I love Neil's voice in this. The song is, itself, good and cheerful, but only that -- not one of his best numbers, but definitely good. The spoken parts in this I love, though.
@HumGuitar Ayup. His name is David Battley, and it's probably kind of sad that his most famous role is as Charlie Bucket's teacher. I always liked him, though.
@graytart thats nice to know. :) and I love the fact that he (and the other bonzos) went to art school, just as I did. and there was a bonzo record (along with velvet underground and stuff like that) we used to have on in the class-room when we were painting and sculpting. good times. :)
@kyrastube It's true, his wardrobe was amazing - and I think he kept a lot of it. For example, the flowery pants he wore in the Rutles movie for the "Love Life" song were ones he wore during his Bonzos days!
@graytart aaaaah. wonder if he still got anything left. apart from the duckhat. haha. but these pants he had on in the policemans ball when he sang protest song as well you know. :) but now you mainly see him in jeans and tshirts. not as fun, but hey, he is still our very own lovable looney. :)
@graytart yeah I feel the same way... its cute and easily stick in your mind, but its not that W-O-W kind of song, as so many others of his songs are. but I would like to go through his wardrobe from the 60s and 70s. he really had some insaine clothes that just were so great. and I like how me matched things up, nothing went with anything else he had on, but he made it work. :)
First of all I know the answer to that!!!!! 2 Wonka bars out of 1000 would be .002%!!!!!! And every fucking Math teacher in the world should know that!!! But then again, that's the only kind of school that Charlie Bucket can afford, isn't it?
Although I am a rabid Neil fan I have to say this song is pretty weak (the Elvis ending notwithstanding). But worth it to see Neil in another astonishing pair of pants, and those great silver boots. And the legendary hat, of course.
1:41 David battley:fuck this I hate dancing Henry:oh yeah dance 3x Me :😯😲😮 David battley: I prefer beauty school dropout from the movie grease Me:🤭😆😁🙂😀
this is one of my new favorite songs. i get it happily stuck in my head all the time. it always cheers me up. thanks, neil.
This Is A Great Final Rutles Song
Sounds timeless
He looks so wonderfully young here .
Rofl, I love the first line. xD
"Everybody's looking great, and smellin' pretty good, too!"
I only just got the Ken Russell thing a few months ago. But still it's a great song

@kyrastube We know he still has the Mona Lisa jacket that he painted in art school - it was in his OBJETS DADA solo art show!

"...well i can't figure out just two...so let's say you opened two hundred..."
There is Charlie Bucket's teacher again!
It'll never never ever be filmed by Ken Russell
