    Goodness Stanley, RESPECT for posting. If it were me I would have hooked up a chain and towed. I used to deal with this daily in BC and Labrador when we had to tow everything from pickups to 200t cranes up. Clear then tow... you can buy cheap truck chains also... used them for years towing heavy loads with pickups up logging roads. Worked incredible. We also studded ours skid-steers tracks for the winter months. For a grand you would be set for these situations...

    I agree Stan has a great leadership style! I've looked at the first 20 or so comments--why hasn't anyone mentioned tire chains? All you would've had to do is chain up 2 tires and it would've been enough. 4 tires chained would've been no challenge at all to drive out. And the logs that were unloaded out of the trailer could've gone into the back of the truck where they would've helped improve traction to the driving wheels, but by far the most effective action is simply chaining up even if the chains are only used for this one adventure they would've paid for themselves.

  • @rongollonik7754
    @rongollonik7754 3 роки тому +1

    Although everyone worked hard there is only one guy who did not stop until all the work was done. Franky is a working machine. He puts the Energizer Bunny to shame.
    For the 'next' time, could you have pulled the logs over the first hill before bucking and loading them? Then when you got to the second hill you could have unloaded if necessary.
    Stan I like your letting the tools speak for themselves. It does not matter if the engine blows or the pull rope breaks, the saw is down for repairs. It's that weakest link failure.

    Stan, a couple of things
    Why don't you have a strap or tow rope? They work great for pulling logs and trucks. Chains break and break things.
    You need some new tires if you are going cross country.

    I've ran Stihl, Husqvarna, Dolmar, and Echo saws...Looking at the videos, I would say that these saws would be ok for the average homeowner that might use their saw 3 or 4 times a month. For a professional, there's no substitute for having good, well maintained equipment.

      What do you mean empty pickup? There is probably a 1000 pounds of tongue weight on the hitch. Just like carrying weight in the bed. Bad things will happen on slippery surfaces no matter what.

    • @justinbodey7962
      @justinbodey7962 3 роки тому +1

      1000 lbs of toungue weight is pushing the truck going downhills and is being pulled up hill. Tounge weight is different than load weight. Load weight in the truck equalizes to a large degree the load weight of the trailer. With the large load weight in Stand trailer, he has the tail wagging the dog almost literally with the truck being the dog. I absolutely agree that the snow and ice have a lot to do with the issues at hand as well but weight and weight distribution definitely come into play as well and being a little more cognizant of that, in my opinion would have gotten that puppy over the hill and much less likely to jacknife.

    • @RiverValleyLandscaping
      @RiverValleyLandscaping 3 роки тому

      @@justinbodey7962 I agree, even having all the guys hop in the bed of the pickup for some extra weight over the rear tires might have made the difference in traction with a running start, my dads old tiny Nissan pickup which was basically one wheel drive would get up any hilly snowy road while awd subarus were crashing off the road... besides the drivers of course, the difference being how skinny his tires were and the ratio of weight to surface area, wide tires on 3/4 ton trucks like stans basically are only floating over the snow and not sinking down to grip the hard ground

    This why i want to take a 4wd f650 and put a second dual axle under it, more weight so its effected less by the kenetic energy of loads and 10 tires, in the shortest possible chassis configure. I may end up doing it with a f450 or 550 though, either way im gonna have a kitty cat in it and probably paint it dewalt yellow, stihl orange or black heavy bumpers and big blue kobalt boxes on the bed on three sides around a 5th wheel if possible or build a custom western hauler style bed for it. Man.... dreams... also and onboard compresser would allow a person to air down and back up!

Well it either I'm extremely impressed because it work. And then it I'm pleased even though it broke it's worked great until... But it's not designed for that..... And then it's the well this is what it is you have seen what it can do, if it will work for you there you go. LMAO I love it.
    Safety is doing things so no one gets hurt. So if no one gets hurt it's safe.... It says this in the front of the osha safety manual. And yes I don't like the rest of that sentence or the next few so I ended it with 3dots

    I have a 5 speed 2008 ford Ranger 2wd (I know who buys 2wd in Colorado, but the price was right) I was at my sisters and the parking lot at her apartment is SUPER steep and icy, as I was backing out of my stall got to the point where I need to start pulling forward so I don't hit the BMW parked behind me and I couldn't get traction! every time I started to come off the clutch I was rolling closer and closer. I was getting more and more concerned finally my dad got behind my truck and was able to push enough for me to get enough traction to get started and get up that hill!
