Hi everyone! Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below! In addition, you can download the example models from this series at this link - www.theSketchUpEssentials.com/30Days
Thanks for these videos. I'm learning Sketchup on the fly for work after returning from maternity leave, my previous job became automated so now I'm coming back to be their modeler using Sketchup and I haven't modeled anything in like 10 years. I previously used 3ds max and Maya, Sketchup is WAY easier to deal with so far but its very different and I felt clueless until using your videos for help.
Your video is very3 helpful. I often watch video with subtitles on it. But with your video, i dont even have to use subtitles since you talk clearly. And not to mention every direction you also include every details. Such as “i copy by clicking m, then control key, then i moved by holding shift to this blue axes”. And that is what a non pro like me would find it the most helpful. Thank you and im glad i found your channel 🎉🎉
Appreciate your videos and just wanted to point out in case others are confused like me: I have been confused in multiple videos how to actually edit all instances of the component. If I am not mistaken, I don't think you explained this in the fence video either. I'm not sure if it is a keyboard shortcut you are using to edit the component so it's not visible that you are in a different mode or if the free version is different than pro, but it was not clear that I needed to click "edit component" to have it actually effect all instances of the component. If I just click the component and start making changes it changes it as if it was unique. I had to right click and hit "edit component" to do what is shown.
Thank you so much for you invaluable content - much appreciated. I’m still on day 3 but if I can suggest, put all 30 upcoming videos into a single playlist. Would be great to reference in future. Hope you get the number one spot before the event. 👍🏻
I'm getting faster every day!! Awesome videos!! My question is I'm having a hard time finding the glass and mirrors, or just materials in general in 2022. Is there some sort of library I need to download to get any of that to show up? I'm guessing your using 2021, and it looks a lot different than what I'm seeing.
Hello, your clips are excellent and they help us a lot. I have one specific question. Is there a plugin or some option when I'm working on a project that I have on the screen or that I can call a window that would appear so that I can write some data that I need during work a. Make sure that they serve as a reminder. For example, when I'm modeling the kitchen, I can put some notes without it being a Text or 3Dtext tool.
Justin this is fantastic, thanks. I try to copy your every move, have one through this several times. When I try to move the doorknob it is stuck to the door skin, can't seem to move it on the surface. Thanks!
Thanks for the lessons, learning a lot from it. Question, I’m trying to draw in the window using the rectangle but I need to scroll in and out and and use orbit to get to the next corner, how do I do that without loosing my starting point.
Hi Justin. I hope you see my message. I enter the window component and draw the glass face. But no matter what I do, the glass face does not become a component, and there is a problem when adding material. Should I draw the glass face outside the window component?
I'm on day 5 and have tried to catch how you get the door to pivot. It looks like you change the protractor point; which I don't see how. I select move, but I don't see the + at the right place.
If I'm using a tool say the line tool and I've clicked where I want it to go, how do I exit out of the line tool without clicking another line and then undoing it?
if you chose component that means whatever you do affects other copies (scale, material, delete, or else) grouping means same but does not affect each other, it's just as its name, you make the objects group and you can't change things in it if you don't click twice to enter. Clicking twice means you enter the objects editing panel, you can't change anything outside when you are in. Trible clicking means if you are already grouped 2 things in 1 object, and you want to reach some specific thing you should click triple time. That's all.
I've been waiting since 0200 Houston time for this episode. (I'm an early riser. My cat wakes up early and demands to be let outside. He has important cat business to attend to. I don't ask for details).
Only the other day I had the problem of the push/pull tool making an object hollow, I did eventually figure out that hitting the Ctrl key solved the problem but I'd probably still have a full head of hair if you'd made this video a week earlier 😀

I want to know about the movement of the door. I tried, but it's not working for me.

You really make learning sketchup very easy to us. Simple and effective way. Thank you so much. You are the best
Glad I’ve been able to help!

middle + left mouse is pan on windows :) middle mouse when orbit, and at the same time press left mouse button

Hi Justin! Love your vids. Question: Why did you reverse the face of that window? Cheers! Love the speed of your vids too

Default is space
escape key
What version of SKP are you using? Mac?
I’ve tried endless times however when I select the 'slider horizontal' the window frame is copying as well and its messing up the design .
a little too quick at 3:16. Door shift click. but i can just watch over n over till i understand. But generally excellent explanation
Please explain Difference between group, family, component. In your next video.and also single, double, trible click selection.
Thank u. (

Not asking for details sounds like the correct decision :p

Lol - well at least now you know :)
thank you so much man
Thank you.
I figured out my issue, no worries. thanks.
Perfect!
Thank you
Lol - that was fast :)
Umm. Warehouse. I see it and can click on it but..nothing happens. Did I do something wrong or do they want more money?
In the online version?
At 8:45 you draw a rectangle (glass) while orbiting. How is that accomplished? Bit of a SketchUp noob.
Hold down the middle button on your mouse and move it around to orbit
Thank you
