This looks and, more importantly, sounds amazing! I've been watching the development closely and the UI looks like it may well have achieved what many have failed at in the past and that's an immediate and intuitive way of working with FM synthesis. Hugely excited about this!!
When the keyboard version comes I'm going for it. Awesome work and finally a synthesizer which makes sense of a combination of knobs and touchscreen. Sounds amazing!
A very exciting development in the world of FM Synthesis. I see that the user experience is still very much menu driven and what excites me about your invention, is the possibility of using touchscreen technology in combination with real-time modulation. May I suggest XY controller options. I create my own touchscreen control panels for synths and FX using TouchDesigner, and my favourite element is the XY pad, usually having 4 on any screen as then 2 fingers on each hand have instant control over 8 simultaneous parameters. It’s very intuitive and I imagine, with your excellent synth engine at the heart, a lot of fun in making music. There is no synth out there utilising that level of control but your innovative design would accommodate such instantly interesting features. Cheers
Could do with another LFO at least per sound. I need an FM - currently considering replacing my Hydrasynth 49 with an iridium keyboard to get it (and keep the Poly AT) - but this is an option, and would cost less than the swap. Keeping tabs on the FW updates (the syncable delay was a big one last time - just need that LFO to push me over the edge).
I am returning my OpSix to pick this up, I think it would go better along with the MPC Live 2, it has poly aftertouch, multitimbral and a bit more featurepacked in a compact format
It's possible with the modulation matrix, by modifying the voice volume with different ratios you can for example do a fading between two voices (or more) with your mod wheel or any other controller.
@@Kodamo Merci.
I wish the Iridium’s touch screen could have been as nice and responsive as Kodamo’s! Such a no-brainer for what’s arguably the most important element of the interface.
@@Kodamo Thank you for your quick reply. Maybe an update could make more than 24 available in the future? It seems like a great feature, but 24 feels a little limited. Digging some of the sounds I am hearing, seems like a cool machine you have created here.
The feedback is on Operator #1 and is freely assignable, see parameters "Fb Src" (operator source, 1...6) and "Fb Level" (feedback amount, 0...127) in this picture: kodamo.org/img/feedbacks.jpg The single feedback is compensated by the fact that you can have a lot of links between operators, you lose control over the sound before reaching the limits.
I really wanna get one of these and see what I can do with it. I really like NI’s FM8 but with the way I like to work I would like to work our of the box as much as I can and this is the only FM synth that has even come close to as cool as that. It’s actually surpassed it in my opinion. Not the same, but it doesn’t need to be the same, I actually like the differences. FM synthesis is my favorite type of synthesis (granular being second and wavetable being third).
Hi, multitimbrality is 16 parts. Polyphony is 300 notes if each note has only one layer, or lower (eg. 75 notes if each patch has four layers playing simultaneously). You can check at kodamo.org there is all the info you need (scroll to the bottom of the page)
Bonjour ! peux t'on utiliser cet instrument en stand alone tel qu'une elektron , un gotharmam LD3 , une une Roland MC ? C'est à dire rentrer les notes du séquencer par l'écran, créer plusieurs pistes . Merci ... cocorico ! Can we use it in a stand alone configuration ?
Bonjour, en stand-alone il propose la lecture de fichiers MIDI et le jeu via l'écran tactile, mais il n'est pas possible de composer directement. On réfléchit à implémenter un petit tracker/séquenceur, peut-être dans une version future du firmware.
FM is great, always cuts through in the mix - but not all FM is good such as NI's FM synths and various other softs synths which don't cut through in the mix. This thing is the real deal and whilst some of the demo sounds are rather cheesy I dont let that put you off because this thing is ideal for Techno,. House DNB, Dubstep etc. What I generally like about FM is the bass. What I mean by that is the bass that FM produces is rarely to much and requires lots of processing. My TX81Z bass sounds that I make in minutes never require bass added or removed. When I use my Moog or some other analog synths I always have to faff around endlessly to get the bass to fit in the mix. Always have to reduce teh bass frequencies significantly. I do find with most analog sysnths I have used I have to do that. Sort of puts me off because as a former bass guitar player again I would arrely have to reduce bass frequencies. This thing would be an excellent bass machine
We'll make a model with 280 knobs and 5 voices just for you :) Joking apart, 1 note can trigger anywhere from 1 to 128 voices, hence the huge polyphony.
What a small audio powerhouse. The UI is simple and thoughtfully laid out. Quite the machine! Kodamo EssenceFM is on my bucket list.
I'm shocked I just now discovered this! Super impressive work!
Astonishing sound, great features, and marvelous touch control! Compliments!

This is a god-level FM synth. Just by looking at the parameter options I know it's the best FM out there. Amazing work guys!
Super ambitious!
I feel foolish for not watching this sooner. Midi learn is built into the mod matrix options, nice! This will speed up my patch making a lot
I haven’t been this excited for a synth since the Access Virus B. 😍😍😍
When the keyboard version comes I'm going for it. Awesome work and finally a synthesizer which makes sense of a combination of knobs and touchscreen. Sounds amazing!
Fantastic, very excited to receive mine!

I'm really interested in this!

Only just discovered this synth, how many years after its release?! WOW this thing looks and sounds great!
Magnifique synthé FM, et surtout très ergonomique!
Looks and sounds wonderful. I will definitely grab one hopefully at the end of the year.
Very exciting ... I really looking for mine arriving!
Very soon, we ship before the end of April for preorders !

Are the 24 users waveforms per patch, or the total for the entire machine?
They're global to the entire machine

Need more info about modulator feedback routings , also freely assignable , how many per algo etc...?

Il y a 8 sorties indépendantes (4 stéréo / 8 mono)

can all the parameters (e.g. for sound-design, effects, etc.) be midi-mapped to an external hardware midi-controller via midi-learn?
You can map most of the sound parameters to any MIDI CC so external hardware can control them
The brass and strings are samples?
No it's only FM. Realistic sounds usually takes some time to fine-tune but there is really no limits with this synthesis

They need to hold out features for their next box.
