Great vid! I had no idea raids were tuned to the number of pawns present at the time of the raid. I was always worried about leaving my people undefended, now that I know it scales I can be a bit more adventurous!
awesome video, was looking for some tips to improve on the DLCs and found them here
what i learned from siegebreakers is, that toxsheels are better than normal ones(if you dont fight wasters) it may take longer to for them to attack which gives you 1 or 2 additional hits but the raid gets much more decimated most of the times and have at least some debuffs to their shooting from poison buildup. also you can get their stuff ammo and food since tox does not destroy anything. also you get more gene donors and brainscan volunteers this way.
This is some serious quality advice, thanks good sir
The manhunter packs will also attack traders
In my experience Flak Vest, Button Down Shirt and Duster is better than recon Armor. That's why I skip It all of the time and go directly to Marine armor😅
I've had wonderful results with Recon only on a colony, but there's so many ways to build up your gear =)
As long as you gear up your dudes at some point I guess many ways lead to victory. I personally disliked the Marine Armors for their heavy Movement Speed penalty.
@@Ic0nGaming yeah that's right! That's the lovely Thing about rimworld....there are 500 ways leading you to the Finish Line 😁
I thought raids were all about colony wealth. I really avoid sending many colonists out for that reason. Gotta protect home.
how do childreen count for the current colonynumber in case of raids?
You give some not ideal advice when it comes to the armour section.
Recon armour is a waste of resources and crafting time. It will be beat out by duster, shirt and vest while being slower and more resource intensive to produce. Its not a beneficial step and more like a gotcha, you waste your time with that stuff until you learn better.
You can see this for yourself pretty easily, let them freely equip what they want with both available and they'll equip the best defence they can. The only exception is the recon helmet and the window of opportunity for this is very narrow, pretty much if you only have enough resources for recon helmets and can't foresee when you will acquire enough for marine helmets. During this brief window the full head protection has its benefits but this is generally limited to super niche playthroughs like an ice biome.
Ofc it ain't optimized as your approach there. My main sentiment is more about invest in high class armor in general. Thanks for the explanations, I never made me that much work to differentiate it that far. Usually I buy Recons if I have the money and can't get Marine and the rest of the time I make Flak and High Value Leather gear.
I'll leave everybody himself to his min-maxing desires, but the point is: Armor matters. A lot.
And yeah, you are right, some parts of the game are just weirdly balanced towards each other.
if its of interest I think it was the channel francis john did some fantastic work on number crunching a few different areas of the game. There's similar pitfalls in weapon selections and other areas too
I can't stop coming back to rimworld :) we def all have our own ways to play
