"You'd think they'd smell like pasta, but they don't". Lol, that went right over his head! South-Central Illinois humor! I guess you have to live around these parts to catch that!
We use to have a full line Heston dealer in Michigan. We had a Heston tractor that was really a good tractor. It was a 4wd loader tractor. Also ran tons of Heston hay equipment.
This was a cool interview. Alot of lost history. Thanks. I farm in KY. with a 1580DT came from Shearer Farm equipment. Wooster OH. Also a 980DT, and a 90-100DT. They are great tractors.
Hi Ryan, love the videos. Just a few questions were asked, Fiat purchased Hesston in 1977. Ford purchased New Holland in 1986. Very early in the 90's Fiat purchased Ford New Holland. Around 1999 Fiat purchased Case IH. It then became CNH. They now all use FPT engines (good engines) Fiat Power Train. I think Pininnfarina we're the design house used by Fiat. Porsche were used for design etc by IH for the cab that were introduced in the eighties, at least in Europe. I am in the UK, Fiat were sold overhere and I sold a few in the Seventies. I thought the 780 was cool at the time. They sounded fantastic. Fiat were dominating the European market in the eighties. A full story on Wikipedia.
@@RyanKelly-Wititan2 Pininnfarina have recently done a job for New Holland, futuristic looking Grape Harvester. I think they did work for Lamborghini Tractors. Of course plenty of cars, Ferrari, Lancia, Bentley, Alfa, Fiat, Peugot and more !
We had them all in Kenya in the 70s 80s and 90s started with 850 DT Supers …all models 780 ,1380, 1580 … then the 90 series which were the best good simple cheap tractors .. much more power than they rated in the book .180-90 DT was an absolute beast . The cabs on the 80 and 90 series were designed by Pininfarina . Heston was sold to Fiat Agri in 1977 ..now owned by AGCO ..
I now have tons and tons of questions for Nick now always enjoyed hesstons hay equipment but the rest of the line I've always been curious about I know I'll love the episode love to get in contact with him
We bought a 980 hesston with a loader back in the late 90's. It's still on the farm. Only thing we've done is a clutch and tires. We are disbursing our equipment now..going to be hard to see it go. Loaded alot of feed with that tractor. Always starts no matter how cold
Back in the 1980's the local john deere dealer here sold hesston hay equipment but there was never a hesston tractor dealer near me. I have never seen a hesston tractor localy but there were a lot of hesston balers and haybines.
Here in my part of europe in my village is 3 Fiatagri tractors grandpa have Baler. One friend have Fiatagri F 140 from 1997 or 1998 he had some electrical issius. One neighbor have 110 -90 i think he pulls 4 furrow no problem in mud
The Irish especially love the 100-90 and 110-90 , dream tractor to a lot . Dont know of any following in the UK , most fiat's were exported to Ireland or have long rotted away and scrapped (Italian sheet metal pretty bad at lasting in our damp environment)
We had a small 88-94DT (DT is 4wd). I think it actually had a galvanised cab frame under the paint/powder coat to solve the rotting problem. Sold with like 4k hrs in nice condition , but I absolutely hated it , everything banged/squeeked in the cab, brakes screamed when oil hot and you could hear the transmission whine from a mile away. The only tractor i was happy that was sold , only shame it was new on the farm and rest are were all used but man, I couldn't stand using it.
It would be nice if you could show the tractor in detail while telling your stories. We would like to see and hear something about Massey Ferguson 1130, 1150, 1135 or 1155 at some point. I am going to subscribe.
I don't know he was kinda wishy washy on some of his answers and things he was saying . Was really was not sure on something's also. But very informative and makes me want to investigate this brand and model number further.
He wasn’t sure on some things because his family owned the dealership. He was a kid when they were selling them. At one point he said he was 5 yrs old when they were selling them.

Fiat tractor are legendary here in Ireland, particulaly the 90 series. The 110/90 is still working hard on many farms to this day. Nice tractor.
They have an almost cult like status 😉. Have a 130/90 on our farm. 💪
A local silage contractor near me had them when I was a lad great looking tractors and u would know the sound of them coming, very distinct sound.

My dad bought a Hesston tractor with front wheel assist and hay conditioner new in I think 78-79.

Nick is the man
100-90 . Used as the main toll on a dairy unit. Very stable on the slopes.

Great video. HESSTONs are hard find.
Hit Nick up, he could hook it to something and do a big tractor power video. Have a hard time finding a nicer one

Would love to hear the tractor running, normally Fiats have a nice loud turbo whistle.
Seems to be lots of Fiats in Quebec, see quite a few come up for sale there.

As mentioned in the comment below, Nick was 5 when that tractor was built
Some people always need to criticize other people.
Mention a Hesston in Northern Illinois dealer guessing Francis Henry in Kings,IL . Early 80's.
well that was a most uniformative formative interview… he didn’t know know well i think so .. well I am not sure.. maybe… 😅
