Agreed still have my Tab S7+ and I'm not going to upgrade for a very long time. It's still going strong and performance is great.
I have both S8 and S8 ultra. There's a noticeable difference between the two screens but it's not a deal breaker. I use the ultra mostly for media consumption and as a note taking device on my desk, and the S8 for handheld notes and on the go. Gave my ipad pro m1 to the kids. Samsung nailed it with these.
What do you think the Samsung tablet does better than the iPad Pro?

Screens are much more vivid.
Multitasking and the ability to use Dex mode to have multiple apps visible beats apple's UI.
The Samsung writing experience is far better as well. The pens have some give to them that duplicates the soft feel of pen on paper. Apple pencil is hard tip writing on glass. Even with a Paper-Like screen protector it still feels heavy and stiff to write on.

So... does the s8+ fall nicely in the middle?? I'd prefer the ultra screen quality but without the massive size.

@@vyvynylification all your choice, I love the Ultra, if I had to give up every other tablet in my life I'd stick with the Ultra. It's the one I use the most. By day it's a desk pad for note taking, by night it's a media consumption device. I have the S8 for portable work, and some handwriting when I need an extra screen. I'm just saying as far as the displays are concerned, yes, there is a noticeable difference between the quality and brightness of the Ultra vs the S8, but it's not a deal breaker, and side by side with the Ipad Pro the S8 is the better screen imho. Hope that helps.
I never understood why people complained about the LCD display on the Tab S8. These people seem to forget that not everyone can use an AMOLED panel due to PWM.

@@thomasorchard PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) is a high frequency flicker that is common on OLED displays. This can cause headaches for individuals who are sensitive to it.
I bought this tablet yesterday and after watching a few review videos, I got sad because everybody said the tab s8 wasn't good for multitask because of the screen size and that the AMOLED screen was much more incredible. I do not have more money to buy the plus or the ultra version, and your video got me back to life ahaha now I'm happy I decided for the s8 tablet and that I could buy it, because despite it isn't as cool as the plus and ultra, It isn't that cheap. You dont have to regret about it, simply because they're for different categories of people. S8 might have a bit worse worse screen, but its not as heavy as s8 ultra. If you go to a toilet, just a silly example, you wont be able to hold s8 ultra with 1 palm like s8, its just too big. Its basically a laptop without a keyboard. Its just too huge, if you need such screen at home, then maybe you need to think about buying a screen or a tv, because using such a big tablet is just uncomfortable. I'd rather buy a proper laptop with windows, on which i can install proper applications, an even some old video games, rather than buying such a huge tablet. I think tablet should be compact and s8 and s8+ are the best in it. And screen. Screen its nothing. Look how iphone xR was popular a couple of years ago, its screen was way worse than the main line of iphones. Good software is more important than good hardware.
S8 is better my friend. Some of the amoled users will start crying after 2 years because of the screen burn-ins. It doesn't worth the risk for better black colors. You made the right choice.

I got the S8+ for Christmas. I love this thing. I hadn't had a tablet in years and I'm impressed with how far they've come. The Dex mode is a nice touch cause now it essentially feels like a laptop replacement as well

I'm seriously addicted to my S8 Ultra. I thought it was too big at first but i adjusted quickly. Really hated not having back lit keys on my tab s7+, so when sammy offered the ($350 ouch) keyboard free with my trade, i went for the ultra.
Been looking at tablets my s5e starting to get noticeably slower think ill wait for tab s9 news but if its not a decent amount better prolly get the s8. I am also addicted to my s8 ultra lol but I like smaller tablets for reading and other stuff
@@LeoLiburon I do like a small tablet for certain things as well, and sometimes on the go. I was thinking about grabbing a tab s7 as a second option. It's price has come down and it still packs plenty of performance even though it's a few years old. I don't think we see a tab s9 at least for another year.

I'm looking at the Ultra, and 14 inches is never a monstrosity, unless you're like 3 years old. I am full of gear and it's always good to step up your game to have more options. I have tablets, desktops, medical tablet PCs, Macs, Sun, SGI, and everything has a place, especially with open source..Most of us already know that most Mac gear is insanely underpowered for their insane prices.

Got my daughter the Galaxy Tab S8+ 5G with Verizon and it's been great for her.
I am still rocking the Tab S7 and I am pretty happy with it. I would have upgraded to the Tab S8 if there would have been a cellular model.
Tab S7 is solid as well!
The S8 plus offers cellular connectivity I have one through att but the battery could be better that's really the only downside.

I have the S8+ w/5G through AT&T, I like the tablet and use it all the time. I love the DEX feature and the multi-function ability on the device. I own the S22 Ultra and haven't use it that much because I am always on my tablet.
Wait a year until we got the 5G set around here. I had the s7plus wifi but i miss the mobile network support for the tablet. wifi is good but when you are in area where no free wifi is offered... it just... hard. once the 5G version was released... without heartbeat i get it.
I use the Tab S8+ and absolutely love it. I tested both this and the iPad Pro 12.9 M2 and sent the iPad back. Despite being an iPhone user, I think the tablet experience is better with the Galaxy Tabs

Great video. I've got the S8. I love it. Upgraded from the S5e which has the Amoled display. I can't tell much difference to be honest. Maybe with dark colours. Brilliant for note taking.
I've also switched from s5e to s8. It is great tab... For my needs it replaced my laptop in 95%... 11 inch is perfect for me

Just got this and a s6 lite for work and the s8 for home and entertainment . I agree this thing is great! As an apple fan boy I am surprised how much I'm enjoying the samsung ecosystem
Good points and it would make sense especially if you use a Samsung phone and Windows (like I do) but I just couldn't get past the software update timeframe. I just upgraded from my Ipad Air (10 years old) and it did stop getting software updates 2019 (still not bad I got it 2013 when it came out) and still gets security updates, but with the new Ipad Pro 11 (3rd gen) I bet it'll get more like 7 to 8 or maybe even more years of software updates. So if I was someone who changed tablets every 4 or 5 years, ya i'd go Samsung S8, but because i'm more the 7 or 8+ year person I think Apple is a bit safer for the long run. Great breakdown though.
The no backlit keyboard is such an annoyance for me. I use my tablet in lower light conditions more than lit. It's very frustrating.

Not exactly the same thing, I know, but I recently bought a Tab S8+ but returned it for refund. The cost difference over my Tab S7FE simply wasn't worth it. I couldn't even discern a difference between the 7FE's LCD screen vs. the Tab S8+ OLED screen. LumaFusion also runs great on my Tab S7FE. At least in my case, upgrading wasn't worth the cost or the hype.
I like the tab 7FE , battery life is better than the ambled on the s8 plus.
I was about to buy the tab s8 due to its form factor but after seeing the claims and performance jump of 8Gen2, I will definitely wait for the Tab s9.

I have the tab s8 ultra. Love it for content consumption, and the keyboard case makes it great for light productivity.
However, good luck attempting to ever use it in portrait mode. Also not my favorite tablet for gaming unless they are controller compatible games and you are into emulation like myself. Also, the size of it makes it to where it never leaves the house. I prefer my cellular iPad mini 6 for that.
Unless performance craps out or there is a hell of the deal, I won't grab the S9, but if I do it will probably be the base model. Hopefully, they will come out with a cellular mini version one day, because I would snatch one up quick.
How is the emulation on the device? I'm hoping to grab a regular version soon but keep reading how much trottling it gets in games and since I mostly emulate as well, I wanted to know how the tab performs while gaming.
Yeah, my M1 iPad Pro is collecting dust, and I've even consciously tried to go back to it to make myself feel less bad for having it and not using it. No dice, back to the S8 Ultra.
Divinci resolve is coming to the m1 and m2 iPads, there is filmic pro, double take ,I movie, clips and LumaFusion on the iPad ( i have every one of them )you have plenty of video editing apps on the iPad There is NO Samsung tablet that is touching an iPad Pro at all. I have the same iPad Pro and i do everything on my pro with an Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard and stage manager( connecting my m1 to a 65’’ OLED tv as a backup screen) its all about workflow. I know you have the Samsung tablet and all and that’s ok everyone likes what they like but you and i know the iPad Pro 12.9 m1 or m2 will walk any Samsung tablet under the table across the board there is no comparison the iPad Pro with IOS 16 is insane

Just bought one in the UK, the discounts were too hard to resist. £120 off RRP plus £150 off when trading in any old tablet. So I traded in my old Amazon tab that I bought for £120 in 2017. I think it cost me £379 after the discounts.
Samsung tab is absolutely awesome for content consumers as someone who owns almost every top ipad model since ipad 3. Even though samsung Tab cpu chip is massively inferior to the m1 and m2, without third-party app support, ipad are just an expensive brick. Manga and anime app, movie and TV show all in one app, emulator apps, games from ps1, ps2, Gameboy, 3ds, and other are vastly better than nowadays money grabbing mobile games. I made the switch to the samsung tab when Apple removed my 7th manga app, and the anxiety of if the next app will still be in app store the next day.
I liked it alright but it felt too big to actually use, as I'm used to tablets in the iPad Mini size. I find the Fold to be a better tablet for me, though I can't use those anymore because kitten that likes biting stuff that I'm holding. (His little teeth left a dent in my Fold 4 screen protector. Sold it shortly after that.) Getting a Lenovo Legion Y700 tablet instead.

I bought the S8 to replace the S5E, and I did not consider it an upgrade for the $283 after trade-in. The S5E screen is noticeably better due to the AMOLED's contrast and viewing angles. The pen was annoying to keep on the tablet, so I left it off. The S5e is 20% lighter and slightly more compact, with the same amount of pixels. I ended up returning the S8. I'd rather keep the S5e and not worry about carrying a new S8 that is a downgrade. Sure the S8 is more powerful, but that's better on a phone you keep on you, not a media consumption device. An S6 which also has an AMOLED would be more of an upgrade. I think once you have a favorite compact laptop (Lenovo Ideapad 5 14"), a tablet is just for media.

Watching on my tab s8+, loving it so far in spite of minor lags here and there which irritate me. The connected devices option in the settings takes noticeably long to load
I will suggest doing a factor reset once, if you have updated it to One UI 5.0 will fix the minor stutters and lags.

I have the Tab S8 + with keyboard and while I don't like Samsung phones ( I have an S22+ that I absolutely hate) I love this Tablet.

First of all, I love your channel. I have had three Samsung phones and all of them, including this one, have been glitchy. I'm bi-vocational as a safety consultant on my day job and worship pastor/drummer so having a good phone is a must. Because of my consulting gig I travel a lot and need to take pics of trains and maintenance shop safety conditions. The camera has been the buggiest. On one of my latest trips to El Paso the camera caused the phone to lock up and overheat. Overheatiing is an issue I have had with all of these phones. And it just locks up on me while doing the most mundane tasks. I have used iPhones for the most part over the last 10 years but I had a Samsung S10 for a work phone a couple years ago and it was just okay. Since I have a new Lenovo Thinkpad I thought I would go back to Samsung. Maybe the wrong decision or maybe I should either get a pixel or go back to iPhone?

I just got Tab s8, and initial reaction is I'm unimpressed. Coming from tab s7 fe, it's kinda small and gives tab s8 vibes of the Tab s6 lite. I had it for a while, got a Tab s7 fe, and now tab s8...
Well, I traded in for these purchases, so.
Tab s7 fe was just hard to hold in bed, so I wanted to try smaller form factor.
I have the accessories that match tab s8 plus. I thought it was little bigger than my expectations, but ...
I will try the s8 for few days and decide if it still want it. If not, I will try the s8 plus by returning the tab S8. Still this is a learning experience.
Bro how was the battery? Any heating or lag while multitasking?
I own tab s7+ since release. It's a great tablet and I love it but the biggest drawback is Microsoft Office programs. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. They are super uncomfortable to use. Lacks a lot of features. I tried using them but it will take much longer time than working on a laptop to write a simple report. As a matter of fact. The Microsoft word experience on the iPad is even waaay better than the tab s7. If they improved it in the future I can truly say it can replace a windows device.

I find that Android apps aren’t as good as their iOS counterparts. So, an Android tablet is a no-go for me. I own the 11” M2 iPad Pro and am very happy with it. So, I won’t “forget the iPad Pro”, as suggested.
Most people use their tablets for media consumption and browsing the net. When it comes to watching content,nothing beats the S8 ultra.
@@henenkumbe2133 That may be, but some of us like tablets to do some creative things, too. In my experience, iOS apps perform better than Android versions, so the only Android apps I have are on my old Samsung Note 8. I like the quick transfer of video files (via AirPlay) from my iPhone 12 Pro Max to my M2 iPad Pro for cleanup, then to my MacBook Pro for final video editing. I may look at a Samsung S8, if I get a tax refund this year. 🙏

@@TechOdyssey Yeah Juan Bagnell has done videos on lumafusion on Android devices and found that the Pixel 7 Pro is the best perferfomance on lumafusion even better than the iPhone 14 Pro apparently.
When you use that keyboard from samsung as the cover, do you still need a screen protector for the tab itself? I heard Samsung's display is great even without it.

I have the S8 Plus and the keyboard case with trackpad doesn’t have a lit keyboard. Big disappointment for me.
I would get upcoming S9 if it was the size as iPad mini 6. Otherwise I do not see the point of owning a tablet at all. Just get the MacBook Air instead if you need a bigger screen and you will have all the power apps.
For the S9 series, it would be great if they add some texture to the SPen button so I can feel around for it at night, and location technology so I can see if I left my Pen or Ear Buds at church again. I don't need better cameras, but I could use a docking station like Google and Amazon.

@@RatchetRorschach It's a speaker device you attach the tablet to, it has additional ports. You can use it as a central hub to control your whole house, that you can move around, it can speak to you about phone messages, appointments, control your lights, control house temperature, provide recipes, assist with video calls and so on. Amazon does this already.

I have the s7 which is a great tablet. That said, I just don't use it at all. My phone is large and I do my coding and gaming on my laptops.
I so badly want this to be cellular. I wish they would make a stonger 8 in tablet but I could step up to 11 in if I had to. But the bigger tablets are just to big. Really wish they would add cellular to this model

I just bought it today for my son 😅
I hardly use my 7+ 5G.. I only regret not getting more ram. Even looked into Korean version for the extra 2 gigs... So when I look at what the trade in value for the cellular model was, all I could do was say "no way". Even if I got respectable value for the unit, it does mean I'll use it more. To seal the no deal , was the like new zfold3 . It's big enough, fast enough, affordable and I use my note20 ultra5G as a primary use. So, as greedy as my desires are, I'm fine with that "trio" being my "Duo " experience.
The hot chips , the battery life experience, the wifi 6e, the extra gigs of ram.. all that is tolerable when I get my head wrapped around my usage and extra cash outlay .

They are in a completely separate class, year, and price point. S8+ is OLED. S7FE is LCD

Screen protection? What do you mean? The 7 has gorilla glass 3, and the 8 has gorilla glass 5, if that what you mean.
Naw, I love my ipad. Works so well alongside my macbook. Maybe not perfect but it’s the closest duo that comes to perfection.

I have the s22 ultra but for tablet i go with ipad pro,for some reason android tablet isn't it for me.I tried the s8 plus but noticed stutter,little lag,definitely not as smooth as my ipad pro.The fingerprint isn't really good and accurate like on the s22 ultra and the battery life isn't as good as my ipad pro 11 inch
Battery life sucks and the tablet does occasionally lag but the multitasking blows iPad out of the water in my opinion

@@Joker-yu5kp I agree with the battery idk if it's because I have the cellular model of the tab s8 plus but I get better battery on my phone which is ridiculous. Hopefully the s9 tab with the snapdragon gen 2 processor solves both the battery and performance/lag issues. I'll be upgrading next month depending on price when it comes out. Also not sure if you returned yours prior to the android 12L and 13 updates but multitasking is even much better now that there's a taskbar dock at the bottom like on the fold 4. It literally is unparalleled now in that regard. Not to mention you still have Samsung Dex which can have its own set-up which basically gives you 2 UIs in one. I prefer the stock with the taskbar now because with that you can add folders to the dock compared to the dex ui you can't. I had an ipad mini 6 twice and returned both because the fold 3 and 4 were so much better
@jaquez carter my tab s8 plus was wifi only so i don't think the problem is only cellular model but let's see how they will improve the tab s9 lineup. SAMSUNG really to focus on battery and ui optimization, that's one area where they're struggling compared to apple
@@Joker-yu5kp I agree even with the phones I have a fold 4 and s22 ultra and they both have ok battery life but not as good as my iPhone 13. That's really the only downside in my opinion.

Totally agree, the S8 is great - to me anyways, I find it a massive step up from the Galaxy Tab A I had before and (admittedly ancient) iPad before that.
Got a real good price at Christmas with a trade in deal from the store (Currys) and a cash back from Samsung shaving a huge £366 off the £649 sticker price.

My only (very, very minor) complaint is that I ordered this in bronze and they sent me black. Yes, it should have been corrected, but we were only in country for a short period of time and I didn't want to run the risk of not getting a new one in time. I'm such a fan of Samsung Galaxy tablets that I'd rather suck it up than lose out on having it. In the big scheme of things, this rates an irritant factor of .0000000001 out of 1000. In other words, I'm not looking at the colors when I use it, so I got over it very easily.

@Julie GC I've managed to get s8+ for £460 with some great discounts and tab trade, what will get for that money from apple? Ipad 10 64gb for £499 comparing what money can buy features for the money samsung is much better deal to get.

@@TechOdyssey You mention video editing, Davinci resolve is on iPad and is industry standard for pro users like me who work in Hollywood and do film for a living. Far more powerful than lumafusion. What Apple has done is truly incredible.
