I just paid $600 to have a company cut and place a white marble top over an Ethan Allen buffet I found and restored. It took the piece to a new level.

If you glue a solid wooden top on the frame, eventually it will crack as the wood dries and shrinks. The correct way is to screw the top from the under side with special hardware that allows the screws to slide in slots perpendicular to the wood grain. The shrinking of wood may be as much as 8%.

Normally I would have run them through a thicknesser to get them that flat. You managed it with just a sander. 😁That pocket screw jig works well. Have you ever used a biscuit joiner? Very quick and easy to use and set up. Can't be used everywhere like the pocket screw setup but saves a lot of time.
