  • Unboxing the new Apple Mac Studio M1 max desktop computer along with the Apple Studio display with nano texture coating 🍎
As excited as I was to get this computer setup up, I decided to have some fun and make a little unboxing video. To my surprise, I would have to wait longer than I had thought before I could start using it.
When setting up the Apple Mac Studio for the first time, you will have to have the appropriate mouse and keyboard to get past the initial setup screen. I was attempting to setup the Mac Studio after unboxing it using my MX Master 3 mouse and a Keychron K2 wireless keyboard. The Mac Studio would not recognize either of these peripherals, wirelessly or via cable. The solution would of been to use the little USB dongle that came with the MX master 3 mouse, but since I had misplaced mine, I was forced to go and purchase the Magic Keyboard with Touchid as well as a Magic Trackpad. If you have a WIRED mouse or keyboard laying around, you should be able to get past the login screen.

For my M1 Mac Mini I had the same problem with my new Satechi keyboard. I was getting pissed thinking the keyboard was faulty lol. I was able to use my old keyboard from my old iMac and got in, then paired the Satechi. Your set up looks great! Even though I know the aluminum casing of your Mac studio is totally fine holding up the monitor, I would be paranoid sitting that weight up there lol. Looks really really good!

Like the stand. I probably would have done it that way too. Looks great and you save around $400 to have it at the perfect height.

Just seems to make so much sense to set it right on top

Yes, I had to use an old wired mouse (Logitech) at start up to then later pair my Apple wireless mouse. I’m still using my old black magic keyboard. White gets too dirty. Even though it’s wireless I have it wired. I always forget to charge it. Lol. I’ve had my Mac studio for five days and love it!

I have a WhiteFox mechanical keyboard and it worked with it perfectly.

NICE!! I couldn't believe I couldn't get either of them to work on initial startup. But I have come to really love having Touch ID on this desktop setup. Kinda miss my K2 for daily use, but my wife does not! hahahah click click click click

I'm posting this in hopes that it will help users with new Mac Desktop M1/M2 Silicon Computers who want to use their existing older wireless keyboards or 3rd party bluetooth keyboards. Before I begin, I want to give a small disclaimer... "During the setup, I was not able to grab any screenshots so you may have to dig around a bit". So let's get into it.
I purchased a new Mac Studio M2 Max, I purchased just the Mac thinking... "I got everything I need already". I got home and began the setup process only to find out that my Older Wireless Apple Keyboard and Logitech K811 Bluetooth keyboard would not connect during the initial setup. I DO HAVE a wired steel series USB mouse. That was working ok, but didn't help much (at first) to enter text. I scrambled to see what I had available (bluetooth or wired USB keyboards) around the house. This didn't help. I called Apple Support, they sent me a link to a support/community article. None of this worked. I just fiddled around a bit while I was chatting with Apple Support. I started to just think and think then I thought what Accessibility options are there? I thought maybe there was some voice commands I could give. Then I remembered something I used once on my old Mac mini. There is an on-screen keyboard that I used and sure enough, I was able to turn this feature on while I was in the accessibilities option during setup. It allowed me to use my USB mouse to enter information to get me past the setup options and to the main desktop on my Mac Studio. Then I was able to use it to create an account, connect to WiFi and finally pair my freakin' bluetooth keyboard. I hope this helps!

The Logitech mouse worked with the USB transmitter, but the keyboard was a pain - tried 4 keyboards; two Apple ones (one USB one Bluetooth) and two non-Apple blue tooth keyboards. Finally, I managed to get it up and running with a dumb $10 keyboard I had scheduled for recycling. I can understand non-Apple keyboards having a problem, but why didn't it detect two Apple original keyboards!?

Do you think the weight of the screen will be fine on top of there like that over time? Looks like a good height.

I was like OH SH*T haha. Also managed to make a small scratch on the front of the mac studio, but it’s a fun reminder of this video every time I see it 💀🫠🥳

Do you think the Nano texture glass is worth it? I’ve not seen it in person yet

    • @JakeEarp
      @JakeEarp  2 роки тому +2

I took a gamble on it since I’ve been very curious about it and have to say I really can’t image going back to the glossy display. No matter how much light you throw at it there never seems to be any glare

@@keesswier212 if you look extremely closely there is certainly a slight reduction in sharpness, but the benefits and ease of looking at the screen far outweighs that small drawback. For comparison I have my LG 5k now setup as a second monitor directly next to it and I always prefer the nano texture. Especially since I have a widow in the room directly behind me

    • @JakeEarp

@@keesswier212 yeah wish I could help more but I literally just decided to go for it since I was so intrigued about the nano texture on the XDR display and all the raving reviews about the nano version. I don’t think you’ll be upset with either monitor your choose. They both look awesome and the speakers really so make it convenient and they sound great when not using headphones
