I like how you reduced this to a couple notes, working in the 3 note slur comes natural once you get into the groove. I am just a beginner so my impressionable mind is vulnerable to getting over my head. Don't get me wrong his tutorials are wonderful, but I start practicing Fiddlehed's breakdown of the shuffle and I got lost in how to work my way through the major and cross strings. Then after watching your video my brain put it together and I can move away from one string. Speaking of one string, Boil Them Cabbage Down is a wonderful tune for getting into the flow of the shuffle, with plenty of opportunity to mix in double stops with both open drone and two finger chords.
Glad you found this helpful, Zach. Yes, that’s a good tune for practicing this technique!
Great Lesson, thank you for sharing..
Excellent explanation and demonstration!
Thanks so much 🙏
Never met a fiddler who could teleport their bow, impressive
I have used Ga Shuffle often.
Wow, that was awesome, now i really want to learn this technique 🥰🥰
It’s a good one!
Nice explanation.
Thanks!
Nice
I have a question: when you start playing you do the stroke pattern a bit diff to when you get cranking. It looks like you go down up down up down before up up up down pattern starts... why dont you start up up up down?? Thanks in advance if this gets an answer. Good vids from what ive seen btw
Yup thats what i saw too.
👍
Also, show us some tune using this shuffle 🤗
Check out the link to my blog in the description box. My latest post includes a tune using this shuffle.
Hi Think i'm missing something. At the start you say it's an A on the Down then B Up and B Down ( 2.20 ) then you do the slurred Up, but when you get to repeating the passage at 2.50 you say its B is on the down bow. Cheers!
🙃🙂🙃
Is this the same shuffle used in zydeco?
I’m not as familiar with the style, so I can’t say!
It´s used as THAT basic stile in Cajun and Zydeco, but played different. From the bowing it´s like she plays it in the beginning of the video but with a slur on long note. Look for Mitch Reed on youtube.
