they will make the couch look nicer 😍👵🏻
we gave up on this couch 😂 i’ve just accepted my fate with it looking like this with my kids. we need a new one 😭😂
I absolutely love the rug, but agree that it clashes with the fireplace. Whereas if you still had the shiplap it would have been perfect.
right?! 😭
@@kenziemac Big hugs 🤗❤️🦋
I love everything
thanks dee! 🫶🏼
I love the rug! You need to have some contrast, otherwise everything would just blend into beige. Once you get a coffee table it will hide a large portion of the pattern.
thank you!!
Beautifulll I love it ,🥰🥰🥰🥰.maybe if you put a curtains ,it is my opinion I like the rug ❤️
we would love to have curtains again one day!! when my kiddos are old enough to not tear them down 😭😂
I don't think the rug clashes with the brick but personally I'd go with something a bit darker.
The brick looks awesome btw
Beautiful ❤❤
