it's funny how Matty gets nervous in front of small crowds but can slay full sold out shows like they're nothing. he says he can see everyone's eyes in a small crowd where as it's all blured when playing in front of a huge amount of people.
it's that and then this isn't their usual audience, so he can't be as frontman dramatic, plus this is an older demographic of viewers for this show. It's a number of things for his nerves here, but smaller crowds due seem to make him more shy and nervous for sure though.
if you've ever stood infront of a huge crowd, theres something about it that dehumanizes it, just looking at a big mass of people, it feels alot less personal and intimate, makes it alot easier to just shrug off nerves and do your thing like its not there.
These guys are old school. Proper band of proper musicians who write great pop music for young people (though I’m sure plenty of oldies enjoy it too). They’ll go down in history like The Police, INXS, Duran Duran, and all the other great pop bands of the 20th Century

These guys are right up there with the very best. AND this particular performance is head and shoulders the best performance of 2022.

Just listened to both of the later performances and whilst I'm not comparing them in any way, I was slightly reminded of Joe Jackson a couple of times...which is the highest praise I can give them, I really like the intelligent pop vibe they're going for, a lot more difficult than it looks
