Hi Jason - yes air drying them can be done prior to adding salt. I prefer a softer bait that breaks down quickly releasing attraction. Trouble is with air-drying then salting. Can make the bait very hard.

Really depends on conditions, time of year storage ect. But a minimum of 2-3 weeks.
