I love the idea of a Squire Starcaster bass. Sure do the traditional color finishes. Then go a few steps further out and do some blue, red & toxic green sparkle finishes as well.

Honestly I just got a cv70 jazz bass the first one the truss rods was maxed out before I even walked out he store, and then the one they replaced that with had the same exact issue but the tech at Sam ash ended up stripping the truss rod but the third times the charm 😅

Don’t you DARE say that!!! THIS YEAR ALONE I have had to convince my wife that I needed the Ibanez SR590 (1993 vintage) and a short scale bass. We agreed on the Shell Pink Rascal, but it was out of stock. I ended up with the Surf Green Mustang and then I get the email that the Shell Pink Rascal is in stock. I also get the notification that Squire is releasing 3 Antigua colored instruments BUT that the P-Bass would NOT be coming to the USA. TWO FRIGGING HOURS AFTER I ORDER THE RASCAL… Chicago Music Exchange announces that they have the exclusive on the Antigua P-Bass. Now I have to convince the wife that I NEED the Antigua (it’ll be my round wound string P-Bass and the 40th Anniversary Gold Edition in Pacific Blue will be the flatlands with (yes) Labella gold flats) P-bass….
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CONVINCE HER I NEED THE ANTIGUA JAZZ BASS? “Because they match” isn’t gonna be good enough!!
The Squier 50s P bass is their best bass it sounds and feels fantastic. Itching to get a sunburst one lol
What is also missing in the Squier lineup for guitars as wel as basses is.. Acoustasonic versions, (there should also a Fender acoustasonic bass too..) , i think..

I nearly bought an an Antigua Precision back in '93. I was choosing my first pro-level bass in a store and I ended up going for an '89 2EQ Stingray over the Precision. I don't regret my decision - the Musicman has been a trusty friend ever since - but I did like the Fender.
The Jazz Bass is always gets excluded. Fender didn't even reissue a 70's Jazz bass in the American Vintage II line. I wish Fender would bring back the Signature models. one that comes to mind is the Squier Mikey Way Signature Mustang. I would love a Fender Prodigy in the Squier line 🍺 🇨🇦

A true Squier pj bass that has p body but a jazz neck. I made mine from two affinities and it is an absolute game changer!
I think a cool idea would be a Rickenbacker-esque bass with a J-bass pickup where the J-bass neck pickup is and like a Jaguar guitar style pickup with neodymium magnets at the 24th fret harmonic and a 4 knob control section. I love Rickenbackers but they are just so dang expensive.
Id like a 51 pbass with two single coil p bass pickups in a jazz bass configuration or right nrxt to each other wired as a humbucker in the pbass sweet spot
Agree that the Squier signature range should come back. I had a MIM Geddy that retailed for close to £1000 which is a little insane considering the feature set (or lack thereof) and it wasn't all too long ago that you could get an MIJ for £700 or so. Squier's quality control is really good these days and given the availability of low-cost, high quality aftermarket parts/electronics folks can upgrade them if required.
So happy to see other people recognize the starcaster bass, it’s my dream bass for sure! Maybe one day!
Squire MonoNeon Sig Jazz (passive).
Godin made a so called Shifter Bass some years ago. This bass was more or less a Stratocaster Bass. At least with the pick-ups configuration.
I have a dozen basses of all types and the new Rascal is one of my current faves. It currently gets the most play/gig time!

You know what squier I would love, something that fills the thunderbird or Rickenbacker style roles maybe using the rascal formula as a standard length bass for a thunderbird, and maybe a reverse jaguar body but with Rickenbacker shaped pickups in the correct positions or applying the common mods to them
I had no CLUE they made a Starcaster bass before! WE NEED IT BACK and YES it'd fit well in the Squier Paranormal series. Let's get wacky with it! AND YES YES YES I been wanting a Squier Meteora bass for so long now! Gimme that opal spark with maple board so I don't gotta Frankenstein my own.

A squier meteora would be such an awesome mod platform if they make it with the double j pickups, at least for me. Would buy it without hesitation.

antigua is one of those colors you think is really cool until you own one and eventually realize how bad it really is. Then you sell it, and years later you find yourself thinking, "that's a cool color, I should get another."
You say the Starcaster Bass, but I'm wanting more hollowbody, or "thinline" versions of Fender's models, in general. On the six-string front, I'd die for a thinline Jazzmaster, but I'd love to also see a thinline Tele Bass.
Or better yet, here's one for you - how about a thinline Mustang Bass that's trying to be a bit of a parallel universe Hofner Beatle Bass? That very vintage "dead-sounding" tone is something that Fender just doesn't have an option for in their catalog. If Fender don't want to take a risk on something like that, releasing it through Squier would be amazing. And then they'd probably make a MiM or MiA version once it inevitably flies off the shelf. 😅
Besides the noisy pickups I really like squire and I just got a rascal in the beautiful Sherwood green😍
Get the Geezer Butler signature EMGs, plug and play and they fit the perfect old school fender bass sound best of all they are whisper quiet no noise at all

@@daynmitchell7543 ah I missed the part you said it was a rascal, I recently bought my first humbucker bass, Jackson Spectra. I was surprised at how quiet it was. Should give one if those a try if you ever have the opportunity

I would love to see a short scale Jazzmaster bass with the same type of pickups the guitars have but of course make it more bass like. On the upper switch be a series parallel so in series you get a more p bass sound and in parallel a more jazz sound. I’m a huge fan of Jazzmasters in general so that be a no brainer. I agree with the starcaster they are killer instruments and definitely need a good budget friendly price.

I'd love a Squire Coronado and more leftie options.
I hovered on a meteora for a long time. The final deciding factor was I was not in love with any of the color ways. I dislike burst and the solid colors weren't fun enough for me to add it to my stable when I'm already satisfied with the bass I do have.
If we're talking purely finishes, a few copies of the Japanese FSR's would be amazing, especially the paisley finish in black/white.
I play the Classic Vibe Mustang, the perfect size and handling for me. So, more Mustangs! Maybe a Contemporary Active Mustang? Or a five string Mustang (if it can still handle well)? Or, just put the Paranormal Rascal Bass HH pickups and bridge on a Mustang body? That would be perfect!
Squire version of Aerodyne would be nice..
Also the Big Block bass w dual humbuckers would be sweet

Squier Meteora...YEAH!! In the past I onwed a Chris Aiken Precision Bass with a mirrored pickguard, so in reason for that I was thinking about a...Squier Steve Harris P-Bass? A Squier version with almost the same look but cheaper specs?! Why not?!
100% a Stratbass. 3 jazz pickups, 5 way switch, that would be so cool & a modders dream. Could work really well as a short-scale too!
Might get some crap for this but I wanna see another go at Fenders Dimension bass. I picked one up and just love it.... but the 18v electronics can piss right of. Make it passive, give it to Squire and I would guess that alot more people would give it a shoot. It would be a great option for humbucking enthusiasts.
Personally I just want them to bring back the fretless basses that look similar to a Jaco Pastorius bass (sunburst without no pickguard). I had one years ago, it sounded incredible for the price. I did a cover of Malignant Narcissism and it sounded great on that. I got rid of it for another bass, missed it so much that I got one used but it wasn't quite the same as that first one.

Personally, I'd like to see Fender/Squier offer something for the modern bassist, something with a two-octave neck. To my knowledge, there's never been a 24-fret Fender bass.
I'm nearly 60 and own a Fender subsidiary (Jackson) bass that offers this, but Fender seem so stuck in the past, it's painful.
I think the vintage modified should return as a higher quality paranormal. I got a paranormal and it wasn’t wired right. The tone knobs didn’t work. So I think the vm series was really cool. Maybe a jag bass with all the gadgets the guitar version does
How about a limited edition Late 60’s Bass V done by Squier? Or a Jaguar bass that matches the American version from a few years back with the three-way switches and the P/J configuration?

I'd just like Fender to make P basses with a body routing and scratchplate that means you can adjust the truss rod with taking the neck off.....small wins!
I'm looking forward to the Debut P Bass, but it's getting hard for these brands to compete with the Amazon cheapos coming out. For someone with the skill to do fretwork, you can't beat the price of a fully assembled and finished guitar over a kit, let alone offerings from brands like Squier or Ibanez.

Fender Japan made a semi-acoustic P-Bass called the PBAC-100… semi-hollow with an F-hole, P-Bass Lace Sensor pickup (it was the mid-1990’s) and a piezo in a wood acoustic-style bridge. If Squire could pull that off for $700 I’d get it… it was $700 in 1993 from Japan so I figure that’s not a bad asking price in 2024 considering a real PBAC-100 commands $2,000 plus today….

@@JonnyDibble I had one in my lap when I was 15. It was $700 and I couldn’t even think of asking my dad to buy it for me. Turns out I had a choice that day, either that bass or a 6 string bass. I picked 6 string and ended up with a beautiful Ibanez SR506 in Translucent Teal (I now own the 4 string SR590 Translucent Teal and am on the hunt for the teal 506, all built in the mid-1990’s). But, if Squire could pull that off (THEY HAVE THE TEMPLETS AND THE CAD FILES FFS!!!😂😂) I would be first in line….
My Squier Chris Aiken signature and Squier Mike Dirnt signature basses are better than my Mexican basses, hands down.
I really wish squier would make a Contemporary Dimension bass, don't even care if it's a single humbucker or two, seems like it would be a perfect fit for that line up. Sadly it seems that the fender ones sold poorly

30" scale P bass and J bass. I know they offer a mini P bass, but it's just too small and has quality control issues.

You forgot the Rascal in FullScale length. Not that Shortscale stuff (eben if its really great). If that existed, I wouldn't have gone for the Vintera II Tele. Which, of course, would also be a nice one in the Line up (they had a Tele some years ago). Maybe with 2 PUs, like the 2012 Tele from Fender. And you forgot to mention the Matt Freeman Precision, by far the best Bass they ever made. And, even if I don't like Jazz basses too much: Why not go for a signature Jazz? Don't think there are too many …
