I've been using the original 4DFWD for over a year now for gym on intense 1 hr long elliptical training sessions 2-3 times a week, best shock absorption i ever had on my feet, eva, etpu, air, zoom air, nothing came even close. And after complete break in after all this time it still preforms just as well because the midsole is so durable, it even lost the squeak it had when it was newer and now when i walk it is dead silent.
Yeah I honestly didn't even think about these for elliptical but it makes sense with the motion of the machine - glad they're working well for you still

Hearing about it all made me all excited about shoes and I really want to try these now that it’s not just a gimmick. I have last year’s 4DFWD model and I love them. They’re the best running shoes I’ve run in, and they’re also really comfortable for casual wear. I’d say on the same level as the Ultraboosts, the classic style Ultraboosts that is, haven’t tried any of the newer style Ultraboosts. Even for running I’d say they’re better than the Ultraboosts or any other foam running shoe, as you can really feel the midsole pushing you forward by a lot, making you less tired.
Found a pair of the half sole at Ross and have absolutely loved them the past couple of months. Finally invested in a full sole pair that I should get in a week! I love these shoes.
I agree. I have both the new 4DFWD shown in the video as well as the Ultra 4DFWD shoes and they are by far the best most comfortable jogging/running shoes i’ve ever worn in my entire life. Better than the boost or zoomx or every other sole on the market.
@@KC-lg8qf Oh? I’ve always went true to size with the Ultra boost as well. I will say the Ultraboost and the Ultra 4DFWD have almost the same silhouette. So if you have wider feet you may want to size up by half a size.

Hopefully it's durability is good long term, I've come to expect nothing less from Adidas!

they look nice, little too expensive for my taste. Personally, I like very stiff, padded running shoes, especially when I'm training. A little weight and stiffness helps prevent injuries for mid-foot runners, plus when you switch over to spikes or lighter race shoes/socks, you feel the difference more significantly. Adidas has the problem of being too light. Even in your video, on those close ups, you could see your foot deforming over the left or right of the shoe when you planted your foot, which isn't really good for the foot. If Adidas were serious about making good running shoes, I think they need to slow down on the innovation and work on making a shoe that actually feels solid and secure. Just wanted to ask, concerning the forward propulsion it gives, do you actually feel it? Can I use it like in casual setting and still feel comfortable? Like with public speaking onstage, will it like compel me forward (even if I don't want to) with every step, like will it cause stress with me trying to fight the propulsion? Thank you in advance, sir!
It's weird to see my city in the background, I never see any popular UA-camrs from Pittsburgh. Digging the shoes though, hoping to pick up a pair to try eventually.
Hi Dr. Zach, thank you for the amazing explanation in this informative video. I had a quick question. I play tennis on the hard court for 6 hours every week. I recently am suffering from the jumper’s knee and I suspect because I don’t have the right kind of shoes. I tried the 4DFWD 2 shoes and felt very comfortable for walking. Do you think these could be a good fit for playing tennis on hard court especially for the knee? Thank you in advance!
Nah you’d roll over in a sec in these - they’re better than other running shoes for sure for stability but not for tennis - jumpers knee needs to be managed under supervision so I’d talk to your local orthopedic surgeon
Hi Zach, I'm still not convinced there is a benefit from the lattice structure of the shoe compared to foam. When you land the shoe moves ~1mm forward, that is a mechanical gain but it does not contribute to energy return. It might even push you backwards on push off as the lattice decompresses. The TPU lattice might be resilient (efficient), but it's quite firm and will store a limited amount of energy compared to soft foams. Add in the increased weight and this shoe is rather a lifestyle sneaker than a running shoe.
It depends on the structure of the lattice if those layers were set in the other direction yeah it’d exert a backward force - the shape of it acts like a semi rigid shank throughout the shoe from what I experienced - I’m fine with increased weight if I’m getting something in return - plus it’s not TPU it’s EPU which gives quite a bit more - ETPU or TPU would be alittle unforgiving IMO for this kind of design - there’s still going to be a lot of people who want foam but to me the science is good just depends what you want to feel underfoot
Good review, how about stability? Is it recommended for asymmetrically foot/leg due to flat feet/over pronation also slight knee valgus on one side? Does 4D feature help it without add orthotics insole?
They’re more stable than most running shoes- in terms of knee issues you should try them on first because some people like the feel of a dynamic midsole vs some like a stiff setup- it’s all personal preference , I will say these have better shock absorption than 99.9% IMO
Are these good running shoes for people with flat feet , in terms of shock absorption , stability etc . If not can you suggest some brands that I should consider ?
@@FootDoctorZach yeah you sold me on the shoe but the first version on on sale for like $50-$60 cheaper on some sites and colorways. So I’m seeing if it’s worth the savings or not depending on what they upgraded from version 1 to 2

How is the weight? I have a pair of the Fusios, which was the lifestyle version of the 1.0 midsole lattice - before they introduced the FWD bowties - and while they aren't for running in the first place, they are way way too heavy to consider running at all. I like the way those feel but they're stiffer than they look. These 2.0s look lighter and softer, what are the specs?
How about using these shoes for deadlifting? I mainly use it for running but at times I want to use it for other workouts as well? Do we know the maximum weight capacity for these shoes?

Hello, I wear a size 7.5 and was wondering if I should order a 7.5 or go w an 8th ?
by ver. 3 or 4 id love to see them make these lighter. weight is the main drawback i feel for the 4d line
I think with each generation of them the weight will come down as the material gets stronger per grid
Could you review either the barricade Stan smith collab, or the ubersonic Stan smith collab?
Yeah if I can ever get them in the mail
As a Herculean style demigod, these shoes inspired me to find the Golden Fleece and helped me defeat Cerebus!
Is this better than 4dfwd pulse 2? What is the difference do you have review on that shoe?
Good review, how about stability? Is it recommended for asymmetrically foot/leg due to flat feet/over pronation also slight knee valgus on one side? Does 4D feature help it without add orthotics insole?
They’re more stable than most running shoes- in terms of knee issues you should try them on first because some people like the feel of a dynamic midsole vs some like a stiff setup- it’s all personal preference , I will say these have better shock absorption than 99.9% IMO
I want a pair now….
Could you review the new barricade?
I haven’t seen a new one besides the Stan smith canvases type
This is off-topic. Can you review and dissect adidas ZX 22 boost?
Please review Asics Nimbus 25.
Are these good running shoes for people with flat feet , in terms of shock absorption , stability etc . If not can you suggest some brands that I should consider ?
Great review, very well explained 🔥💯
Cannot wait for the review of the Zen 4 from 361 or Li-Ning Bad Five either high or low 🔥🔥💯💯
Curious on your thoughts of how these would do with a heavy runner. 250+ lbs ?
I don’t see an issue
which shoe do you recommend for daily use as a bit heavy person this shoe or Adidas alpha boost v1 (please reply)
Would you prefer these Version 2’s over the first version?
I do but I could see that being a preference thing
@@FootDoctorZach yeah you sold me on the shoe but the first version on on sale for like $50-$60 cheaper on some sites and colorways.
So I’m seeing if it’s worth the savings or not depending on what they upgraded from version 1 to 2
I am debating on getting these due to me liking the last addias running shoes I’ve had, they are 100$ on ducks should I?
I USED THEM LAST WEEK FOR MY TRIP TO FLORIDA. BEST DECISION EVER! 3 DAYS WALKING AROUND DISNEY OVER 25k STEPS EVERYDAY AND LET ME TELL YOU I FEEL LIKE I WAS WALKING ON A PEOPLE MOVER ALL THE TIME! BEST SHOES I EVER HAD! 💯🤌🏽✅️
It’s in the video- watch the midsole teardown
All good, but how do I clean that 3D material if dirt or tiny stones get in...?
I just spray them with a hose or flosser - it honestly hasn’t been an issue for me and I’m using mine as a daily driver right now
How about using these shoes for deadlifting? I mainly use it for running but at times I want to use it for other workouts as well? Do we know the maximum weight capacity for these shoes?
Deadlifting I’d want specific lifting shoes
Do you think these shoes would be good in a gymnasium to play a little basketball and not slip around
Nope
hmm doc can u use theese shoes for basketball? i mean the track pattern not going to be as good as some shoes but the technology and comfort on your feet can make up for it your thoughts?
Nope not meant for court sports
@@FootDoctorZach OMG your fast lmao XD But it loook soo nice!!
Great channel! I'm staying longer 👍
Awesome! Thank you!
