- After 150 years we’ve returned the endangered large blue butterfly back to Stroud in Gloucestershire. The National Trust teamed up with partners for the biggest reintroduction project of its kind in the UK. Now the grassy slopes of Rodborough Common are full of hundreds of butterflies. Watch this video to find out how we did it with a little help from some caring ants.
We protect and care for places so people and nature can thrive. Everyone can get involved, everyone can make a difference. Nature, beauty, history. For everyone, for ever.

I had one of these fluttering on my begonias so I threw a brick at it and stamped on it, didn’t realise it was indeed rare
