Just started playing the visual novel, and Key did a good job on all parts. The story, characters, action, mystery, its all there and done well. I really hope they do decide to make a rewrite anime, because if some scenes are exciting in this VN i cant wait to see it animated! :)
@@Night_Botto forcing 20 hours of story into 12/13 episodes was a bad idea especially if they were trying to go for an original kagari story mixed with sneak peaks at all 5 branches. If they got more episodes maybe it would reach a similar level to litobus. My expectations for the summer pockets anime will be tempered this time whenever that comes out.
I remember when I originally found a AMV of Rewrite, back long before the English translation came out. I remember thinking how epic it looked. Years later, I accidentally stumbled upon the English translation. Still one of the best games I have ever played. The balance between comedy, action, and drama was well done. Plus the interesting gameplay aspects with Mappie made the game more enjoyable. -Shizuru best girl, needs a better route.-

I don't get why some people are calling the anime adaptation "awful". The Visual Novel was too big to even fit a 12-13 episode anime so they had to introduce "all" the characters and their background story which were present in 5 different routes for those who never played the game. and I think they did a pretty decent job out of it. For me, Season one was meant to be viewed as an alternate reality where kotarou died and turned into a goddamn tree. Simply put, season one is just a simple set up for season 2, Moon/ Terra for anime viewers to understand the anime clearly.
It may be but as a solo thing it probably fails. What I say is, if they goal was condensing a huge source material in 12/13 anime episodes, they may have done it well but, at the cost of sacrificing something obviously and that is, to make an stand alone thing. You can't have your cake and eat it too. You either focus on making it a good proper anime that lasts 12 episodes or a good adaptation that packs almost everything in 12 episodes, not both because a proper anime can't be a jam in everything of a huge source material, it's as simple as that.

Rewrite is easily my favorite VN. Also even though I love Air,Kanon,Little Busters!,and Clannad VNs I personally can't consider any of them on the same level as Rewrite.
Guy Cecil I gave up little buster because the voicing was so weird, and the music being put out of place made it even weirder, I’m not sure if I can watch it again

So I played through Little Busters within a week, watch all of Clannad + After Story in 2 sittings, watched Kanon in 1 sitting, and was hooked on Angel Beats from the day it aired until the last episode came out and I loved every single one them exponentially. I'm not sure why but I get the feeling I will love this game.
Interesting. For a KEY work, this looks awesome and a decent change of pace from their more famous school based titles like Clannad, Angel Beats, and Little Busters. Nice to see they also include the fantasy genre into their works.
Personally don't think an anime adaptation of this VN would be very good given its length unless it went beyond 24 episodes (and that's not very likely). Most VN anime adaptations tend to be rather poorly done for the same reason - too much content, not enough budget/air time. Put simply: can you imagine any of these routes being done WELL in 4 or fewer episodes? Consider that the outcomes of each route are wholly incompatible with each other. No, if they ever make anime out of a VN, they would have to give each route 10-12 episodes of their own. And given the production habits of Japanese animation studios that's never going to happen unless a lot of money moves hands. I'd settle for a patch/enhanced edition that added in cutscenes to the VN at the cool battle scenes/emotional parts like we see above.

Rance Rewrite is one of my all time favorites too along with fate/stay night. Both Key and Type Moon are VN gods.
As much as a love Type Moon story wise they haven't made anything really amazing recently.
