I like the occasional big stadium shows that start when the sun is still up. It makes it feel like a spectacle.
SummerSlam 92 was the perfect example. Starting late afternoon into the late evening gave the show an epic look.
Definitely. The little bit of light at the start signals “this is different” and the wider angle hard camera helps too.
@@travismcdonald6576 That wasn't shown live, right? Wasn't it on a 24 hour tape delay or something?
@@travismcdonald6576 mania 24 felt the same.
@@Cruising_On_Lake_Havasoma it was on delay in the states we had it live here in europe.
Sometimes I wonder how Brian keeps a straight face. Jim ripping Kid Rock to shreds had me in stitches! The fact that he switches up so quick to talk about the next segment makes it even funnier!🤣
Oh I was dying! We need an Omnibus of Corny ripping on Kid Rock…
Brock vs Roman wasn’t a technical masterpiece but It showed that you can still have chaos without barbed wire, unnecessary blading, and other outlaw mud show nonsense and it also helps that Triple H is not a money mark man child
Yeah it was pretty good, way better than aew torture porn matches from the last few months.
I'm a big AEW guy. Roman v. Brock at SS was amazing, one of my favorite matches in years. AEW needs to learn from it
Why are you trying to sound like Jim?
No one would give two fucks about that match had he not moved the ring with a tractor.
FTR vs Briscoes....match of the year. This match wasn't even close.
Brock Lesnar lifting up the Ring with a tractor was a more memorable spot and visual than any Flip or Dive those Outlaw Goofs do on a weekly basis in AEW. Cornette is right Brock Vs Roman was like something out of the Attitude Era
Lol for someone who hates AEW you sure do support it a lot. And we appreciate it 😘
The tractor spot was just as dumb as all of those things. Just as dumb as the beer truck. Just as dumb as every other goofy phony silly garbage vehicle gimmick WWF/E has ever had.
@@nebraskajoenelson8987 why are you kissing? Are you gay?
With the same old lazy interference finish. Apparently we are supposed to believe brock never saw this coming
Warldow turn on AEW Revolution was more memorable than any spot, bad promo and DQ finish WWE had on ther TV on a weekly basis in 2022.
Do not try to compare weekly match spots and the second biggest PPV main event, last man standing match spot.
The only thing I hate about the Brock vs Roman match is that on the final sequence They didn’t put Heyman on top of the pile they used to buried Brock in.
and every single thing about that horrendously stupid tractor gimmick. every time it was used it made the match incredibly stupid and illogical. watching roman have to just pause and freeze any time brock used the damn thing for several minutes straight as if there was nothing he could do except watch brock drive it at him. it was absolute trash.

OMG.....That would have been awesome!!
Lmao! That would have been hilarious!
I personally love the outdoor stadium during the day. The atmosphere is electric.
Yea but the wrestlers don't like the humidity, ropes r slippery.. It's a good visual tho
I love it also, especially when you see the atmosphere slowly go from daylight to night, really awesome. However the humidity does really make it harder to perform. We saw that twice on Saturday where McAfee slipped when he tried to jump up on the top rope, and landed on the ropes with his knees, and Brock also slipped off the barricade when he jumped on it.
Yes, like WrestleMania 9
Hardly. A daytime match will never be as exciting as a night match. Same with any sporting event.
I love it as well
Triple H and the rest of the team give me hope that WWE shows will be interesting again now that Vince is out of the way. Not hating on Vince, he gave us a ton of great entertainment over the years but he also has had too much control over people and I believe that is what made the product stale for the last few years.
Vince was (and maybe is) great, but there was a right time for him to pass the torch. And it ended up being 4 or 5 years overdue at the end.
@@ГеоргиХристов-д6ж Yup. When NXT took off and proved that Hunter and his squad knew what the F they were doing, that should've been when the torch passed right there. Like I really struggle with the idea that they had the rididiculously talented collective roster WWE had at one point only to squander it for years to the point where NXT guys didn't want to be called up.
On the other hand, there was a bit of backstage politics going on against Haitch and co by Vince's long-time bootlickers like Kevin Dunn and Johnny Ace etc. If not for those guys, Hunter and Steph would've probably took over ages ago.
32:25 The Miz just gets it. Tough stiff match he had to walk Logan Paul through. Trained with DDP deserves respect
Wait did Logan Paul or Miz train with DDP?
@@MisterRandomEncounter The Miz. I heard Hurricane Helms trained Logan Paul
He did not "walk" Logan Paul through anything- Logan was supremely prepared and is improving insanely quickly.
@@JasonJohnContos the veteran (The Miz) does indeed have to walk the rookie (Logan Paul) through matches
@@bspsdad for real, like dude has had two matches so far, how does the other guy really think Logan Paul didn’t have to have a bunch of help from The Miz. Brian's laughter is so contagious, proper healthy chuckle that
No mention of the Maximum Male Models backstage bit? That had me absolutely rolling on the floor
Same here! I legit laughed hard at that one! It was a perfect way to use your talents in a promo.
I can recall ads like the Applebee's one from a year pr so ago that just felt unnatural and un-WWE. This water ad sold me on the product because of the characters. 😁

I agree with Corny. I miss the days of intriguing matchups on raw and smack down Like Val Venus vs Gangrel for no reason except to have a good match. Everything is a preview or rematch or a cluster.
And even those matches led to interference from their allies or rivals to progress whatever storyline they were actually in.
@@jihadx5307 my Lord yes! The Match would reach its finale then the interference comes down and makes Sunday more interesting!
@@jihadx5307 or you had an up and coming baby face (who’s going to match up against another heel at the ppv) take on a heel who happens to be the Intercontinental Champ on Raw. Just when the face looks like he was going to win, the heel runs in, the heel gets pissed at the other heel. Then you have a possible tag team match for smack down or raw. Then the IC Heel teams up with the face but then backstabs the face and teams up with the heel…… boom. No need to have 10 months of Usos vs SP week after week

First time in years and years and years where I watched a PPV start to finish and didn't fast forward 95% of it just to see the finishes.
Don't know why. This was literally exactly more of the same WWE stuff we've gotten for 20 years. Goofy phony illogical dumb vehicle gimmicks.
@@derpderpin1568 that was 1 match also its logical that brock would come with a tractor as hes a crazy farmer hunter
@@derpderpin1568 Thank you I agree. It was mostly illogical and awful. Interferences from edge and styles by surprise.. so why did their music play if this was a surprise return/run in and why would management happily have then ruin matches. Corbin the heel who saved pats life on that top rope got low blowed and cheated.. apparently nobody cares if a face guy cheats to win. Liv vs ronda well do I even have to specify that screwey finish? I wouldnt have minded if that was the only screwey finish on the show but of course not. You have Bailey and 2 other women returning, coming all the long way down to the ring to attack Bianca.. but got scared and walked off because becky entered the ring.. THEY STILL OUT NUMBERED THEM. So yeah good job making them look like weak wussys wwe. The main event..huh man where do we begin.. for some reason this is booked as last man standing.. why? It's not wrestling, it doesn't give us fans a clear winner it's just an excuse for a bunch of silly furniture spots for gullible fans who get a boner over flimsey tables breaking. Of course the usos interfering again for the 1000th time... (I don't know why they didn't just stay at ringside or enter the match at the beginning since its no dq) but Brock the veteran despite seeing these guys over and over do this never saw it coming. Rollins vs Riddle got pulled because both were on losing streaks. Can't build Riddle up as a top face when he keeps losing since Randy has been gone and Rollins hasn't won on a ppv in months
I tried watching Summer Slam, but I cannot stand Michael Cole's voice and screaming. He is annoying, just as Chris Jericho being a commentator in AEW. But much worst....
I will always appreciate John cena’s entrance because even with his talking to the camera and excitement the salute and boom RUNS to the ring makes up time for all these slow ass undertaker entrances which undertaker I was ok with it and it makes sense but Roman taking 5 minutes let’s go man

I’m the opposite about stadiums in the daytime. I love it! Definitely a cool visual like Brian said
Yeah it’s a completely different look. Sometimes the atmosphere can suffer but it didn’t for this.
I love the entrance and the long aisle. I've never liked the big screen/stage/ramp. Prefer simplicity
I think long aisles are cool but wasn't that big on the L shape they had.
I liked the simple long aisle with the blue curtain. Wrestlemania VIII
what? how is this long aisle more simplier than just having a straight ramp with a big titantron upfront?.... the aisle in the stadium was so not smooth!
The Heyman thing, I agree with Jim it’s like Paul is 350 pounds of pure fat, it looked like Lesnar struggled to flop him so instead just threw him lol
He hit like a dropped turd
That spot was unintentionally funny 😅🤣
I remember Ryback struggled badly to lift Heyman when he was 3 stone lighter. shows how strong Brock is.
@@Kingofthekop1 It helps that Lesnar’s muscle aren’t just for show. Ryback is just a bodybuilder.
No way Heyman is 350. Maybe 280.
Bobby Heenan told a good story in his book about those Wrestlemania 3 carts. Between Bobby's book and the Andre HBO documentary, I think Andre had a great deal of fun at Hogan's expense that day about whether or not Andre was going to put Hogan over in the match.
According to Bobby, Andre threatened to overturn Hogan's cart when it got to the ring. Vince pleaded with Bobby to not let Andre do it. To which Bobby replied something to the effect of "If he's going to do then he's going to do it. How the hell to you expect me to stop him?". As I remember, Hogan never used a cart to get to the ring. Whether that was because it was never the plan or because Hogan was too afraid that Andre would carry out his threat is unknown.

Glad Corny was able to finally see that Corbin is actually solid. I understand the gimmick may be meh but dude is so underrated. I’ve said Corbin has been the best heel in all of wrestling for last 4 years.
Natural heel.
Corbin is one of the few wrestlers who actually go out there and embrace being a heel, and don't need to do something to get a pop. His gimmicks have sucked since he became an authority figure, but he's always been consistently good in the ring.

The man has always been a first round draft pick for me. The business needs people who can lose. And Corbin is one of the only people who can continuously do the job without losing!
It's takes a special talent to do that.
@@ultimungo3423 Jim doesn't have the issues with Vince that Last or other's here do. He actually knows Vince and I'm sure respects him regardless of the booking he disagrees with. If anything he probably reluctantly gives HHH credit because he's trashed him before like most of IWC did lol. HHH is motivated, has big shoes to fill and probably wants the critical praise for WWE to match the financial side.
I went to this show. I was most impressed that there was no long down periods, it didn’t drag, and even my ten year old stayed attentive. Crowd was dead for USO/Profits. The only interest was in the finish.
They didn’t sell one side of the stadium, the available area were pretty full.
I just started listening, I wonder if they mention how 1500 people with $300-$2500 seats had to watch the finish on the screens. The ring lift was cool, but inconvenient for those close up.
To add. Only disappointment was that we all expected a match for Rollins with a surprise opponent.
It was a pretty good show. Helped that the weather was good too. I just wish they would’ve left the section signs up a little longer. Finding floor section seats were tricky when it was just labeled as little squares on the floor lol.
1:13:19 Brock vs Roman
cornette why do u still have spectrum it takes 1 phone call to change
I watched it and came here thinking “Jim must’ve liked at least some of this.” Great show with nothing overly foolish, the Brock/Roman match was pure “holy shit” from start to finish, which WWE needs more of.
Yeah. I think the WWE's problem for years was that they were too concerned with not being wrestling and making sure it's "sports entertainment"--leaving them in this weird middleground where you'd have OTT segments but then undercut by their insistence that this be taken seriously. So 95 year old Undertaker is beating people half his age because he's the "deadman" but then Bray Wyatt doesn't get that same push on his own gimmick. When you lean into wrestling "holy shit" spectacle like Brock vs Roman (and everything it took to put down Brock--which is the Brock I love best..the 1 in 21-1) no one questions Undertaker beating anyone because it's accepted he's supernatural yadda yadda. I much prefer inspired craziness than tepid middleground even if it doesn't always work and it seems for the time being that's the route WWE wants to go.
And I'm all for it.
While there's plenty to criticize when it comes to WWE, you have to give them credit for keeping the "professional" in "professional wrestling". AEW has done away with both the "professional" and the "wrestling".
I like the transition from daylight to dark at a wrestling event. Number one I think it’s cool and two it reminds me of WrestleMania III. A win-win in my opinion.
I tried to listen to Cornette. I use to like him. But I'm so sick of hearing his bs polictal views. I viewed this for the wrestling reviews not the "The View" talking points.
Why is it “bs” exactly? You can fast forward, fool. It’s 2022. Why are Repubtards this dense and completely unaware?
You listen to a man for his personal opinion and then get upset that he has a personal opinion
His politics are so bad. Hes like a PMSNBC or CNN pundit. Pretty sure that's the extent of his news.

Honestly, with how good the Pay-Per-View was, can we get a special shoutout to Micheal Cole? Is it me or did it seem like instead of sounding how Vince wanted him to sound, he sounded like himself, organically, passionately?
You would be correct.
I have said it for years after meeting him in person... If only he didn't have Vince shouting in his ear he could become a great announcer like Solie or Ross... In my mind, the Gorilla position transition went something like this:
Vince: Shouts constantly
Triple H: Um, could you please remember to mention this one thing once?
And with McAfee beside him and no pressure from the back, he is actually having fun, and you can hear it... Best Cole commentary in ages.
@@kurtpaulsen6579 I think even JR has said that about Michael.
@@kurtpaulsen6579 I've heard the difference in his commentary from the past few weeks. He's actually having the best commentary in his career, so far
Cole has been great for a while now especially once Pat joined. He was great on Liv Morgan's MITB return too. Maybe Vince not being in your head allows you to focus on what's on screen.
Lesnar used an open station Case IH Maxxum 130 4x4 tractor with an L630 loader.
how expensive is it?
Brian: “If this leads to matches between Ciampa and Styles…”
Jim: “I don’t think it will…”
Let’s see what happens.
I'm not really a part of this whole tribal community, but I did notice a lot of AEW fans going out of their way to dump on the show undeservedly. I think that there is a portion of the fanbase that really does want to play Gate Keeper with their alternative and where Vince was just a convenient excuse for them to hate everything WWE. When the reality is that the WWE product will continue to improve under HHH and talent will want to be in the WWE, under HHH. And there's nothing wrong with that. The reality is that many AEW fans (Not the tribal ones) only supported AEW through their hope for someone to push Vince, because Vince creates a better product when pushed by real competition. Which is all they really wanted. With Vince out of the picture, that issue is gone. It will be interesting to see how this dynamic plays out among the fanbase. I can only speak from my experience when I was younger, with the Monday Night Wars. It wasn't some Sega Genesis vs SNES fan civil war type environment. There were of course sections that preferred one or the other, but the vast majority of fans enjoyed both. If you had two VCRs in the house, Nitro was recording on one, while RAW was recording on the other.
I’m gun shy on thinking the issue with Vince is gone. HHH is still a strong corporate guy, but the WWE shows were definitely more relaxed, while it was still a WWE show with all the implied pluses and minuses that entails. Women’s division is still the strongest mainstream competition, tag scene is populated with tumbleweeds, and (with the Summerslam main event spectacle notwithstanding) the overall title scene is a lot of same ol’ same ol’.
I’ll feel more comfortable weighing in on this HHH era in, like, two months or so since WWE’s so damn big and change is likely gonna be slow. I’m still a bit terrified for the guy, he sounded like he was on the verge of a very public existential crisis in that clip Jim and Brian played. So I dunno if he’ll be able to do with the company overall what he did with NXT.
That said, much like anything involving AEW in the discussion, there’s a whole mess of hyperbole in either positive or negative direction. I’d just like to have two promotions that put out maybe 50% watchable wrestling instead of having to rely on scattershot AEW or consistently dull WWE. I’m cautiously optimistic this is gonna be not a golden era for either but a few months where both are putting their best feet forward.
The main event was damnedest thing I ever saw, Roman taking that bump was frightening as all hell.
Holyshit, dude, we acknowledge you! Damn it! Lol WTF
I think the Judgement Day stuff is headed somewhere cool, subtext everywhere, we'll see.
Mysterios are worth their weight in gold imo, all the generations of fans that grew up with Rey and we get to watch his son become a wrestler... the Eddie tie ins... fuck it, I'm a Dom mark, take my money lol
Pretty much the criticism I would expect from Jim, harsh but fair.
People saying show of the year and Im here like, it was above average but average lately has been shit haha
Sure HHH has yet to begin.
What bump are you talking about? When Roman rolled off the ring, when Brock lifted it up?
Rey Mysterio is 🐐 but his son sucks......he's greener than a pepper tree as Jim says it. He's basically learning the job on the spot and he's isn't a fast learner. How long has he been on TV now? 2 years? He's still has bad physique for his height. Not saying he should be ripped but at least have some tone damn it
It will take two to three months for Haitch’s changes to fully take affect. You can’t turn a ship that size on a dime, so he’s going to have to finish out the storylines and angles that were already in place, matches that were already booked etc, but he will do it in ways that make a lot more logical sense, as we saw with this show and with the following Raw. It’s noticeably better, and noticeably improving, and that has me excited for wrestling for the first time since I first heard AEW was starting (and was quickly disappointed when it did)

Re Brian's trying to list the top women in WWE: the women's division in NXT 2.0 is ridiculously entertaining. So many great looks and personalities and tremendous potential. I have real hope for the future of the WWE women. Also, they apparently did not notice that Becky got hurt early in the match, and it was obvious especially towards the end.
Watch I'm calling it now Tony yayo (Khan) will have Chris jerhico do some dumbass tractor spot on free TV. To take a shot at WWE because JAS are sport entertainers
Maybe Logan can do this instead of shilling bogus crypto or working rigged boxing matches that no one accepts.
Twinkle Toes
Triple H did a great job , one of best ppv’s we’ve seen since coming back from Covid
Felt exactly identical to any WWE PPV of the last 20 years, because it was.
@@derpderpin1568 Had it’s moments. But apparently HHH is a miracle worker.
theres a lot of copium here
@@derpderpin1568 you can stop watching at any time.
Best main event since Money In The Bank 2011 , rest of the ppv was meh.
I just don’t understand why Jim is still willing to pay Spectrum. At this point it has to be a rib! Why would you continue to pay for something you’re not happy with! 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
It’s probably the only option in his area lol
Better than any AEW ppv ever
Lol
Lmao
Nah
Finn Balor walking to the ring in a t-shirt and underpants is the least intimidating thing I’ve ever seen
Who's afraid of a prince?
He’s bland and very boring lmfao. Rhea looks more of their leader tbh
@@totallykoolyeah Ubisoft is afraid of Prince of Persia.
Good God as someone who lives right next to Nashville you are correct about gimmick city lol
10:25 to skip the intro
I cannot stand Logan Paul in real life, cannot believe he is as good at wrestling as he is.
Should also be mentioned that Becky wrestled most of that match with a separated shoulder and is now out for several months.
Tired of usos vs profits
I love it when Brian loses it like when he laughs at 1:26:30 . I had no idea what they were referring but laughed along as well. I then searched for the photo, came back to this video and laughed again.
Ronda rousey definitely shouldn't be mentioned as one of the best women's wrestlers, brian is delusional.
Didn’t hear the asterisk part? Or are you willingly ignoring it?
Ronda Rousey can have a good match with the right leaders
The main event was spectacular. I haven't been so hooked on a world title match in a LONG time.
It was a disgrace
why bleep the swear words come on.
Because UA-cam.
Good start for the HHH era. Not a legendary show taking all of WWE history in account, but their best non-WM PPV in a long time. To quote the man himself….”Game On!”
Becky Lynch an all-timer?! Her gimmicks stink, she’s average/annoying on the mic, and her in ring work is all over the place. She is not good.
Good joke man.
Why the fuck are they bleeping out language?
Its a UA-cam monetization thing.
Revenue.
For WM 38, Helms and Pearce both trained Logan Paul. Not sure if this was a one off situation or ongoing.
ANY and EVERY match with bianca belair is a terrible match.
For Jeff Jarrett, Nashville ain't country no more.
It's not like double j could have came to the ring with his cowboy rip off with kid Rock sitting right there
The commentary on the main event with Michael Cole was incredible especially if vkm is not screaming in his headset every minute... for example when Brock was getting countdown when roman hit him with the first belt he had told the referee. Chad for the love of God count faster. Lol
You think he doesn't read what people say online? If anything, Cole probably timed an adjustment to his verbal diarrhea for this moment knowing it would fit well with the narrative that blames McMahon instead of him. Of course he can do that. He wasn't always pure diarrhea. But guess who was in charge back then, when he would have been fired for doing what he'd later do? Vince McMahon. But the truth is coming out now. McMahon was never the problem, it was the yes-men, and fans like you who will be yes-men for the yes-men. I have never ever seen the people blaming McMahon for everything explain away the glory days. Because deep down, they're just terrified of blaming the right people, Cole, Orton, and Cena. They were not a part of WWE's prior success. McMahon is the opposite. He was at the center of it. The culture of participation trophies and softness and fake positivity FORCED McMahon to keep that unholy trinity around all this time as an act of CHARITY to them. And deep down? I think every last person knows it. Look how the defense of Cole boils down to "cmon be sympathetic" which inherently admits he's bad and foretells the online whining that would happen if he got 'bullied'. Orton could've been the check and balance. He could've been like all the other multigenerational names, and kept the standards up. But he's utterly indifferent and lazy.
Yeah, I caught that. He actually sounded as if he had a personality. Instead of a robot or parrot
Cole was INCREDIBLE this event! I knew he was being held back by Vince.

One more thing: on the Vince and Pat interview, Pat McAfee very clearly acknowledged that he isn't being controlled on commentary. But I know they will still be pretending Vince controlled everything 100 years from now.
@@matthewnewman6039 It's the small things that can greatly make a difference. I was in complete shock when Micheal Cole said that. Becuz Vince don't want to acknowledge your intelligence
It would be cool, if theory ends up cashing in his briefcase right after Cody wins the big one, Cody is the perfect person to help theory move up in his career, cause Cody gets it.
This is exactly what I was thinking as well. Give Theory a 2 month reign before Cody takes it back.
You think once in a while Vince will give Cole a call to yell in his ear for ol times sake?
"Say it damn it!"
Agree - the timing on the Liv-Rhonda finish was perfect, Mac is a real asset to the WWE, and can't understand Theory's place in the mix. Right on.
It's about time someone on this program gave The Miz his proper's. He's been really good at what he does since at least his Hollywood Miz debut about 8 years ago and he has certainly earned a little respect by now.
Agreed he's awesome
Yes he holds matches together and makes his opponents look good
Becky Lynch is an awesome wrestler and seems like a really nice lady but sometimes her facials are way overdramatic even for wrestling in my opinion.
Totally agree, she’s a great woman’s wrestler, but the facials are so annoying
Still not as dramatic as Montez Ford..dude’s wayyy over the top.
When she gets a two count and starts quivering and hyperventillating it’s so weird. Then she puts her hands up by her mouth for some reason it creeps me tf out.
@@Andrew32576 I don’t like Montez tbh. He’s soooo cringy
@@Andrew32576 yeah he’s frustrating, super athletic and can go in the ring…but I can’t stand him on the mic or just his antics overall
I work a front loader regularly and whether the ring was gimmicked or not, that spot with the loader made me smile ear to cheek. I have bell's palsy, btw.
rip kid rock lmao
I just have one question. Who the hell was Kid Rock kissing?
A truck
Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns are just such studs. I dont watch AEW but I listen to the reviews so much that I kinda get stuck in that world of vanilla midgets and 125lbs gimmick wrestlers and you really forget what professional fighters should look like. Even Brock smiling is so funny yet sinister,IM INTRIGUED. Partner that with his Rivals Episode on the next day,man I just love Brock Lesnar and feel like he’s such a good worker mentally that doesnt get credit.
Really enjoyed Summerslam keep it up WWE keep me interested 👍
Edge came out of a box, Edge is over.
Jim’s take on Kid Rock tongueing Greg Valentine was Fucking HilRious 🤣🤣🤣
I love Cornette podcasts. You don't even need to be that much of a wrestling fan - the interaction and stories are just so entertaining.
It was just a awesome event..i love the wwe and ima really love HHH and stephine in charge..HHH is gonna bring the basics back to the game and after watching summerslam im very excited..and I love the long walk to the ring..lol it brings that extra to the character if done right
I only got spectrum internet fuck cable
