Available at MelBay: www.melbay.com/samples.asp?Pro...
Visit: www.lagq.com
It's published on Mel Bay, in standard notation and tablature; I worked pretty hard to notate it correctly, as most of it was improvised.
Just found your channel after being a fan for more than twenty years. Subscribed and thank you for writing this version out; I’ve been wanting to figure out a few passages since college!
"Most of it was improvised". Hope you don't mind. There is a cover song of this, I think, in UA-cam. played by Russian Guitar Quartet, which kinda says "arranged by LAGQ".
Seeing and listening two versions of the same piece, by musicians from different backgrounds and environments, is great.
I have to say, I prefer russians to yours. Yours is not worse. You know.
Guitar starting from 4:45 is so good. That was the original reason I made this post, to say that. Absolutely great to hear that playing.
This video just popped into my head again after many many years.... Still love it and it makes me nostaglic for simpler times. Can't believe this video is 15 years old already!
Brilliant. I heard LAGQ in Copenhagen some years ago and I was running home to play my guitar. :) Not only are they great musicians but wonderful entertainers too! Good for the classical guitar!
Respect,
Per-Olov
No matter how often I come back to watch/listen to this video I end up smiling, laughing and just thoroughly enjoying it. They are truly masters of their art.
Played this in a guitar competition with my high school guitar ensemble and I can say, it is very difficult, but fun.
The best "Canon In D"-guitar I've seen to this day. Canon Rock doesn't stand a chance.
I like how they arranged the song and switch between the styles. It's impossible to decide what's most awesome: The country-style solo? The jazz part? The echo parts? The whole performance is absolutely awesome!
Was at this concert. Top 5 concerts I've every seen in any genre. Guitarists and non-guitarists absolutely loving it and on their feet cheering.
I loved the banjo impersonation that Scott Tennant did. That last variation was very neat too.
I got some video's of 4 or 5 year old me waiting for the Pachelbel part. Such a nice memory!!
That was a superb performance!
watched it thousand times
The LAGQ is fantastic! The 'Loose Canon' is gold!
I remember watching this genius video about 11 or so years ago! Maybe even more. So beautiful, and fun, gives me the same vibes now as it did then! Also inspired me to try and once again learn this song!
Guitar rules! Agreed? :)
no XD
The Guitar: an instrument unmatched in versatility.
I have loved this arrangement ever since I first heard it on their "For Thy Pleasure" CD. How very cool to be able to watch them play it!!!
That is incredible. Those guys are so talented and look like they are having fun. That is easily 11 out of 10. Fabulous!
I was lucky enough to see them perform this one live! Makes me really wish I could've kept up the lessons....Mr. Wallach, where ever you are- you were awesome!!!
Absolutely sublime. LAGQ takes Pachelbel's Canon in D and weaves it into an amazing tapestry of mixed genres.
The blues grass is my favorite part LAGQ For the win!!!
I saw this amazing show for more than 200 times in these years since I firstly saw it in 2011. I will never forget the beautiful and joyful feelings. Thank you so much LAGQ, thank you William.

From left to right they are, Andrew York, John Dearman, Scott Tennant and William Kanengiser. Andrew York left the quartet recently and now Matthew Greif is playing as the fourth member.
