Infiniti has used hybrid technology in the best way possible, to increase both performance and fuel economy simultaneously. A 50kw electric motor is coupled with a 3.5L V6 which produces a combined output of 360hp. This is significantly higher than the BMW 335i. Despite its near 4200 lb curb weight the Q50s hybrid launches itself to 60mph in 5 seconds flat.
The q50s isn’t a one trick pony. Sure it’s good in a straight line but how about we add in the fact it gets 27mpg city and 31 mpg highway. Thats mighty impressive for a sports sedan.
A very unique and exciting feature about the Q50s is its adjustable steering. Users are able to select effort settings ranging from heavy to light, and response options from quick to casual. Infiniti refers to this as steer by wire. In case the system fails there is a backup mechanical steering column for safety.
The q50s is a beautiful car. The new exterior is lightyears ahead of the previous generation. Its got the looks, the performance and the technology to compete with BMW, Audi and Mercedes. I’m sold.

I seen these things in corners, very very impressed.
Prior to owning a Q50 with DAS I would have said the most direct steering I had ever experienced was in a Ferrari 458. The Q50 may be even more direct in full sport mode.
Interesting comment on ride comfort. I drove my Q50 and a Jag XKRS in the same week. The ride was very similar in comfort - both cars, to me, are extremely comfortable.

I think that Infiniti has great potential to become the worlds leading class in luxury, their upcoming concepts that are for official release soon enough will have competitors running out of business for the money. Infiniti's technology is superb, and performance needs some tweaking and refinement but it will eventually catch up to their competitors such as BMW, Audi and Benz. Their exterior look just blows me away, it's far different than the other luxury brand and more refine with modern blends that makes it seem years in advance.

I'd take a Mercedes C400 over this. More power, better quality, almost the same reliablity. Slightly more money but you pay for what you get.

ukropadam Of course Mercedes is better quality then Infinity. Have you not sat inside a new C class Mercedes? All the materials, the leather the wood, the quality and functions of the screen/entertainment system. Even the feel of the door handles feels better then the Q50. It makes sense since its at a higher price point, but hands down infinity is amazing for the price,but it is cheaper for a reason.
I have BMW 750Li and C43 2015 and my wife has this Q50S Hybdrid. The BMW have gone to the workshop about 4-5 times and it has 114k km on it. The Mercedes around 10times for various of reasons, but the infiniti - 0 times. How about that for a comparison?
Steer by wire is really the future autonomous driving. A lot automotive journalists get this wrong, Infiniti is the pioneer in introducing the drive by wire technology together with fine ajustments to the steering for self driving car. very impressive technology.
Got this last year and I love it! Going to be my car for a while!

I am not sure why people are comparing this Hybrid Q50 to BMW 335's.....Compare the 335's to the RS400 Q50. All this talk about new BMW and MB's being just a s reliable as INFINITI and Lexus, Let's wait another 5-7 years for that comparison.....I have owned most of them....My G37x is a remarkable car. Far more reliable than my 540i MSPORT. I have driven the Q50 hybrid....it's very nice, surprising nice.
If anyone has driven with both the conventional electric-assist steering as well as the drive-by-wire system, would you say the electric-assist steering still feels fun to drive with in comparison to the drive-by-wire?
Mo Mehio i went from driving a electric assist to steer by wire with my 2015 q50 sport and once i hopped back in the electric after a few months i hated it and avoided it. Got right back in the Q50

stepped inside one of these and wasnt the biggest fan of the interior, having two screens is cool but navigating quickly at stoplights is tricky. the rest of the interior didnt seem like they blended or matched eachother, too many types of materials. also with the hybrid theres very little space in the backseat for me being 5"10
I got a 2014 Q50 Hybrid with 36k miles for $27,800 in 2022. It retailed $54,000 fully loaded in 2014.
A 150,000 mile bumper to bumper extended warranty was $2,689.
Man, im stuck on the hybrid or the 3.7, are there any big differences in the both cars?
How’s the hybrid battery holding up after all those years? I’m looking into a 2016 but concerned about the longevity of it as it’s a costly replacement.

Is cabin noise on highway comfortable enough? Can it compare to mercedes, bmw or audi?
My mom had a G37X and then got a Cadillac CTS. The Nissan felt much lighter on its feet. I hated the Caddy lol...I prefer Japanese cars over German and American 9 times out of 10. Would be tough to choose between this and the 335i. I'd have to drive both to their limits. I'd probably go with the Beemer because it can be had with a manual transmission.

I own a Q50S hybrid since November 2013. Great car. Some issues that I can forgive but Infiniti as a dealer and manufacturer doesn't like to take responsibility for some safety issues. Will be my last Infiniti product after owning G35's in the past.

***** Yeah don't get me wrong the Q50S Hybrid is a good car in terms of handling, power, efficiency, and tech (especially the driver assistance tech that saved me many times). But there is a powertrain issue with my car and Infiniti refuses to address it saying it was normal that my car lost all power.
Hey dude that happened to me too. Twice. Gave it about 15% throttle taking a left. Got to 25mph and it stopped accelerating. Had to let off throttle and put back to go anywhere

I wouldn't call it a 335i killer. The 335i in my opinion still has the better driving dynamics, and looks (subjective). You guys should drive the ActiveHybrid 3. That weighs a lot less than this (3825 lbs), and it should perform better as the N55 engine in the 335i/AH3 are underrated.

Hows this have steer by wire but has the aluminum inside and not wood? Trying to buy a q50s with no wood inside but want the packages. Dealers are saying you cant get the packages if you want aluminum inside as soon as you put on tech or touring package it puts wood inside.
+Richard Galya Jr. thats strange, my dads q50sh is fully loaded with the aluminum trim. Theyre bullshitting you i think. Unless its a regional thing.

btw the wood still looks nice with it as well, I have one with liquid platinum (silver exterior) and graphite/wood interior, looks beautiful

Car is almost perfect. Road noise is a bit high. Chassis feels a little skittish even getting kind near the limit. I feel like little bumps in the road want to fling the car off
Gorgeous car, but I would take my BMW over Infiniti anyday. However, they did an excellent job on the exterior design, but I am still not a fan of their interiors. Either way, good job Nissan/Infiniti..thumbs up!
I've owned an F30 335i X-Drive and driven the G37x and they really do not compare much. The BMW is faster, nimbler, brakes better, has better ride quality with the adjustable dampers and so on. The G37 is way cheaper though ..
Be careful the way you drive those dealer cars as I don't think you have acquired yet Chris Harris's driving skills..

Not a 335 killer at all but I personally love the look and style of the Q50. Reliability is the main thing this Infiniti is a "killer" over the BMW. I've switched to Inifiniti after owning a few Audi's and BMW's... Plus about 10 grand cheaper, you can't go wrong.

Not the 335i. I've owned it before and the 330i e90 gen. The q50/q60 sits in the middle.
Yes a Q50 wouldn't stand a chance but the hybrid is a different story. You're talking torque north of 400 ft/lbs instantly thanks to the electric motor.

Yessir. I'm getting one too probably before the end of the year. I'm still enjoying my G35, running strong for 6 years now with no reliability issues. I just heard today that Infiniti is releasing 2 new engines this year. A 2.0t and a 3.0t producing 400hp. I might hold out and see what the 3.0t has to offer. But from what I've read, the hybrid/3.5l will still have more torque than their 400hp variant which shocks me. So I'll probably lean more to the old hybrid because torque is more important to me than horsepower in real world terms
Are there any known issues with the 2014 models?

I hate the way Acura, Cadillac and Infiniti do their centre consoles. It doesnt look like luxury with all the screens, and touch buttons. BMW, Audi, and Mercedes Benz (just to name a few) nail it hands down. Hyundai is following along and their interior looks better each year.

I partially agree with you. It doesn't shout "pure luxury" but I love the modern look of the two screens stacked one on top of another in this car. I'm not much of a fan of the way some Mercedes and BMW models have theirs. They're like mini iPads just floating there. Don't really like how the plastic back part of it shows either. I've had some of that wear off in my previous cars.

Infiniti has implemented a new nomenclature whereby all vehicles have either a Q or QX (for SUVs) designation followed by a number which indicates the model. All the other letters like G, I, J, and M are now gone.

Wrong. Your Q50's low end torque doesn't come close to the hybrid Q50's torque (over 400lb-ft) I own it and have destroyed a lot of 335s off the line.

This is a stupid comparison. The 335i isnt a hybrid, why even try to compare? When BMW produces the Active 3 hybrid F30 LCI, it will smoke this in every aspect.

Jonathan Morton Doesn't matter anymore. Infiniti has a Q50 twin turbo making 400 HP coming this summer. Costs less than 340i by quite a margin too.

That's just suspension and brakes like with the m235.
This car has more power, better styling, superior technology, and more efficient gas mileage than the 335i, so the the killing has been accomplished, whether you realize it or not.
But a similarly equipped bmw 335i is about $12,000 more, and this car is still faster with higher hp, and leaves out some of the extra tech that you get with the q50.
Not to mention the 335i eats it's turbos at 70k miles
This car is garbage. The remote control steering is CRAP. I'm surprise the steering wheels didn't lock up. (there was a recall for this). Where the steering wheel froze due to cold weather.
Bottom line is, car is is a generic bland sedan with zero personality. It's an overpriced Mazda. (Mazda 6 sells the same car for cheaper). The 2 car look like twins. Mazda doesn't have the remote control steering though. Which is a plus.
Can't wait till me lease is up so I can dump this pos car.
I own the Q50 hybrid, and I doubt that you do, so stop being a fraud. It's called steer-by-wire, not "remote control". I doubt you can afford the Mazda (which is not the same car), so don't even talk about Infiniti.

I also get horrible mpg on this car. Barely 15mpg.
I also hate the bluetooth stereo. Pandora connects like 40% of the time. Heck, the stupid Pandora app for the car isn't even available yet. It's like 2 years late.

You don't know what you're talking about. First, Infiniti is made by Nissan, not Toyota. Second, you can't compare it to cars that cost way more. By the way, a souped up version of the Q50 with the GT-R engine is coming and it will destroy the M and AMG.
