Decent quality video, I really like the no talking. Writing on screen is much easier to follow than yakking. However, a comment about installing a decent quality compressor would be good. Putting in that junk reman unit will become an annual event for you.
Great video, super detailed. I followed it step by step, but when it came time to charge the system it seems something went wrong. My low pressure gauge read negative while I was charging (with the fan on max and AC temp set to it's lowest setting). I put 1 full 12 oz can of R134a and roughly half of the second can but all the while it was blowing warm. I pulled and held vacuum fine previously so I'm not sure what I did wrong. Is it possible that there is an issue elsewhere in the system and if so, what should I do next to troubleshoot? Thanks!
thanks. I was wondering where ac-compressor is located at. and how ac-compressor is being cooled-down during operational. our condo has ac-compressor outdoor for ac, and condo's ac-compressor blows hot-air, i thought car's ac-compressor gets as hot as condo's ac-compressor. condo's ac-compressor is made by emerson.
If i put a vacuum on the low side (big piping ) of the system does it pump down all through the entire system i dont have the connector for the smaller high side. Can i do this job without it?
yes it will pump down the entire system through just the low side but will take longer. and should hold the vacuum for a longer period of time to make sure it is all pumped out
Your video is perhaps the best video I found about replacing the compressor. Thanks. Do you happen to know which O-rings I need to purchase for the hose connector? Because I some people recommend replacing them.
Julio Pina Thank you for watching the video, glad that you liked it. For the O rings, I don't remember the specific size. I just buy the variety pack of A/C o rings usually available at most auto parts stores. Since it is not expensive so it is not worth the headache to find the specific size and just buy a few that would probably cost the same as the pack. Hope this helps and good luck with your A/C compressor change
A little extra oil probably better than not enough, when you hook up your manifold gauges, it can be poured into the yellow line. A smarter way, if you have a vacuum pump (which you should for this) is pull a vacuum on just the high pressure side, and with some oil measured out, remove your low pressure gauge line from the manifold and sick up the oil from low side using pressure on high side. Reconnect the low side line immediately when done adding oil and allow vacuum of the whole system. Also sorry can't tell ya about removing used oil from a used compressor.
Buenas tardes . Señores. Les agradezco si me pueden informar si allá puedo conseguir todos los repuestos de la suspensión delantera y trasera de una honda c.r.v. 2002. Gracias un abraso.
hello, I have a deep cr-v of 2011, it has a fault that chills when it wants to m, sometimes it cools well and sometimes it does not cool anything, only air comes out, what could it be?
If you dot have the equipment to recover it the only option is to just let it out into the air by pressing the pin in the service port down like how you deflate a tire. This is illegal so be careful. But when you are filling it up you will have to pull a vacuum so you will have to but a vacuum pump they are at around $100 and a gauge set at around $30 to $40. The freon you can buy from any parts store or super market like wal mart about $25 ish
@@4faidan such a bad advice...let it out into the air..if you dont have proper tools just go to any shop where they can recover the system and fill it back up when you are done with the repair
Great Video! I checked my pressure and relay and from what I have found out on these crv's it's a common issue. From your video it doesn't look to bad to replace. I would have to take it to get it vaccumed and charged. Seems like the dealer ship wants to charge alot of money to do this. Any help or advise you could spread to me would help out alot. Should I get a new one or a remanufactured one? I was looking on ebay and seen some from some reliable sellers. Thank you in advance!
AutomotiveMD Great! Trough watching some video's doesn't seem all that hard to replace the compressor. From what I have read this should have been a recall. Doing it myself should save my a $1,000 or more. Thank you for the reply.
I have an O'Reilly's Auto Parts near me. They rent out vacuum pumps for a deposit equal to the cost of the pump. Roughly $170. But, it is just a deposit in case you don't bring the pump back. It is essentially free (tool loan) as long as you use it and then bring it back!!! I plan to replace my compressor today! There are likely other parts suppliers that do the same.
On my 2002 crv, i had to remove the radiator and lower down the front defense bar a little so i can remove the screws off of the AC. But seeing this video it would have been way easier to just lower down the defense bar and leave the radiator alone.
Worst video I ever watched, I will look for better. No talking just writing on screen. Thanks for not showing oil going into compressor, this looks easy but this video don't say swat about anything being done, taking the belt off at 1st I thought you were trying to break top of engine area, you had a screw gun jammed down to unbolt the power steering pump witch I didn't catch it saying that, then taking belt off appeared real hard for you, that looked the hardest thing to due. At least you made it like that. I wish you spoke or had someone talk for you. Other stuff is helpful. Wheels only at 79 foot pounds, that seems low. The torque extensions I believe are 95/ 100/105 foot lbs, 3 color's, but its a Honda, not a AMERICAN VEHICLE even though its built here. Very shocking to be low torque, the shops should make them that carries them online and show a proper video for right car. It makes a difference now.
Honda: made in ohio, Michigan and Indiana with american parts and workers = not American Ford/gm/dodge: made in mexico/china with mexican/Chinese parts and labor somehow = American I'll never understand this logic
I think the 2006 is not the same as the 2007 through 2011. The clearance is different.
Did you change the dryer? Most autoparts supply won't warranty the compressor without replacing the dryer too..
the dryer only needs to be replaced if the system has been opened for 20 minutes or more

This video is beyond perfection. Straight to the point. I give it 10 out of 5. Yes you read that right.
What is the best brand compressor to buy for these CRV's ?
Worst ?
Great video! Did you have to lower the sub frame? I have a 2006 and all the other videos mention and show lowering the sub frame.
No as seen in the video it can be removed and installed without removing the sub frame.
That is awesome! Thank you! I would have but was dreading having to do that.

You ever get this fixed?
dont you need to vacuum it first?
thanks.

condo's ac-compressor is made by emerson.
there is a A/C condenser in front of the radiator the cools down the system
Do you have to lower the crossmember on this crv?

What if im using a low mileage used compressor? How or do i need to drain and refill the compressor with oil ?

It's the AC Compressor clutch failing. You would need to replace the compressor, which is what this video entails.
Can I do this without vacuuming system?
You can but as soon as you break the ac line free freon is gonna spray literally everywhere. Makes a huuuuuge mess.
Great video. The recovery of the freon kind of got skipped over a little bit. Is there a special procedure to do that?
If you dot have the equipment to recover it the only option is to just let it out into the air by pressing the pin in the service port down like how you deflate a tire. This is illegal so be careful. did you have to drain anything before these procedures ?
Yes you must depressurize the system before disassembly.
Best video I have seen for this hands down!!!!!
what site do you find the diagrams on
Awesome video, short and to the point. Thanks. Is the 3oz compressor oil amount was that the compressor or Honda’s recommendation? Thanks
That is the spec from Honda . and you should have 2.66 to 3oz of oil in the compressor, no more and no less.

You can buy the gauges and the vacuum pump from ebay ..... should cost about $100 to $150

OUTSTANDING!!!!!! BRAVO
so you didn't vacuum the lines that can be problem hope it didnt cause u a problem
Too fast?
You and Miami
Nope, this is 2007 and up.
Not bad, could be way better...
It does NO Good doing a good video if you don't explain what it is your doing.
Are you not able to read or something? It literally said everything on screen the entire video

Dumb ass comment , just read & use common sense
I don’t think you should be working on cars
