They all had different routes and were very in depth but for Kanon they decided ayu was the main route, clannad they decided nagisa, and little busters they decided rin, it really comes down to funding and an animation studio. The president of key tweeted a while ago "if there is anyone willing to animate rewrite I will be happy to negotiate." and on which route is the main... Probably Terra because even though each route is based on a certain person it always revolves around the "key" or kagari, for those who have played the moon route they know what I mean.
It looks to me that Key is actually capable of making animes aswell with great animations, I don't know how much time they spent on this opening, but it is certaintly possible
I'm half way through Rewrite now. I just beat Lucia's route. I'd wager that this might be the best Key VN ever. The heroine routes have been all great and if Terra is even better like I am hearing, then yes, this will be the best Key VN ever.
It would be great if this got an anime adaption. It would let people who can't play the novel for one reason or another experience the amazing and heartfelt story. But at the same time, I can't help but think that if they did adapt it, the anime just wouldn't do the novel justice. Either way, no one in the industry has really shown any interest in adapting it. It's a shame because the fact that it's Key alone would make people watch it. The animation in this video is gorgeous too. Wow.
Ok, I haven't played the visual novel or anything, i really want to, cause this looks awesome. I've started to read the manga adaption of this, and i love it. X3 But i can say this, even after only reading the first 5 chapters of a uncompleted manga, and watching other people play the visual novel, THIS NEEDS TO BECOME AN ACTUAL ANIME. I'm in love with this opening, and Rewrite in general. X3
+Marcop TSF Akane's route is the best route and easily the best ending. Lucia's is 2nd or at least 3rd due the mystery/thriller part of it, even though it REALLY felt out of place compare to everything else in the VN, its what Ryukishi07 does best. My biggest complains were 1) how annoying Lucia is and 2) the ending was just downhill.
I wish Rewrite will have this kind of animation, because it's purely wonderful seeing this amazing work. Since Rewrite does have action events while still keeping the lovable Key drama from the VN, it would be fitting for this style of animation into a Rewrite anime. However as mentioned by some, it would be difficult to adapt Rewrite into anime especially with all the heroines arcs, mixing the stories together, and make sense into the story as a whole. I'm sure they'll figure out a way somehow.
White Fox did an awesome job on the animation. For all those wondering, this is the second opening for the visual Novel Rewrite by Key. Fun fact: 80% of this visual novel was written by outsiders, and not by key-staff. It is however their best visual novel till now. The anime won't come in that soon, give it a few years. Though it would be really hard to get this into an anime because of the complexity of the story. And in almost every case Visual novel > anime.

I'm guessing at this point, if Key did an anime for Rewrite, they'd have to do something like what Ryukishi07 did for Higurashi. One Arc per route (24/26 ep season) and bring it all together for the final two (probably 12/13 ep?). It's the only way I can see it working unless they do a major rewrite of the story.
Hehe, Rewrite of Rewrite. But seriously just use bits of moon to link the routes together. You'll need at least 3-4 seasons to adapt it all without having to cut stuff.
First, I'd be fine if they didn't cut anything but, Moon IS where things link up. Because of the way the routes go (how different they are from each other), I can't see any other way they'd adapt it into an anime without doing individual arcs. (or a Rewrite of Rewrite, I like that sound haha)

themadmoose245 White Fox or KyoAni are the only ones I trust with VisualNovel anime any more. I pray someone does Rewrite justice. I thought LBs was gonna be hard to do. I'll admit S1 was pretty meh. They chose a lot of the bad jokes, rushed too much on certain things ,ect ect..but JC did excellent with Refrain. I think Rewrite would be much harder to do. For that reason I dont think anyone but KyoAni or White Fox's Steins;Gate team could do it. I dont want it getting ruined at all. I love every character in Rewrite so much and the story even more. I'm 100% sure it will be animated sometime soon. All of the popular Key vn's got animated e.g. Clannad, Little Busters, Air, Kanon. It's only a matter of time before Rewrite get's animated too.

But I doubt they'll even pay that much attention to this, even though it deserves it.
You're asking for something absurd. If a studio can simply just make a 24 episode for a single route, you'll see a lot more studios doing that. Shaft was only able to do such things cause they're rolling in dough. The longest series Key have had animated so far is still Clannad and that was a long time ago. Their new series Charlotte might be a 12 ep series.
ebllient I know it's far-fetched, but that's the only way I see it happening without it being butchered, to an extent at least. Making one season based on all the routes will just confuse everyone, even the writers, and a movie wouldn't even come into consideration, let alone a movie series. Throughout other Key anime series, it was quite simple to do them when you think about it, because all they really had to do was take out or limit the romance within the routes, and/or focus on the main girl/route of the story. They can't do that with Rewrite, because if I'm correct, in different routes, Kotarou either joins Gaia or Guardian. And it will be conflicting unless they pull off an anime original solution that can stick with the overall plot.
dassii10 The problem with that is it doesn't deserve a shitty adaptation. They can do it, but the fans who tend to be very critical won't buy anything regarding it because the anime is shit, even if the VN fans say that the VN is better, the anime, which would be more known is shit. The way I see adapting anime is either do it right, or don't do it at all, because half-assing the project would be throwing pure money down the drain. Obviously there are plenty of anime originals that deserve the credit, but most of the time, an anime original usually leads to hurt, angry fans of the original content.
EPIC! the song is so good! (too bad it seems the audio quality is a bit bad in this? just slight distortion) Ahh this video is so cool. The song is epic, the animation is epic. Can't wait for this become an anime. Key anime (especially with the latest, Clannad) are SO good. But with this, it will not only have the romance stuff we like from Key but it will also have fantasy/action and stuff that will draw a larger audience than previous titles!

The english patch is being translated by Amaterasu. At this time, they have finished translating Common Route and working on Kotori's route, but they already released partial patch for common route. Just be patient.
KeimaxGamer SPOILERS: It seems like you missed the whole point of Terra route lol. I mean, they found just a >possibility< for the life on earth to continue. This possibility was Kotarou not dying when he meets Kagari under that tree for the first time. In all other timelines, he dies there which results in his coma for several years (hence why he's the same age as heroines) Its possible that he just died there and was turned into familiar. I dont think it was specified in details. In terra route he's not falling into coma and all his actions (meeting Kagari, helping her out etc) lead to giving the world this possibility, which was that plan of his to giving out the info on familiars to the world (I think it was the thing he wanted to show Kagari). I think thats how they stop to waste resources. Everyone makes familiars, and they do the work. Making them is not really wasting resources, just recycling them. Remember that memorial of his friends telling the world to remember the nameless fallen soldier? It was related to that Also, heroines are not recognizing him because most of them just never met him. Only Akane and Kotori, and both were very young back then. Lucia Shizuru and Chihaya just never met him. I know its kind of late but i just wanted to clear things up

In Terra, after the Moon route everything is reseted (their memories about previous worlds, about what happened on the moon etc because its entirely new world, created by Kagari) Also, in Terra that thing under the tree never happened. In Kotori route she said she cant go out with him because he died there and was turned into a familiar thanks to Kagari and Kotori powers (notice how Kotarou doesnt have his aurora in Terra, he can just manipulate blood) Thats why she felt guilty and told him she cannot go out with him. In Terra, they met only when she was child (and i think Kotarou is actually like 10 years older than the heroines) Sorry for misunderstanding you though.
I loved every route but my favorite one was Chihaya by a miles. Terra was especially good but really hard to understand what happens at times if you didnt pay much attention to all previous routes lol

i'm actually amazed how many English speaking people are a fan of these works and visual arts, i'm also disappointed that this seams to be a 'cool' visual novel rather then a pretty love and romance based one..oh well, it's key I have a new genre I suddenly like. Best Key VN so far. In all the others, there was always one heroine who pissed me off. The six girls here are perfect for the MC. They interact so well with him that I can genuinely believe he fell in love with them in their routes. Also Koutarou is best Key MC.
You can clearly see Ryukishi07's work here if you compare it to Higurashi. The concept of alternate universes which get destroyed no matter what the protagonist does, the main heroine tries her best to look for a solution to make sure everyone survives and the protagonist is key to finding that solution
Rewrite is not made by Maeda Jun, who made most of Key's popular works like Clannad, Angel Beats, or Little Busters. That's kinda why it seems way different or off. This video is capturing the essence of the Moon and heroine routes, which is deep into the game, so upon first watch it's really hard to understand what's going on with all the dinosaurs and dragons. The whole story is really really occult based so it's much different than what you'd expect from Key.
We've certainly went forward from the Clannad style opening, still pictures. I guess that this will have to make do until Key decide to announce ( I know they will ) the Angel Beats! Anime, theres simply no way they'd let go of such a juicy story, and I think that the anime is just a prequel OR kanade's route only. Niker PS: I'll keep tabs on this
the only one Meade Jun have made of those you mentioned is Angel Beats, he only contributed with music and script on the others, for example Little Busters, he only wrote some of the heroines routes and others wrote rest of them. (I think he wrote 2-3 of the heroine routes, correct me of i'm wrong). Thus you can't really say he mad LB and also Clannad as it was a team work from Key's staff. People like Na-Ga and Itaru Hinoue are also prominent people in Key, don't forget them :)
To do Rewrite properly, you'd need several things. First is to take advantage of all the paths left to you by the moon route. Start with Kotarou waking in the dream, and seeing Kagari on the hill, reflect the common route, Then we he comes to talk to her, and dies the first time, Kotori's Route, the second time, Shizuru's Route, Third when he gets burned, Chihaya's Route, Fourth Lucia's Route, Leave Akane's route for last as it explains the villain of the moon route. Finish the moon route, Then do the Terra Route to the finish. The last thing you want to see in the Rw anime, is the smile of the Key girl, Kagari.
See this is the only real way I could see it working as well, but it's not just the storyline that's the problem, It's the length of the show... It's longer then Little Busters and Clannad, And Little busters has 26 episode spread over 2 seasons which is fairly close to ideal but even it's being rushed... so you have to wonder whether they'll do a third season or not, and if not how would they sort out the arcs to which seasons, and how well would they handle the pacing... And if it does do 3 seasons, that's going to narrow the list of people willing to buy into it even further, because alot of shows that need a third season don't usually get renewed for a third season by the television companies brodcasting the shows due to either lack of popularity, or just not quite meeting other shows standards... basically a show getting renewed for a second season will easily get it, BUT it's much harder for a show to get a 3rd season from the broadcasting company so.... THEIRS SO MUCH THAT COULD GO WRONG. BUT I WANT AN ADAPTION. BUT I DONT WANT THE STORY RUINED BY A BAD ANIME. BUT IT"S TOO AMAZING TO NOT BE DONE... Yeah that's pretty much the dilemma... hahaha
Maaaan. I was a bit disappointed when I played the game and found out that this wasn't an anime opening D: I hope they make it into an anime sooner or later that takes advantage of the heroine routes and then the moon and terra routes ^.^
to cut most of Tomoyo's arc and Kanon cut alot out of Naiyuki's arc and Air, well there weren't enough episodes, so I don't have the problem about that. But Kyoani aren't gods. Also the "there not doing the loop" holds no water. If you have been watching closely, whenever a heroine's arc is over, the next episode has Riki waking up suddenly and there have been several instances where the dates have been blocked out plus there was Mio's disappearence in the latest episode.

dassii10 The problem with that is it doesn't deserve a shitty adaptation. They can do it, but the fans who tend to be very critical won't buy anything regarding it because the anime is shit, even if the VN fans say that the VN is better, the anime, which would be more known is shit.
The way I see adapting anime is either do it right, or don't do it at all, because half-assing the project would be throwing pure money down the drain.
Obviously there are plenty of anime originals that deserve the credit, but most of the time, an anime original usually leads to hurt, angry fans of the original content.
This is the opening for the moon route. You have to complete the character routes first to unlock it.

Ahh this video is so cool. The song is epic, the animation is epic. Can't wait for this become an anime. Key anime (especially with the latest, Clannad) are SO good. But with this, it will not only have the romance stuff we like from Key but it will also have fantasy/action and stuff that will draw a larger audience than previous titles!

The english patch is being translated by Amaterasu. At this time, they have finished translating Common Route and working on Kotori's route, but they already released partial patch for common route. Just be patient.

It seems like you missed the whole point of Terra route lol. I mean, they found just a >possibility< for the life on earth to continue. This possibility was Kotarou not dying when he meets Kagari under that tree for the first time. In all other timelines, he dies there which results in his coma for several years (hence why he's the same age as heroines) Its possible that he just died there and was turned into familiar. I dont think it was specified in details. In terra route he's not falling into coma and all his actions (meeting Kagari, helping her out etc) lead to giving the world this possibility, which was that plan of his to giving out the info on familiars to the world (I think it was the thing he wanted to show Kagari). I think thats how they stop to waste resources. Everyone makes familiars, and they do the work. Making them is not really wasting resources, just recycling them. Remember that memorial of his friends telling the world to remember the nameless fallen soldier? It was related to that
Also, heroines are not recognizing him because most of them just never met him. Only Akane and Kotori, and both were very young back then. Lucia Shizuru and Chihaya just never met him.

She said it in her route right? It as entirely different world. In Terra, after the Moon route everything is reseted (their memories about previous worlds, about what happened on the moon etc because its entirely new world, created by Kagari) Also, in Terra that thing under the tree never happened. In Kotori route she said she cant go out with him because he died there and was turned into a familiar thanks to Kagari and Kotori powers (notice how Kotarou doesnt have his aurora in Terra, he can just manipulate blood) Thats why she felt guilty and told him she cannot go out with him. In Terra, they met only when she was child (and i think Kotarou is actually like 10 years older than the heroines)

yeah it's fine, and I loved the moon route, well apart from the ending (best route is shizuru's IMO)
I loved every route but my favorite one was Chihaya by a miles. Terra was especially good but really hard to understand what happens at times if you didnt pay much attention to all previous routes lol
Hellan00b thks for the explain,i had complete the last route so far but the moon route i have no idea what's going on until i came here.but there still something bugging me:in the Kotori route,she said that kotarou power come from the key and when someone destroy it,kotarou lost all the power and almost die.but in the other route Key is gone but he just seems fine

i'm actually amazed how many English speaking people are a fan of these works and visual arts, i'm also disappointed that this seams to be a 'cool' visual novel rather then a pretty love and romance based one..oh well, it's key I have a new genre I suddenly like.

Best Key VN so far. In all the others, there was always one heroine who pissed me off. The six girls here are perfect for the MC. They interact so well with him that I can genuinely believe he fell in love with them in their routes. Also Koutarou is best Key MC.

You can clearly see Ryukishi07's work here if you compare it to Higurashi. The concept of alternate universes which get destroyed no matter what the protagonist does, the main heroine tries her best to look for a solution to make sure everyone survives and the protagonist is key to finding that solution

Rewrite is not made by Maeda Jun, who made most of Key's popular works like Clannad, Angel Beats, or Little Busters. That's kinda why it seems way different or off. This video is capturing the essence of the Moon and heroine routes, which is deep into the game, so upon first watch it's really hard to understand what's going on with all the dinosaurs and dragons. The whole story is really really occult based so it's much different than what you'd expect from Key.

We've certainly went forward from the Clannad style opening, still pictures. I guess that this will have to make do until Key decide to announce ( I know they will ) the Angel Beats! Anime, theres simply no way they'd let go of such a juicy story, and I think that the anime is just a prequel OR kanade's route only.

the only one Meade Jun have made of those you mentioned is Angel Beats, he only contributed with music and script on the others, for example Little Busters, he only wrote some of the heroines routes and others wrote rest of them. (I think he wrote 2-3 of the heroine routes, correct me of i'm wrong). Thus you can't really say he mad LB and also Clannad as it was a team work from Key's staff. People like Na-Ga and Itaru Hinoue are also prominent people in Key, don't forget them :)

Can't believe this is from a Key game.
To do Rewrite properly, you'd need several things. First is to take advantage of all the paths left to you by the moon route. Start with Kotarou waking in the dream, and seeing Kagari on the hill, reflect the common route, Then we he comes to talk to her, and dies the first time, Kotori's Route, the second time, Shizuru's Route, Third when he gets burned, Chihaya's Route, Fourth Lucia's Route, Leave Akane's route for last as it explains the villain of the moon route. Finish the moon route, Then do the Terra Route to the finish. The last thing you want to see in the Rw anime, is the smile of the Key girl, Kagari.
See this is the only real way I could see it working as well, but it's not just the storyline that's the problem, It's the length of the show... It's longer then Little Busters and Clannad, And Little busters has 26 episode spread over 2 seasons which is fairly close to ideal but even it's being rushed... so you have to wonder whether they'll do a third season or not, and if not how would they sort out the arcs to which seasons, and how well would they handle the pacing... And if it does do 3 seasons, that's going to narrow the list of people willing to buy into it even further, because alot of shows that need a third season don't usually get renewed for a third season by the television companies brodcasting the shows due to either lack of popularity, or just not quite meeting other shows standards... basically a show getting renewed for a second season will easily get it, BUT it's much harder for a show to get a 3rd season from the broadcasting company so.... THEIRS SO MUCH THAT COULD GO WRONG. BUT I WANT AN ADAPTION. BUT I DONT WANT THE STORY RUINED BY A BAD ANIME. BUT IT"S TOO AMAZING TO NOT BE DONE...

Maaaan. I was a bit disappointed when I played the game and found out that this wasn't an anime opening D: I hope they make it into an anime sooner or later that takes advantage of the heroine routes and then the moon and terra routes ^.^
to cut most of Tomoyo's arc and Kanon cut alot out of Naiyuki's arc and Air, well there weren't enough episodes, so I don't have the problem about that. But Kyoani aren't gods. Also the "there not doing the loop" holds no water. If you have been watching closely, whenever a heroine's arc is over, the next episode has Riki waking up suddenly and there have been several instances where the dates have been blocked out plus there was Mio's disappearence in the latest episode.
