Great content chaps! I’m 1 year into my career at Equinix working within our Hyperscale area after moving away from Railway infrastructure after 14 years in construction delivery. Tech is such an exciting yet challenging sector. Looking forward to what’s to come

A discussion between yourself and Dr Nate Hagens could be interesting. Not necessarily about data centers, but energy use and how data centers will fit into that. Eliminating redundant storage. Cost of lease rates (tax?). Demand rise & fall.
    Edit: correcting spelling error.

Love this content. Could you do a video on sustainability/circularity efforts at data centers (i.e., reuse of server components, underwater data centers by Microsoft, and on-site renewable energy). Thanks!

Could you all speak on getting into the data center field without a degree? Concerns such as which certifications would be most beneficial, possible career paths, and time expectations for various levels of professional expertise. I currently work for a company that essentially creates the data halls as in running the fiber and copper, building the racks, patching in fiber and copper, testing and troubleshooting the systems prior to turnover, etc.. Thank you guys!

@mattclark2315 I can’t speak for everyone else but in my case I was able to get into a data center role by building my skills around data center infrastructure. I first started out doing what you’re doing now and every-time I would look for a new job I would try to find something that could get me more time within an already established data center. What helped me was my knowledge on servers switches routers and fiber and copper splicing and terminations as well as testing which it already seems like you know. You can also go a traditional non degree route and go with COMPTIA certs. Anything from A+ all the way to SEC+ and CCNA. Hope this helps.

I'm trying to figure out the difference/relationship between a data center operator like Equinix/QTS, a data center integrator like Compudynamics/CPG, and a GC who builds data centers. Who would be subbing out work to say, a low voltage cable installer. Also the difference between a retail and wholesale operator. If someone could answer this or point me to a good video explaining it, that would be great, thanks.

Great question! We don't a video specifically geared toward those relationships, but we do have one going over the different types of data centers:

We'll put this topic on our list of future videos though. Thanks again for the comment!

If write code for an AI application causing flow control error would it be able to shut down any data center???

If I control just one data center power supply will I be able to redirect the data flow for my benefit...ding dong lmao
