- Опубліковано 19 вер 2024
- On July 18th, 2015, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper appeared for an edition of “Piper’s Pit”, as part of MCW’s Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup 15. Former WWE Creative Writer, Kevin Eck, was Roddy’s guest and the topic was the use of writers in the ever-changing world of professional wrestling/sports entertainment. As always, Roddy Piper gives his candid thoughts on the industry, while recounting some incredible stories from his career. Sadly, the world lost Roddy Piper just 13 days later, on July 31st, 2015, at the age of 61. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends, at this extremely difficult time.
MCW Pro Wrestling immediately knew that we wanted to share the final Piper’s Pit with the world. This moment belongs to all of us who were fortunate enough to see this legendary performer in action. Join Shawn Credle and Danny Mays, as we honor the legacy of a true legend and a wonderful human being, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.

Man, this makes me miss him even more. Master of promos. Funny, charismatic, full of energy, and always made you super entertained when he took the mic. Never gonna be another one like him. R.I.P. Piper.
But there will be plenty of copycats and impersonators. Just like Elvis.
Gone too soon
One of the BEST Piper's Pits ever. And this was his last. HE KNEW he wasnt feeling right here. What a crying shame.
Well look at how he's sweating, drinking cold water etc.
But still he made the appearance.
Yes, kidneys were hurting here from high blood pressure problems.
@@SovereignStatesman Heavy lights and a leather jacket probably did help. What a champ.
"im not gonna make much more of these, so I wanna enjoy em while I can"
:-( eerie
Martin Lemus was just about too say the same
Martin Lemus That statement was sort of his farewell without us knowing it.
That was a hard hit when he said that. Just...WOW! Piper was my hero! There will never be another Rowdy Roddy Piper! :(
Martin Lemus you're killing me...
i've been hearing those 4 or 5 minutes.... and it reminded me of the Warrior saying goodbye in live TV
it's just......
so much pain.... hearing thos goodbye and not be able to do anything...because it's just the way it is...
Martin Lemus it WAS his last one, wow...
the fact he said in this video i will not make much more of these pipers pit wow that is unreal RIP Hot Rod, its like he new the end was in sight! damn so sad!
He had a blood clot in his lung. I think he knew he wouldn't be around much longer. I will always miss him.
Ann J no he had heart failure in his sleep
It's like he saw his death was coming.
Was he a heavy drug/steroid user back in the wwf days?
Gone way too soon.
@@kaptainkibiroproductions45 heart failure is a long term diagnosis, it doesn't just happen in your sleep
After all the Piper's Pits , this was the perfect one to go out on. Roddy was in top form, the crowd was awesome, the other wrestlers were so respectful. Damn I wish I was there!!
It was an incredible night, Roddy sat at the curtain the entire night and after every single match he pulled the talent aside and gave them advice even though he was paid at the beginning of the night and could have left right after his segment. It was an absolute honor to have him with us.
Roddy Piper was a once in a lifetime talent. He might not have been the greatest performer in the ring, but there was nobody better with a mic in his hand. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew or watched him. Rest in Peace Hot Rod
One of the nicest and most genuine national names to ever appear on our shows
He was actually a great performer in the ring
Just like Eddie and Warrior, he knew he didn't have much time left so he was just gonna go out there and give the best he could. RIP Roddy Piper
Headbanger142 eddie knew? Warrior and Piper obviously knew, R.I.P. But Eddie knew? How?
Eddie's could have been prevented if he put down the drugs and alcohol despite MANY doctor's warnings! People blame WWE but Eddie was his own man and only he can make the decision!
He always looked so happy and gracious to be at a show. Love his reaction to the 'kick ass and chew bubblegum' line, doesn't look like it was scripted. RIP Roddy.
what a way to end the last Piper's pit ever, this was amazing and so real....loved it! R.I.P Rowdy Roddy Piper you will be missed but you never be forgotten!
Mr Piper drove all the way to Jacksonville when I was little, just to moon the entire Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The guy could do whatever he wanted. Just a badass.
I'm so happy the crowd was as lively as they were. Pouring on the love to a great entertainer. No one will ever be more Rowdy.
Roddy never changed; even when he was first starting out people really liked him. He really cared about the fans and the wrestlers and its a huge loss. In the last couple weeks of his life people said he didn't look very well and its almost like he knew something was happening.
Him and Hogan made WWE. We love you and we miss you already, Hot Rod! #RIPRoddyPiper
the MAN of the hour
This was the best Piper’s Pit in years. One last hurrah. RIP Hot Rod Rowdy Roddy Piper.
I knew Rowdy well I was One of His Physical therapists when I worked with a Doctor in Oregon Got to Know Him Personally When He is Not Acting He Was a Man with a Huge Generous Heart Loved God and family He will be Missed
Sometimes you are lucky enough to be alive at the same time as someone else
Thanks for watching
I met Piper at his book signing and he was one of the nicest individuals I've ever met.. my wife and I walked up and he stood up and introduced himself to the both of us..like he needed an introduction.. and he complimented my wife and was so genuine.. Great Performer and a Greater Man! God Bless Rowdy Roddy Piper
His comedic timing, even here was perfect. An absolute genius at cutting promos. Grew up watching him. Will be sorely missed. Thanks for the upload.
This too reminded me Of Ultimate Warrior`s last TV appearance. Chilling words. I`m not sure if it was meant as just retiring or he as well knew something was up. I`m just thankful for the smiles Mr. Piper brought to us. R.I.P. Hot Rod!
Fondly remembered, dearly missed... Roddy lived the wrestling entertainement as no other. He was part of it, saw it grow international, had a legendary run, and most of all, he did his own thing. Nothing but love and respect.
Roddy "the best ever" Piper. Thanks for the memories Roddy.
Piper is the Man! I miss him dearly
Just seeing this for the first time. I never knew about it until now. Somehow he knew his health was failing. Can’t believe it’s been almost 6 years already. I respected the hell out of this guy.
I was at this event that July. The AC wasn't working and it must have been close to 90 in there. That is why Roddy was so sweaty. He was a really kind person and talked to us for awhile.
The open heart surgery he had about a few weeks prior certainly didn’t help
@@kaptainkibiroproductions45I don't see any evidence anywhere that he had open heart surgery.
So glad I could be apart of this crowd and I got to meet my idol that day Miss you piper
Amazing. A great topic for the last Pit. We miss you Hot Rod. Rest in peace
Hard to believe that 2 weeks after this he would be gone. RIP Roddy, you are missed.
This was a better segment than wwe could of put together.
One of a kind ! Reminds me of Saturday morning wrestling back in the 1980s Rest In Peace hot Rod
I remember the first time that WWF came to Indianapolis, it was the coldest winter night that was recorded. It was on January 1985 and -28 with a chill factor of -58 outside and Roddy Piper wanted me to take him to the Adams Mark so he could drink. Wendy Richter was in Indianapolis as well. Roddy Piper wanted me to get Wendy Richter to come and have a drink with him. This went on all night with Wendy turning him down. By the time I brought Roddy Piper back to the Rodeway Inn he tipped me $100. He went to his room and passed out and by the time he got up he missed his flight to the next city and he told my boss that he wanted to kick my ass because I got a $100 tip. He told them that I took the money from him. Roddy Piper I will never forget that night for nothing. You was a great man and I was glad to have met you. R.I.P. Roddy Piper
I used to love watching Rowdy Roddy Piper on TV as a kid. I started off as a fan of WCW and remember watching him then, I would always go mad with excitement when he came on TV. My dad purchased The Royal Rumble 1990 on video and asked if I wanted to watch it with him. I said no, he told me Piper was in it, so I sat and watched! Love this man. A true legend who will always be remembered. His spirit will forever be in my heart, that's for sure! R.I.P Rowdy Roddy Piper #ThankYouPiper
😭 god bless Rowdy Roddy piper. Rest In Peace Roddy Piper. Thanks so much for sharing MCW. I read about your company in a book Golden age. Keep up the great work.
Thanks so much for checking us out, make sure to subscribe to the channel and don't lose touch with us 😀
@@mcwprowrestling you got it. You all please stay safe 😷. Keep pro wrestling alive.
Loved his arrogant swagger when he walked toward the ring. Bless his heart.
R.I.P. CHAMP YOU ARE SO MISSED.
Even when hes not in gd health, hes mind is as sharp as ever
Thanks for all the memories and good matches Mr. Piper. You were tough as nails and one of the best! Rest In Peace....
I don't think he's going to "Rest In Peace," he's going to be kicking ass and chewing bubble gum FOREVER!
The pure joy on Piper's face at 19:45 made this entire video worth watching! ❤
What a night that was for us, it was really special, thanks for watching and spending 20 minutes of your day with us
Either as a heel or face, he will always be loved
This is everthing Piper , Thank you MCW for this, as a fan and a human who is out of buble gum.
Thanks for watching
I miss ya “Hot Rod.” Thanks for the great memories. RIP sweet prince !
No doubt!
''I had a lot of fights in Baltimore... some of them in the ring''... lmao
pure gold. Only Piper could come up with that.
Sooooo glad I got to meet and chat with him!!!!!
Man.... this was tragic..... R.I.P. Hot Rod!!!! You will definately be missed
Why would ANYONE "dislike" this segment? It was very well done. Just as good...if not BETTER than anything WWE puts on TV. Thumbs up to MCW & all that were involved!
from January 1984 to July 2015, Piper's Pit was truly amazing. thank you, Hot Rog
I grew up watching him,he was one of a kind.
RIP Rowdy Roddy Piper. You will be truly missed.
Rowdy Roddy Piper May Be Gone , But Can NEVER Die!!!
I miss this man..he was one of my favorites..i cried like hell when he passed
God, Piper was truly amazing. You are truly missed.....
I laughed my ass off at the bubble gum line from Roddy's movie 'They Live'. Thank you, Roddy! You made my childhood great, as you did for so many others.
MCW - Y'all do class act work, and this was above and beyond most indie material. Thank you. From all I can convey over this medium. #ThankYouRowdyRoddyPiper
Tears...
Now that....from start to finish...was well done. Thank you.
Thanks for this!
Hot Rod will be remembered forever.
This was great. Piper don't need anyone writing for him. He was multitalented. And he wasn't afraid to tell Vincent Kennedy McMahon to shove it.
Love him or hate him, everyone respected him !!! Thanks Hot Rod !!!!
#ThankYouRoddyPiper
#thankyouRowdyRoddyPiper
If anyone is reading this and actually hasn't seen the movie "They Live" (starring Roddy Piper) yet, SEE IT. Or I'll come and kick your ass, because I'm all outta bubble gum.
+thedarkener no
I forgot he was in Body Slam! That movie is so funny =}
george fish what are even talking about
My first time seeing MCW. I though this was a very well-done segment. Better than I anticipated considering Piper was interviewing a former WWE writer, and Kevin Eck played the heel role well.
The very first segment I ever saw in WWF was the infamous Piper-Snuka incident with the coconut.
Farewell, Roddy.
thank you piper and R.I.P
Damn Hot Rod... there will never be another like you.
and I'm outa bubblegum too
Thank you Roddy! 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you sharing. R.I.P. Roddy Piper. God Bless!
Watching him go black and white really hits hard. I miss Piper so much, wrestling hasn't been the same ever since his death.
Thanks for watching
Roddy didn't look well at all. I think he knew he was pretty near the end of the line. RIP Roddy - You'll be missed!
JaleelJohanson62 You are on the shit list now bitch! That's for goddamn sure.
Camille Lake Is that anything like Schindler's list? Just trying to get a point of reference... lol
JaleelJohanson62 Schindler's list.... and not the true colors come out -- don't they.
Wow, it's like he knew :( when he said he wasn't gonna make much more of these
16:27 Rowdy Roddy Piper in a nutshell. He'll say whatever the hell he wants with a live microphone, and before Steve Austin started doing that with a middle finger raised, Piper was doing it first. #RIP.
I got to meet Roddy earlier that day in Williamsport MD at his final in store autograph signing. Such an amazing person and treated me liked I was a friend. I was going to go to the MCW event and remember him talking about how he was headed there after his signing. Little did I know that the signing I attended would be one of his final two public appearances and final in store signing
I had the honour of being on the only edition he did in Scotland so to see this last one is great he will be missed
Man he should have just done a 1 man talk show and talked about everything he did and what he saw for 3 hours like a long podcast on a stage.
That would have been great
I got a little teary eyed miss this man
Thanks for posting this.
The only reason I ever started watching Wrestling, I was 8 yrs old at wm3........I got to meet piper, get a autograph and a pic, was the greatest day of my life, He is probably missed by millions, but we seen him on wife swap with Ric flair, What a great family man, I named my son Roddy Rowdy.............he hated me for it, he is 10 now, I showed him old vids of piper and he is stoked about his name now, but says he wants to be a wrestler, lol. A couple months ago he wanted to be a race car driver, next week maybe an astronaut...............and beyond
That's my man right there and I love all your comments on this legend!. So great to see that he was as loved by most people as
by me. Hot Rod forever !
The GOAT for sure, thanks for watching
I discovered wrestling around 87. I was 5. as far as I remember, there was never as time I didn't like him but odd as it may sound I never thought of him as the heel. maybe its fuzzy memory or I just loved how wild he was...again I was a young boy. if there is one singular regret I carry with me through life, its that I never got to meet him, shake his hand or ask for a hug if he would have let me. as morbid as this may sound. I sometimes wish we had the ability to know the day we or others will be taken from us so we can have closure, so we can have one final moment with them. what a wonderful man and performer!
Still so sad - can't believe he's gone. R.I.P. Hot Rod!
I love Roddy he was the best of tough guys . They will never be another Hot Rod R.I.P
so i guess Austin got him fired from what i understand... thats stupid
He certainly was my favorite wrestler to watch
I was bullied, starting in 3rd grade, and every school year after that. Every year, it got worse and worse. It was decades before the dawn of the internet. I was also bullied at work by supervisors and co-workers. We had an apartment manager who bullied both my sister and I. My sister Cindy, battled depression for 18 months in the early 90s. She wasn't suicidal. Just sad. She still feels sad from time to time. But, for the most part, she overcame it. She is doing fine now.
Glad she is doing better Thanks For Watching
Man this is so sad. If you think about it, Roddy had plenty to give to the industry still, and has already done enough to make a monument for him. Even his most recent Piper's Pits segments were good.
#thankyouRowdyRoddyPiper
When I think of Professional Wrestling to date, it's promotions like Maryland Championship Wrestling I think of. Had it not been for territories, WWE would have been a gleam in Vincent Kennedy McMahon's eyes. They didn't get to where they are today, because they don't remember the humble beginnings. Also they didn't get to where they are without one man....Rowdy Roddy Piper. A man that could keep alot of asses in the seats, and thump many an ass into the seats. He was one of a kind. And he was one hell of a man at that. RIP Roddy Piper... And Thank you MCW for doing this tribute. And MCW...you have something happening there...and something big...just keep it up and you'll be bigger and better than ever..
Even till the end, he was still a blast in the ring.
R.I.P Hot Rod!
Thank you for this posting I will miss him dearly.
Was a cool guy.. heel or good guy... always loved
Classic video!!!!!! Good shit!!!!
He knew he was dying , What a Fucking Legend!!!!
5tonyvvvv howd he know?
***** he predicted he would not make it to 65
5:30ish he knew his health was worsening and death was around the corner.
U can see in his face that he was in pain. But he was giving everything to entertain us.
RIP
legend forever
We are so glad he was able to be here for this, he was an absolute pleasure
God i love his chuckle
thanks for watching
God Bless you Roddy. REST IN PEACE.......
Pls Don't delete this video the greatest of all time miss you hot rod the greatest heel of all time
We will never delete this video Thanks for watching
Gonna miss piper
Late to the party for this segment, but this was VERY well done. From RRP coming out and delivering essentially a monologue for several minutes to the "heat-filled" shoot with the ex-WWE writer, the slap apology and then the push for the promotion's own talent at the end. Easily as good as a major promotion could execute. And the fans are clearly engaged throughout to boot. 👏 👍
"Reason Warrior was running so fast cause he didn't see me" that was a shot a Cena
Long live the memory of the late, great Roddy Piper. xoxo The Clarences
That moment when he said "I'm not gonna make much more of these" gave me chills
The fist time I saw this was great! What a great old school ending. We miss Roddy 😢
But a great last tribute to Pipper and the pit.
Well done!
Thanks for watching
We miss you Roddy, I still have your action figure on my desk. Love ya!
Yeah, We Agree
R.I.P. "Hot Rod" Thank you for all the years of entertainment! I will never forget you!
