Demon Lord Ghirahim is revealed to be the spirit of Demise's Sword, much like Fi is for the Master Sword. There are some cool hints to his true identity before the reveal!
Ghirahim added so much flair to Skyward Sword. Easily the best secondary antagonist in the series. I love how spunky and crazy he can be at times but also stays completely devoted to his master.
Agree, I even feel he is the real antagonist of the game, and The Imprisoned/Demise is just a plot device Edit: even though I love the fight against Demise, in an ethereal lake with the thunders and all, very cool
I would argue that Ghirahim is straight-up one of the best antagonists in the series, the only real other contender for "best antagonist" is WW Ganondorf
i know Ganondorf's main weapon tends to vary from his trident to twin swords, but i would love to see Ghirahim's sword form come back as Ganon's weapon
We don’t really know what became of it either. After Link defeats Demise, the sword vanishes. What’s stranger is that Demise seems surprised/disappointed that the sword vanished. Was it destroyed? Absorbed by the Master Sword? Did Ghirahim abandon Demise? Or did the Sword vanish to some far away location or realm? We have no idea.
@@Mari_Izu Have Ganon forcibly separate his personality from the sword so he can wield it because Girahim refuses to serve Ganon and have them be opposing antagonists. Girahim could ultimately sacrifice himself to destroy the power of the sword to allow Link to defeat Ganon. For selfish reasons of course
@@El.F0Z094 I find that strange as a fan of zelda. So termina is another dimension. The goddess of time holds sway there, but she may be the only one because time outdates power, courage, and wisdom. So i find it strange that hylia and demise would hold sway there too. Also, why would he only inhabit the sword because of gold dust? Like i get the similarity with the pattern, but it really doesn't make sense. And why would that blade ever serve link. Why would the blade of demise ever serve the hero of Hylia who at that time took the form of the Hero of time?
@@jhomastefferson3693 idk if this would support the theory above, but it's theorized that Hylia might be the Goddess of Time, due to common time themes within Skyward Sword's story, the Sheikah, the Master Sword or Zelda/Sages of Time etc. Although some people argue that Nayru is the actual Goddess of Time so it's not completely conclusive, but a thought I wanted to mention.
Oh that's a sick idea Now imagine the new bad guy wants to use Gannon's power to rule or whatever, and Gannon wants to use this new guy as a vessel and a means to return to the physical or something, both of them against Link, both of them against each other! A triangular power struggle.

Then from there Ganon is a lesser boss with this new antagonist being the greater threat; after beating the vessel, a much more powerful Ghirahim breaks free and is the final boss. He was the subservient role in Skyward Sword, but now he's the powerful Demon Lord he always wanted to be.
Legit I don't understand why a replica of his blade isn't in BOTW or TOTK. Hell with the way TOTK went it wouldn't have had to be a replica. Feels like Nintendo wants to pretend he doesn't exist

Ghirahim is one of my favorite villains in the Zelda Franchise with his flamboyant personality slowly shedded to show a sadistic, cunning, and merciless literal weapon of destruction… AND HIS NOT EVEN THE MAIN VILLIAN.
Ghirahim also makes note of the sword Link wields, saying that Link could only stand up to him because of that sword. The way he said it, though, could indicate that he was treating Link’s sword not as some tool, but as an equal in the most literal sense. Also, the knowledge that Ghirahim’s the Dark Master Sword brings new and disturbing context to him stealing the Goddess Sword from Link and even licking it during their first duel.
I think we were all waiting for Fi to pop on out of the sword and slap him silly for that last bit! I mean hon, you know she was uncomfortable even if it is Fi 😣 just ewww
I wish they would bring back Fi. The master sword having a soul and talking to link is an awesome concept that they only used for a single game. I feel like there's so much untapped potential
Fi talks to Zelda briefly in a cutscene in TotK. There's no dialogue box but you can hear Fi's sound effect. I think there is a similar instance in BotW too but I don't remember 100% for sure on that.

Skyward Sword being 1 of my top 3 games and my second Zelda game I’ve 100% completed I am surprised I’ve never noticed Ghirahim’s text box change in the very last fight with him
I love that demise's sword/ghirahim is an opposite to the master sword as well. While the MS is a slender, clean blade, demises sword is a big, black, jagged blade. The triforce is reversed on demises, and the "wings" that make up the cross guard are more jagged amd spiky

I think both fi and him are great fairy's , the form of spirits are mentioned is similar to fairy's . In twilight princess also we get to know that fairies can live inside of objects like the wind boomerang.
I'm still a bit disappointed they didn't include him as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. His final smash could have been him turning into his sword form and Demise launching a barrage of strikes at foes while wielding him.
Something I just realised that also displays Ghirahim's inverse nature to Fi is that Fi is a spirit that resides within the Master Sword, but Ghirahim was a spirit in which Demise's sword resided.

The gray ghost pokémon is banette and the purple cat is purrloin from gen 5 (black and white and bw2) and the brown wooper is a paldean wooper from the paldea region from Gen 9 (scarlet/violet). This little pink "helicopter" pokémon is a hoppip. This pokémon from 52:00 minutes is clodsire the evolution from paldean wooper and this pokémon from 1:00:35 is goomy from Kalos Gen 6(XY)
I mean, I haven't played the game yet, but it still surprises me that I simehow didn't know this!? So I'm on one hand a little "Oof" cause I got one of the few things I didn't yet know spoiled, but on the other hand also just genuinely surprised
Skyward sword is so underrated. Like I understand not liking it if you don’t like linear Zelda games or the amount of interruptions annoys the hell out of you, but I don’t mind the linear design and I can over look all the interruptions bc when you are interrupted it’s usually by one of my favorite characters in the whole franchise. Chracter writing, music, and art style are what makes this game one of the best Zelda’s IMO. Probably 2nd or 3rd favorite

Ghirahim is such a great villain, he’s not only unsettling, but he has a personality unlike any other villain in the Zelda series
The tongue scene early on set my expectations for him as a villain.
Now imagine if he teamed up with Hades from Kid Icarus Uprising.
