I really like your in-depth coverage of how to use the door tool. Typically if I am creating custom door or windows I have usually just edited them as separate files and aligned them along the X-axis (red axis) and centered them on the origin and then dropped them into the library sub-folder. It never occurred to me I could just edit them within the model. I need to take a look at why the option for alignment in the Y-direction (Framing, Sheathing) does not seem to be have an affect, that may be a bug I've just never noticed until now, thank-you for bringing that to my attention.
actually, that is a question for Nathan: As for the open/close feature: Without building the door component as a dynamic one with the on-click behaviors for open/close, is there a way to use the native Medeek open/close for a custom door?
@@design-build-live3284 The Open/Close feature was added as an after thought and it would be a bit tricky to figure out how to make it actually work with a custom door. I will give this some additional thought, but don't expect a solution on this right away.
Thanks for this, extremely helpful! I went a little further and add in the 2D graphic with the appropriate tag and that worked great, but it also opened up the idea that I can create not only custom doors but also custom 2D, and adding it to a different tag gave me some control over how I show things in 2D plan; for me this solves a small issue that I was having with 2D plans giving the architectural look that I prefer, especially for windows or if I want to show rough openings or the unit size in plan. For now, I have created a door component for varied sizes with the geometry representing where the door would be installed and I can drop in any new door and resave, works brilliantly! I can see even more potential with this ability and modeling more custom items. I just did the same thing with a fireplace insert and it works perfect, even better than subtractive geometry in this situation because it modifies the framing rather than just making it invisible.

Thanks for the great content! Your doors are inside out.
Cool
Bro please help.
I need a good requirement for a fast rendering and modeling in Sketchup.
PC computer not laptop.
