The challenge is getting back in that kayak if you flip over. A trick that helps is to bring a hard six pack cooler with a handle you can turn upside down in the water. Use its buoyancy as a step for one foot to get a “lift” into the kayak.
I forgot to mention I loved that history place you went to! Loved seeing the wild life. It was cute seeing Maggie in the bike basket with Owen riding the bike. And at the end loved you both dancing together. That was sweet!
We have that fire pit. Love it. Especially how it folds up in little bags. Never seen fried green tomatoes that were red but whatever makes you dance! Love you guys!
They didn’t have any green tomatoes, but these were not ripe at all and a little green so it worked out. We are really enjoying the fire pit and love how small it folds up.
We heard you say your video didn’t do good we think all your videos are good we’ve book reservations because what you showed we thank you both do a great job showing everything so don’t change a thing just keep loving your life showing us everything you get to do Thank you both
You guys are terrific! Thanks so much for sharing your adventures! This is the first time I have commented, but I thought you should know how much your generous spirits are appreciated! Maybe we will catch up some day, until keep dancing!
Thanks for this. My husband and I just talked about this park yesterday when we passed the exit on our way back to Fl. It will be added to our to-do list.
That is a beautiful park, lots to do. Those are neat kayaks. I hope your review is good, like how they fold up. Maggie was having a great time. Dinner looked delish. In Juliet the set from Fried Green Tomatoes is there, with the Whistle Stop Cafe. As we remember the tomatoes were good, the sandwiches and pie were great!! Folkston Funnel is interesting, if you're a railfan. We always try to catch a couple things to see along the way. Continue to stay happy, and do the happy dance. Happy, healthy New Year to you both!! 🙂👍
We may have to check out Juliette and the Whistle Stop Cafe. I love that movie. We are getting better with the kayaks and will give a review on them soon. Thanks so much for your comment.
I just discovered your channel when the title of this video caught my attention. I had lived near Savannah for several years. So when I bought my motorhome and first went full time, I thought McAllister would be a good transition point for me to get to know my motorhome. So I was campground host there for 5 months. Then I went to Unicoi State Park where I campground hosted for another 3 months and I see you also have a video on Helen GA & Unicoi SP. So that one and the one on Savannah will be my next two videos to watch. And I see you have several other videos of places I have either been or want to go. So I am glad I have found your channel.
You mentioned fried GREEN tomatoes, but the ones you prepared were RED. If you really want to eat fried GREEN tomatoes this time of year and you are near a Piggly Wiggly grocery store, you might be able to get GREEN tomatoes there. Our Piggly Wiggly at home in eastern NC has them year round.
That’s good to know, We couldn’t find green tomatoes so we use very firm red ones and they were actually really good. But now we need to try some green ones to see what the difference is. Thanks for sharing.
Be careful walking near raccoons, possible rabies! Great as usual video. I’ve been over a year I think. Love the outdoor camping, but your one of the reasons I got a Blackstone griddle. Too old to camp now. As my wife says roughing it means staying at Holiday Inn. Really enjoy ya’lls videos and music.
We’re not really roughing it either. Thanks for the raccoon warning, we try to keep Maggie close especially at night, she’s been going crazy lately with all the wild life around. I hope you are enjoying your Blackstone. Thanks for your comment.
Sunsets like that are an absolute gift. All we have to do is take the time to look up and enjoy them. Thanks for sharing and taking us along for the ride.
We stopped at Ft McAllister SP in 2021 and the visitor center staff were the nicest people. My back pain was acting up and they loaned me the keys to the golf cart so we could join the excellent guided tour of the earthen fort. I bet your fried red tomatoes had a lot more flavor than the green ones.
That is a great video which has everything in it . The trees , water, animals, birds, sunsets , fires, evening chats, and more dancing , also great meals . Thank you for sharing this video with me !! As always BS & BK & BC !!!
Don’t show tell Southerns that those are fried green tomatoes. Even unripe red tomatoes taste nothing like green ones. Regardless I’m sure they taste fine.
Was it the fried "red" tomatoes or the sauce that put those burgers into Happy Dance status? Can you tell us more about the sauce? I just LOVE watching your cooking concoctions and happy dancin'. Happy trails....
It was firm red tomatoes, we could not find any green ones. Here’s the recipe for the sauce, 1 1/4 cups mayo, 2 1/2 tbsp spicy brown mustard, 1 tbsp paprika, 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley, 2 tsp prepared horseradish, 2 tsp lemon juice, 1 tsp Cajun seasoning, 1 tsp pickle juice, 1 tsp hot sauce, 1 clove of garlic, black pepper. It was really good we did have a lot left over.
Great video; what a beautiful park. We've wondered about the Oru kayaks ourselves. If you are heading near South Florida my husband and I would love to take you out to dinner and talk camping/rving.
Owen has always wanted to try the Ora’s but i was also skeptical but I’ll have to admit we are really liking them. It would be great to meet up with you guys. Thanks so much for watching.
Hi Owen and Lynn! I love those kayaks you build yourself. Those are nice. I would too see how you tare them down in another video. Also I was living that bird you videoed. And loving you doing the happy dance after eating that great burger and fried green tomato. Never had those but I heard they were good. Lynn I would to know what goes in your sauce. Or is it a secret? I was glad Owen did the happy dance. Have nit seen that in a while. Have a great week and weekend.
We will share more about how to setup and tear down the Kayaks in an upcoming video. We are getting a lot better at doing both. The sauce is not secret, here’s the recipe. INGREDIENTS • 1 1/4 cup mayonnaise • 2 1/2 tablespoons spicy brown mustard • 1 tablespoon paprika ((sweet or smoked)) • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley • 2 teaspoons prepared horseradish • 2 teaspoons lemon juice • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning ((or Creole seasoning)) • 1 teaspoon pickle juice ( (dill or sweet)) • 1 teaspoon hot sauce • 1 clove garlic ( , grated) • grind of black pepper • 3 large firm (unripe) green tomatoes ( (about 1 1/2 pounds total)) • Coarse salt • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper • 1/2 cup buttermilk • 1 large egg white • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce ((such as Tabasco))
That new fire platform looks interesting, but where’s your solo stove? Beautiful park and looks like you had a lot of fun. Let us know if those boats get easier to fold and unfold.
Once again you have shared a great video from a great Georgia state park, and one of our favorites. We camped there last January and loved it. We thought the campground being on an island to itself was especially neat. Glad you got to eat at Fish Tales too. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Looking forward to the Crooked River video. We're camping there ourselves in just a few weeks.
"Adventure' is the name of the game...I've never seen anyone fry ripe tomatoes, but if firm enough I would guess that works. It all looks good ! That was cool watching the deer ! And what is the pros and cons of the popup fire box ? As always, THANKS for sharing !
The main thing with the pop up fire pit is the size when stored. We still love the solo stove and I’m sure we will take it with us when we don’t take the kayaks.
Something's wrong with our TV because those green tomatoes looked red ones. Gotta call the TV service repair I guess. 😁. Did I miss the episode when you bought the new portable fire pit? Maggie = 45#s? Our girl was 20 and the vet had us put her on a diet. 😏 Thanks for the vlog!😚 Hmm...no Italian emojis on this keyboard...grr
No need to call the TV repair man, we couldn’t find green tomatoes so really firm red ones had to do, but I think they were just as good… Maggie weighs about 35 which she does need to weight around 30 per the vet. The fire pit should be coming up in a video soon, we wanted to try it out before we shared our thoughts about it.
You always make me smile, but more often than not, I bust out laughing. So glad you had fun. So, do you like the Popup Fire Pit? It looks very nice. Safe travels and stay well wherever you roam. Hugs for the sweetest Magpie.
So glad we are able to make you laugh… that makes life so much more fun. We are liking the pop up fire pit but we still like the solo stove too. Them main pro with pop up is how small it packs up.
I just got back to PA from my mini snowbird trip. I made it short to accommodate my dog, and I'm so glad I brought her! Seeing today's episode was great! I love being out in nature and you guys do all the things I love to do. Maggie has been a great inspiration to me, too! Freya was so good. I think she understood we were going on a trip and really tried to be good while traveling, even though she doesn't like riding in the van. (I fixed a bed for her to curl up in instead of ride in the seat as was suggested by your viewer.) Having a kayak with you is key. Really enjoyed this episode - the beautiful Georgia SP, the wildlife, your kayak adventure, cycling, this one was as you said in the description "We Loved It!" 2023 isn't over by a long shot, so I'm going to use the shortened winter trip as credits to head out again soon. Thanks for being such lovely friends. (I hope Owen is stretching, too. I'm glad it looks like his back is better!) Peace & Prayers.
I’m glad Freya was good on your trip. I think she will get better with every trip you take. Maybe taking short trips with her is the best thing to do starting out. We so love your comments, thanks for being with us.
Wow! This video is my new favorite! I got to see Maggie as Admiral of your new ORU Kayaks (Lynn as Captain), not to mention McAllister Park, e-bikes, and the new pop up fire pit - in action! Meanwhile, back on the home front, it's a balmy 36 degrees whith periods of rain, and under a winter weather advisory for snow and ice (obviously a little further up the road more than here}! Enjoy your journey and safe travels! We really like your Oru Kayaks!
Thank you so much Cindy for your kind works. We are getting better with the kayaks, that first time putting them together was a learning experience, but we are really liking them. Stay warm and we miss seeing you guys especially Maggie.
What a fun video what a fun park! We have driven by this park a hundred times on the way to South Carolina, we need to stop. Great photos of the armor plated possums and red tailed hawk enjoy crooked river. Happy tails and safe travels.
Amazing camp sight great photos and videos of the eagle s and hawks. I got to say the river rafts look scary but Maggie loves it. Enjoy your next destination looking forward to another video.
The wildlife seem to follow you wherever you go. The close up of the hawk was great! They are one intense looking rapture. I'm looking forward to your final review on the kayaks. We bought blow up ones for our van but they're still too big to bring with us when we go away. Enjoy your next adventure. Love the happy dance as a way of rating the campground. I think you should incorporate that into the videos.😄
A happy dance review is a great idea. Thanks for the suggestion. We have use the kayaks a couple more time and we are really liking them. We will do a review on them soon.
Ok either I missed something or you didn’t tell us about the new fire pit. Lol. Another great video. We enjoy watching your travels and picking new places to go from them.
I don’t think we’ve talked about the fire pit yet, but we will in the future. We just wanted to try something that was smaller to store and it is working out great for us. However, I will say we still love our solo stove and I’m sure we will take it with us when we don’t take the kayaks.
That park is definitely a keeper. This whole journey has been really good, perfect parks at the perfect time of year. Maggie is so good in the kayaks, my lab would have us both swimming. What happened to the solo stove ..guess we'll learn down the road. Those burgers 🍔 I knew they'd be happy dance worthy. Happy Trails 🐕
We still have the solo store but wanted to try something smaller when stored. It’s working out great and I’m sure we will tell you our thoughts about in the near future. I’m sure we will still use the solo stove because we love it.
We loved Ft. McAllister when we went last year. You’ve made me want to go back.We enjoyed it so much. Up at the front of the campgrounds where the water is for the deer, you can also find a lot of armadillos. Oh...Maggie just found them! Love y’all! From SC, Jane ❤️🙏🏻😊 Definitely Happy Dance worthy!
The water from out site was used for the dear watering area. I thought that was a great idea and we also saw a lot of armadillos and raccoons. It was Happy Dance worthy for sure!
So glad we found your videos. now subscribed and enjoying your stories. What is the table you use in this video? We are getting ready to hit the road in the next few months. Thanks
The table is a REDCAMP Small Square Folding table, we have it in our Amazon store, here’s a link if you are interested www.amazon.com/shop/VanTrekkingLifestyle. I do want to point out that the top is starting to bubble up so I’m not sure I could totally recommend it.
We always enjoy your videos, happy dance & all! We’re Georgians but haven made it to Ft McAllister SP yet. Hope you get to try GREEN fried tomatoes next time-soooo good🤗. Curious about your fire pit. Haven’t seen that before what kind is it? Looks lighter. Glad you’ve enjoyed Georgia❤
We couldn’t find any green tomatoes so we had to settle for very firm red ones. They were actually really good. The fire pit is called a “Pop Up Fire Pit”, it folds up and stores in a bad that is 27" x 6" x 6’, that is the main reason we are trying it instead of the solo stove, but we are really liking it and it is a lot lighter. Thanks so much for watching.
We still have it but with the kayaks the room for it was a little tight so Owen wanted to try something that packed up smaller. I’m sure we still take it when we don’t take the kayaks. We do love it.
We still have the solo stove and love it. We are just trying something that takes up less space when stored, but we are liking the pop up fire pit too.
We did need to get something smaller for this trip that is why we are trying the new fire pit. I’m sure we will still take the solo stove when we don’t take the kayaks because we still love it, but that pop up fire pit is really coming in close to being just as good.
We have used the kayaks a couple more time and are getting better putting the together, we are really enjoying them and Owen is looking forward to doing more fishing. We still have the solo stove just trying something smaller.
My Georgia roots run deep with 12 Aunts and Uncles, grandma, stepdad and I have to say not once in 49 years did I ever see one relative fry red tomatoes and call them green? Just Sayin 😮😊 I’m not saying it didn’t look delicious
I said to John, what are we gonna do about the 325 weight limit. He responded, “saved by the bell.” Those look awesome. Gotta get me one. But no way I’d go out in it in gator territory. John’s gift to me was an electric scooter. Is he working toward my early demise?
At least it's an "early" demise. 😂😂. The ORU's are perfect for our style of travel for sure. But the Lake's weight limit is 225 not 325. I think Maggie and I would be golden with 325 too. Actually I'm pretty sure we'll be fine with both of us in the kayak even at 225. You know I've been drooling over a scoot too. But deciding which toys to take in a small space is always a dilemma. Hope you two are staying safe and dry.
The challenge is getting back in that kayak if you flip over. A trick that helps is to bring a hard six pack cooler with a handle you can turn upside down in the water. Use its buoyancy as a step for one foot to get a “lift” into the kayak.
That is a great idea, thanks for sharing.

Man that hamburger made me hungry. Best happy dance we’ve seen!
I think Owen did two Happy dances in this one. It was a lot of fun.
Love my❤ pop up fire pit
We are loving ours too and it packs up so small.

I agree, and we love it.
Lynn, you are beautiful with hair up or down! Another great video, thanks so much for sharing your lives. ❤
Thank you so much, your comment is greatly appreciated.
So much wildlife! The eagle was the money shot. But those fried green tomatoes!!! Yummy!!! See you this week. Another excellent adventure.
Seeing wild life is one of our favorite things that always excites us. Thanks so much for your support and great friendship.
Loved it. Maggie loved the basket.
Maggie is getting better and better with her basket and I think she does love it.
Owen great job on the video. Love your Christmas gifts. Once so glad you are doing the happy dance in 2023. Happy Tails
We are really liking our Christmas gifts too. We hope to do many more Happy Dances.
Maybe a thin rubber or silicone mat would give Maggie some traction on the kayak and protect the surface.
That’s for the suggestion, we do need to get her something to put on the front or on the side as that’s where she wants to sit.
The burgers definitely look good, Love fried green Tomatos
Those tomatoes were a little red but still really good. Thanks for watching.
Look forward to your videos every week!
Thank you so much.

Maggie, looks like Todo riding in that basket. Sorry Owen, you don't look like the wicked witch.
Owen says he’ll take not looking like the wicked witch… we do call that the Todo basket.
Owen's cookin' again! It does look good but I always thought that fried green tomato's were green not red! Happy Tail guy's!🙂
We could not find any green tomato’s so we settled for firm red ones and they were actually really good.

Fried red tomatoes!
Yep, that’s what you do when you can’t find green ones. They were actually really good.
Gonna be difficult to top that park, wildlife, old men dancing 🤣🤣😉, and the little Princess stealing the show. Really fun time, thanks.
I agree, it will be hard to top this one.
I'm so jealous! You are in t-shirts and I'm in hoodies and jeans! Lol have fun be safe!
Interesting kayaks you got.
There’s only been a couple of days that we’ve been able to be in shorts and the nights always get cool enough for a hoodie or a jacket.
Hi, y'all were right around the corner from our house in Pooler Georgia. I love fried green tomatoes!
We love the red fried tomatoes too. We’ll have to make some green one to see what the difference is.

We were just talking... you're from JAX, right? Email us at VanTrekkingLifestyle@gmail.com if that's right and maybe we can meet you finally. ❤️👍
I love that fire pit! How small does it fold too
The fire pit folds up to be 27" x 6" x 6" and it weights 13lbs.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle 👍🏻👍🏻🥰 Awesome! Thank you
Looks like fried Red tomatoes.
You are right. But they were good.
Amazing camp sight great photos and videos of the eagle s and hawks. I got to say the river rafts look scary but Maggie loves it. Enjoy your next destination looking forward to another video.
Thanks so much for watching. Your comment is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the next nice video! But, in my opinion, the music is too loud for conversations :)
We appreciate your input, we will work on that.
What happened to the solo stove
We still have it but with the kayaks the room for it was a little tight so Owen wanted to try something that packed up smaller. I’m sure we still take it when we don’t take the kayaks. We do love it.
Thanks for another great video! I so enjoy watching you three. I look forward to next week's adventure. Safe travels.
We appreciate you following along each week.
What was the sauce you put on the tomato
Here’s the recipe for the sauce, 1 1/4 cups mayo, 2 1/2 tbsp spicy brown mustard, 1 tbsp paprika, 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley, 2 tsp prepared horseradish, 2 tsp lemon juice, 1 tsp Cajun seasoning, 1 tsp pickle juice, 1 tsp hot sauce, 1 clove of garlic, black pepper. It was delicious.
What happened to the Solo stove?
We still have the solo stove and love it. We are just trying something that takes up less space when stored, but we are liking the pop up fire pit too.
Following on your heals down to Florida, considering the same overnight stops, your videos are very helpful. Hope to cross paths somewhere in FL
We hope you see you somewhere in Florida. Have a safe trip.
Is Solo stove out to make room for the kayaks?
We did need to get something smaller for this trip that is why we are trying the new fire pit. I’m sure we will still take the solo stove when we don’t take the kayaks because we still love it, but that pop up fire pit is really coming in close to being just as good.
What is the model of table you use to sit and eat.
Another awesome park! Thank you! Love all of the "happy dances." Looking forward to your reviews on the kayaks! What happened to the solo stove?
We have used the kayaks a couple more time and are getting better putting the together, we are really enjoying them and Owen is looking forward to doing more fishing. We still have the solo stove just trying something smaller.
My Georgia roots run deep with 12 Aunts and Uncles, grandma, stepdad and I have to say not once in 49 years did I ever see one relative fry red tomatoes and call them green? Just Sayin 😮😊
I’m not saying it didn’t look delicious
We could not find any green ones so we had to go with some not so ripe red ones. They were good!
