Kayak Camping ~ Lake James State Park

  • I enjoyed a kayak camping overnighter with my good friend Bobby Darrin at the Lake James State Park in North Carolina. We reserved one of the paddle in spots right on the point. The paddle to this spot took about 45 minutes or so. A beautiful spot to hang our hammocks or tent camp. There are 30 camping spots at the Long Arm Peninsula. Tent camp or hammock camp. Plenty of trees to hang your hammock if you want. You can only get there by boat. Each camping site has a picnic table and a fire pit. Also, there is a pit toilet here that I didn't show in the video. You have to make a reservation online.

      Bobby is the greatest adventure companion ever (Shane & Randy & Pete & Brian & Chris & Mark & Thomas all the others are a super close second) because Bobby cooks. Bobby brought my steak & mashed potato's and he also cooked breakfast which included bacon. (please refer to the bacon drone shot). BTW, has anyone ever droned a pan of bacon frying? I may have stepped into uncharted territory on that. He is my adventure wife when the real one is not around, LOL. Maybe he won't see this. Thanks for taking the time to watch my Pro level video. I was looking for a cabin to rent a while back and I came across a real estate site from Lake James area and man, you would not believe the houses on that lake. I saw one that was like 8 million dollars. Crazy huge lol.
    Anyways this looks like a really cool thing to do. I always wanted to do a kayak camping trip. I like that you can reserve your site from them then paddle to it. Very cool Steve but it does look cold. What a great pro tip haha. Can you still drive to those sites or is it paddle only? I saw that gravel road in the background and it made me wonder.
    Only a professional UA-camr could make this video look this cool and last 17:55 mins.
    Nice tip at the end too. Later friend.

    • @myadventureoutdoors
      @myadventureoutdoors  3 роки тому +1

      From our camping spot I don't think we could see one house. There was a campground/RV Park about a mile across the lake. Yes, it is paddle in only. The gravel road is used by the park. I think you can launch from the state park launch but we launched from a private marina which is a shorter paddle. They charge you to park your vehicle overnight. Still took 45 minutes or so. There is a pit toilet that I didn't show and it was pretty clean. I decided to go over 17 minutes just to feel what a Pro-UA-camr feels when they upload. I'm not so sure I'm cut out to be a Pro. I don't think I can consistently talk 17 minutes about a hammock strap or a ferro rod. I have to accept what I am. My Mama told me to accept the hand that God dealt me. Lol, thanks man! Bobby's tip was good but I'm sure I'll re-do it and claim it as my own.

    • @myadventureoutdoors
      @myadventureoutdoors  3 роки тому +1

      Rob, I wish they didn't play so many commercials. Here's my advice, but it costs a little. I bought UA-cam Premium when it was first offered a few years ago because of the commercials and I watch so many YT vids. It's somewhere around $11 a month. If you watch a lot of YT, I promise it's worth it. I would NEVER go back even if I have to go find cans along the side of the road to pay for it. No ads and it also gives you the no ads UA-cam music app which I use a LOT! Thanks so much for the compliment on the video.

      @@RobBrown2288 That is interesting. I thought Pete was monetizing his videos (I never see ads no matter what). Even not, YT says they will still place ads on videos that the creator doesn't monetize. Well, my videos will cause heart palpitations and maybe YT stuck some extra commercials in there as a safety precaution for the viewers. Let me know if they put in ED vids, I need to have those removed.
