I’m surprised you didn’t talk about the kick drum pad. Aside from the bungee hooks, your pedal clamps onto a metal plate that fits under your kick. It’s not the most secure system, but works well enough. I got a set of these to replace the Sound Off rubber pads I had. These are night and day. Very responsive and really durable. Worth every penny of your investment.
Great review. I have a set of these (along with the Sabian Quiet Tone’s) & they’re a game changer! The ability to alter the tension is what separates these from the other practice systems. I have my rack tom tighter than my floor which is what the actual heads are. So the feel is the same as well as the tone. And they last a REALLY long time. The mesh is very thick & durable and that center patch just goes the distance. Worth. Every. Penny.
Tiago Drumming Thanks, Tiago! Actually, I've not. I was hoping for something like black hole that I could use with my current setup. I've tried laying a thin layer of rubber on them (like commercial silencers) but they badly stained my cymbals.
+James Edwards A lot of companies have different cymbal mutes. I know bates has some for sure if you are just looking for something to go over your existing cymbals.
Drum Beats Online Thanks, Gabe! I'll check 'em out. I guess I assumed they were all like Evans sound off (which discolor my cymbals...BIG deterrent!). Thanks also for your great vids to help drummers get better!
Do you have any videos of you playing drums when you were like a kid or a teenager. If so I think it would be a cool video to see how much you’ve progressed on drums.
does it shorten up the beater travel of the bass drum pedal because this just goes over the rims. I would think that would mess with your bass drum playing
Hey, can you give more insight on this? I need to silence my drums but the RTom Black Holes are way too pricey. What you describe seems like a good option
@@zairaivanna2271 Go to Pearl Drummers Forum and go to the General Forum and search for Remo Silent Stroke heads and my username (carmangary). I put a lot of details in that thread that should tell you all you need to know. If you have more questions let me know and I will be happy to answer.
This was useful. I've been looking for ways to mute my kit because i live in a college dorm with 3 other people. Is there something i can do to my kick drum so that the vibrations don't bother the people downstairs?
And i have tried to find it in american online shops, even through i live in Europe, but even there are the prices that high when i try to check the American distributors that Rtom has on there website
I appreciate the play along track that sounded like it based off of the black keys! I am have been seeing such great things about the practice systems! Thanks for the great review!
Great review Gabe! I was thinking about buying the Rtom kick drum to set it up in my bedroom.... I´m tired of playing with my Roland Td-4 Electronic kit, the Roland plastic kick drum, i feel like is messing with my bass drum technique.... What´s your thoughts about the kick drum rebound, did you find the RTom Kick to be realistic and not super bouncy because of the Mesh Head? I´m really considering investing in this but it is soo expensive that i really must evaluate if it´s worth or not the investment :) ... I need to better my bass drum technique , i bought the Aquarian Super pad for the snare and it´s doing wonders for my snare technique, currently looking for the same on my bass drum... If you could help with your opinion it would be much appreciated. And sorry for the long comment, lol! :)
+Tiago Drumming These are all great things to consider! I'd say out of the box you are going to get a little more rebound out of the kick head than you normally would. But you can loosen the tension on the mesh head to get less rebound if you'd like. So that could be a good option!
Tiago Drumming just wondering if you bought the RTom for your bass drum, how did you get on, and do you think they would be good on tom and snare too compared the superpads. I'm planning to sell my TD25kV but want the most realistic feel as possible (without the noise)👍🏽
The bass drum pad does not work well at all. The tom and snare pads work great. The bass drum pad doesn't fit right and doesn't allow the bass drum pedal to directly attach to the bass drum. The bass drum pedal attaches to a metal plate they supply you that rests underneath the bass drum which forces you to readjust the bass drum and pedal constantly under hard playing. Buy the tom and snare pads but buy a different manufacturers bass drum pad.

Black Hole Sun cover with the Black Hole heads????
+Andrew Watters Haha love it.
The fact that it shows how the system works on wood hoops is really relevant. Thank you

Those double strokes around the toms sounded REALLY freaking good! Keep up the hard work man as you inspire a lot of us who watch your videos!
Hey thanks so much! I'm excited for all of the new videos ahead!
Gotta buy the L80s too tho☹️
are they usable with Roland's RT30 drum triggers??
That's great for the drums but what about cymbals?
Great review btw!
Hey James, have you checked out the Zildjian L-80 Low volume cymbals? I´ve seen great reviews on those cymbals... Hope that helps! :)

Is it compatible with agean low noise cymbals in terms of volume?
Does it sounds good for an acoustic concert? With an acoustic guitar?
Do you have any videos of you playing drums when you were like a kid or a teenager. If so I think it would be a cool video to see how much you’ve progressed on drums.
That's a cool idea! I'm sure I do!
The drums sound so cool with them on!!!!
Can you play black metal with those
what is the rebound like on these
Just got one of those for my snare drum and it works very good and great video keep up the great work!
Nice James! Thanks for the kind words!
Hi Gabe, how about the Remo Silent Stroke? Maybe a comparison with this one will be awesome and useful for a purchase decision.
does it shorten up the beater travel of the bass drum pedal because this just goes over the rims. I would think that would mess with your bass drum playing
I made my own by glueing some patches on Remo Silent Stroke heads. Basically the same except that I can't just pop the off.

I love the sound of your floor tom! What kit is it included in?
Thanks! It’s an ayotte drum kit.

+Atheon, Time's Conflux I'd try out the black hole size for the kick drum! Should remove the vibrations as well.
Thank you so much! I needed this 🙏
Where did you get that price from? I have not been able to find it for less than 300 bucks. The bass drum pad alone costs around 120.
And i have tried to find it in american online shops, even through i live in Europe, but even there are the prices that high when i try to check the American distributors that Rtom has on there website
+Kasper Ilsøe Honestly, I filmed this awhile ago and it does seem like the price has been raised since I filmed it.
RTOM? I thought it was rdavidr !!??
+Parker Murray Hahahaha yes!
I appreciate the play along track that sounded like it based off of the black keys! I am have been seeing such great things about the practice systems! Thanks for the great review!
+Andrew Weiner So glad you liked it Andrew!
Your kit seems to not have any snare buzz, how?
Good tuning! I go over this issue in my tuning course on drumbeatsonline.com
Hey gabe is musician freinds a good onlinine place to get cymbals?
Yup! I've used them a lot!
What beat was played in the begging
Jada Swift he made a video on how to play it
Brendon Minchew what is it called
What's up with those toms' Rims?
+Naveh Raz They are rubber rims, super quiet if you play them.
Drum Beats Online The Drums, right? Not the Black Holes' rims?
+Naveh Raz The drum rims are wooden as explained in the video.
are you still playing for i prevail?
Yup! On the road with them right now!
Awesome, see you Tuesday in Montreal!

+Drum Up Sounds fun!
Drum Up I think Lars Ulrich just did that on this US tour this year when they would play Seek and Destroy
amazing video...
+Ryan Govender Thanks Ryan!
Can you do a 32nd note tutorial and an exercise to go with it ive got a piece in my band saturated with them and in really struggling.

Ok thanks
You're welcome!
