does the drag knob really add more drag strength? I like click pawl drag systems because I think they have just enough to keep the line from going out of control compared to disc drags which I think are overkill for smaller size fish-fly lines... I like c&p on 5wt and below but need something for a 6wt that I will be fishing for small mouth-trout-smaller carp which will require a little bit of drag
Pretty sure it's not the drag knob, but the disc drag system that adds the drag. The drag knob just allows you to adjust. Feel free to call the shop if they can explain or discuss further. Thanks.
There's a lot to say about this new series of fly reels, so thanks for watching and stay tuned for more!
Lovely bit of kit Brian. Look forward to seeing them in the UK👍👍🎣🎣
We'd be happy to have you see one in your mailbox if you like?
The porting and that brown trout coloring, that's a gosh dang good looking reel. Have to get me one!
Let us know. We'd be happy to help get one made for you!
Great review
Thanks for being here!
Awesome reels!
Pretty much all agree. Abel knocked it out of the park.
It makes quite a nice sound for a modern reel, alot of the new stuff seems to lack a decent noise which is a part of the whole experience.
Amazing what a difference the sound of a reel can make in the perception of the quality. This one does both.

Is it a particularly heavy reel? Specifically in the 7/8?
No, it's pretty light. Especially for as sturdy as it is.
I’m still saving for my first rotary fly vise since I started tying at like 8. These reels are cool though.
Let us know if we can help when ready. They are cool reels.
For a US - built, machined reel that price isn’t all that bad. Beautiful reel!
This reel really brings Abel much closer to reality for many. A great reel at that price for sure.
The ACDC reel would be cool to own
Too bad they don't make a Frank Sinatra reel. We're pretty old around here.
@@Madriveroutfitters I'm in my sixties and still like to rock!
Most of us like to sleep.
Good looking reel
Yes they are!
What do you guy's think about the vaya 7/8 for bonefishing? Just wondering if it is a good choice.
- Thanks
Please contact Brian or the guys at the shop directly. They'll be happy to chat about it.
It did win "Best New Saltwater Reel" at the show though.
Very nice! One of these days my wife is going to realize that a call to the divorce attorney may be less expensive than putting up with me!
That's between you two. We're just here selling the stuff.
Like Aluminium butter 😉
Yes....exactly.
Fly fisherman’s magazine gear guide
Yes, as stated.
