There can only be one true heir to the throne of Rome!
And don't forget the algorithm demands sacrifices if you're enjoying the campaign!

Nice episode! I'll let myself to remind, that in Attila it's important to keep your food balance positive not just for the whole faction, but also for every single province! Otherwise negative food balance in province will reduce public order in it even if your common food balance is positive (in contrast to Rome 2, where food balance in every single province just doesn't matter)

Oh I didn't know Attila had to balance it per region! That is definitely something important to know.

      @@Rampaned it works this way:
If you have negative food balance per faction - your troops die
If you have positive balance per faction, but negative per particular region - public order in this region reduces. The more lack of food the more p o penalty. For example, for -5 food cause -1 to public order (if I remember correctly), but if you have -100 - the penalty is huge

Loving this campaign so far! I did have a few suggestions that you may have already taken into account, but maybe it'll be of some use to you.
    1) Your main line should be a mix of the Pikes, Skoutatoi Spears, and Skoutatoi Swords, with the pikes being the main line as they can can anchor the enemy down giving your other units more room to maneuver and allow you to choose your engagements more freely. The spears should be used to either screen the pikes from missiles, plug gaps as they arise, or protect your skirmishers in the rear. Swords are for when you need infantry killing power either in the main line or for flanking the blobs of infantry that happen when the enemy engages your pikes. IMPORTANT NOTE: Put your swords in a shield wall and advance them into the line with the arrow keys when filling in the main line. Shield Wall gives them a bonus against infantry, but they drop the formation the moment you give an attack order.
    2) Archers. For your archers, the reason you aren't seeing the damage you want for your archers is for three reasons: they need to be more concentrated, they need to target enemies that are not in contact with your battle line, and you need to use the proper ammunition type for whatever you are targeting. For infantry, Heavy Shot is the go-to option as it has a bonus to infantry and armor penetration. This is important because Attila uses the HP system like Total War Warhammer and stuff like that. Heavy Shot guarantees more of your damage transfers to the health of the enemy rather than being absorbed by armor. Flaming shot is best reserved for cavalry and elephants as it gets a bonus against them and can cause elephants to run amok. Concentration of fire is the key in Attila, so having your archers off fire at will, and all of them firing at the same target is the best way to go. Best practice for archers is to scan the enemy battle line, determine any threats to your infantry line, and eliminate that threat with a massed volley before the lines ever meet.
    3) All together, you're doing well! I just think a slight change of army composition and refinement of tactics will help you more in the campaign. Here's my personal recommendation for the early game for a solid all-round force: 1 General, 5 Pikes, 3 Spears, 2 Swords, 5 Archers, and 4 Cavalry (2 light and 2 heavy). This will be a good field army that allows you to fix the enemy in place, choose the point of engagement, and maintain maneuverability on both the battlefield and campaign map. For siege battles, I would recommend swapping out the cavalry for artillery and more swords, and possibly changing some the pikes out for more swords as well. Of course this is just the basics, so by all means feel free to spice it up with some variety!
I hope all this helps! Keep up the good work, and I look forward to continuing to watch this series!

This is definitely a more passive campaign when compared to my Nicean campaign. Not a bad thing but I usually try to break into Macedonia and so on early on at first. Then again, I didn't have Georgia so Gung ho to antagonize me

Hello friend. good game, and good battles too. just a suggestion or two if I may: I think the best investment in this campaign is on education: meaning try to build and upgrade a school in every city when you can, because schools gives you a decent amount of money from culture and accelerates the research rate in the technology tree, so after the food and the sanitaion buildings: schools should be your first priority, and don't worry about the public order: the sanitation building will give you public order and growth: so the firs tbuilding to build in every city is the sanitation building. second: in the last city that you captured: you have a shipyard and a blacksmith: better dismantle those two buildings and replace them with something else, because there are no naval units in this 1212 AD mod yet, so it's useless to have a shipyard, and you already upgraded all the units in your army, and probably you won't send any of your other armies that far to the north to upgrade them, so better dismantle the blacksmith and replace it with another building like the sanitation building or the additional garrison building so you can have additional garrison in the city when you will move your army south away from it. third: if I am not mistaken: I believe that when I did put my comment on your previous episode of this campaign: that happened after you already recorded this second episode, so that comment was not very much helpful to you, so allow me to repeat the important hints and tips and suggestions from the last comment so it may be of a little help to you: this comment will be a little bit long, but a little bit of reading never hurt anyone (I think): here is a small part of the last comment:
first: this is a bit too late, but you could've capture the city of Constantinople in the first turn: all you had to do is to assemble your two armies and attack Constantinople from the sea: and there you go: you've captured Constantinople in the first turn. second: you won't be rebuilding the Roman empire: after capturing Constantinople and forming the Byzantine empire: you'll be asked to reform the Roman empire which will be in fact the eastern Roman empire. third: try to get the royal family members married: you will need a strong bloodline to rule the empire, also try to put the royal family members as govrnors and generals so you can keep the balance pf power in the royal court to your favour and avoid loyalty problems from the nobles from outside the royal family. fourth: in the research tree: I suggest that you unlock next the technology that allows you to get the level 3 castle: that will give you access to some very good unique elite units. fifth: if you capture a new city and you leave it without a garrison: the enemy could just walk in and take the city without a fight with just a one unit army: if you have to move your army from a newly captured city city and leave it without a garrison: just put a governor in the city or raise a one unit army in the city: that will hold off the enemy attack on the city at least for one turn until you will rescue the city: if you have reached the maximum of governors: just remove a governor from anothr city and assign a new one to the city without a garrison, and you can always remove a governor or a one unit army general from a besieged city if you don't want him to die. sixth: in one of the coming events: the AI will ask you to pay for the maintenance of the Greek fire: whenever the game asks you to do that: just accept and py the money even if you don't have money: that will still work, because there will be a nice Greek fire thrower unit available for recruitment if you acquire the greek fire. and finally; good luck.

Nice campaign! Enjoying it a lot! As a recommendation from someone that played attila A LOT try not to use protective stance in the auto resolves. For my experience is always the worst option. Balanced seems to be the best, and sometimes aggressive!

Burn caffa to the ground if you can. Its too far from your core. Build up one region as recruit center. Get more agents, not only spies.
Dont focus so hard at nice charges! Screen your archers! Do not shoot into combat you will kill yourself!
Also i don't know if this mods chage how dominion work but if you put goverments in positions only on merit base you will quickly dig your own grave. Nepotism is good in this game.

Also don't spam silver everywhere. You do not sell all that you produce. Focus on food, order, and money in that order

Hello friend. looks like you don't know a lot about this 1212 AD mod: about dominion: you need to keep the power in the court balanced: meaning you have to assign governors and generals from the royal family as much as you assign from the outside nobles: if your family is too strong or too weak: the nobles from outside the royal family will become disloyal: you need to keep the power balanced as much as you can: just read the bar of the balance of power and you will know the bonuses and the debufs of every level of power. also about the resources: in this 1212 AD mod: you can produce as much as you want: you can sell them all as long as you have trade partners: meaning fctions that you have trade agreement with. and good luck. ou@@MYHAU91

@@theblackwolf8798 thx. About politics is maxing dominion and thrashing control to balance power not valid in this mod?

    • @theblackwolf8798
      @theblackwolf8798 11 місяців тому +1

in this 1212 AD mod: the dominion (or the power of the royal family) depends on two factors: influence and control: royal family members and outside nobles gain influence when they are assigned as governors and generals by winning battles or just with time by governing cities, and control can be gain or lost via political actions of the royal family: you want the royal family to become stronger: assign more and more of them as governors and generals, but there will be serious debufs of public order and loyalty, you want the royal family to become weak: just ignore them and assign governors and generals only from outside nobles, but there will be serious debufs of growth and taxes and loyalty, and your king will be weak and won't be able to control the outside nobles by himself: better keep things balanced by keeping the assignement of generals and governors equal between the royal family members and the outside nobles.
what you said about:''maxing dominion and thrashing control to balance power'': does not work in this 1212 AD mod, because just like I mentioned: in this 1212 AD md: dominion depends on influence and control: so you need to work on influence and control to balance dominion, because dominion is not a factor on itself, but it rather depends on other factors: just read the informations above the royal family tree: you will find there an explanation of influence and control and of the levels of the bar of dominion. and good luck. @@MYHAU91

Make as more trade agreements as possible that will increase your income greatly. Even pay money for it believe me that will bring you a huge income. Send one spy to open all countries in sea coast and deal trade agreements with all countries he will explore in his way.
