Rishvanth consistently hits for the deep corners. He spots the ball very well, and hits where you are NOT standing. The kid is good! Fun match to watch!
Very big of you to put this up. Young Rish is a very solid player indeed. I have a well ranked 12yo son, who at 34kg is able to beat me with his incredible placement, power well beyond his size, blistering speed around the court and a very strategic mind (and super competitiveness). I've played A grade comp for 30 years now so losing to a whipper snapper takes some getting used to! Cheers and thanks from Sydney - Dave
Man, this was the BEST, the FUNNEST video yet! I loved seeing Rishvanth hitting good balls and Winston struggling to keep up - hilarious! The coaching was so funny - Rithvik tells it as it is. I wish these brothers had a tennis channel.
Can't believe he is 13.... would wipe the floor with me. Winston on your return of serve make sure you are coming forward, a lot of returns were short because you were backing up. That kid is an absolute baller though! Great video.
I was looking to get into tennis more rec like this. Can anyone help me with how exactly do I find like tennis league or clubs near LA? I don’t know many people personally who play tennis.
I actually played Rishvanth last year when he was like a 9.2 lost 7-6, 6-2 but it was a rly good match. He's really good at moving the ball around and I really had to hit with a lot of power to win points.
This is hilarious. The older brother started coaching you and rooting for you cause his little bro was killing it. Props for taking the challenge and trying to compete.
@@WinstonDu haha okay I didn’t watch the entire intro. I just skipped to some points and saw him coaching and rooting for you. Risvanth is definitely amazing especially for his age and I feel 9.4 Utr is maybe a little low for him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he quickly improves that rating to 10 plus. As for you, I think you gave up a bit from the start because you concluded he was way better than you after the first couple points. I think you could have definitely made it much closer if you played with more aggression and tried to strike first. Also, on the points where he was attacking you, you didn’t really make him work to win the point. He definitely hit good offensive shots to to open the court up, but I felt that you should have done more to keep the ball in play and make him work to finish you off. Many times you just missed the shot after his first or second offensive shot. If you tried to grind some points out when you are on the defensive, I’m sure you could have started to frustrate him and draw out more stupid mistakes. Young short kids probably don’t like hitting multiple kill shots to finish the point and good lobs are likely irritating for them to deal with. In any case, keep playing with young talented juniors, think about what you can do to improve, and you will elevate your game for sure.
Two aspects I’ve noticed that’s holding you back big time: 1. You’re moving back on return of serves, when your momentum should always be shifting forward. 2. Split step is not performed on preparation, meaning it should be done in the split second prior to when the opponent hits (you can see the other kid executing this flawlessly throughout the match, allowing him to react with no time wasted). Not to say you don’t do it at all but it feels like after the first hit or two it just becomes completely abandoned.
@@ctbsancho2516 So weird how you feel the need to defend him from actual constructive criticism. The kid he played today is good for sure, but the dude did NOT look like a 4.5 at all. @@WinstonDu Ya I've watched some more of your matches and you definitely are capable of 4.5 play, you obviously had an off day here and think you could have made it closer on a different day. But the kid was good, no doubt.
The only advice I need to give to Risvanth is that when he goes through his service motion, near the very end of the motion, his right foot slightly twitches towards the beginning of the exploding phase, I would suggest the service pose, to Risvanth, to lean more slightly into the court, as it will prevent future injuries to his right ankle, but also promote and create a stronger foundation into his load and explode execution.
Rishwanth is amazing!, I His composer, court intelligence, and great technique are mind blowing. He’s very solid and fluid. His games reminds me so much of a male version of Martina Hingis . I’ll definitely have to follow their channel. 👏🏽👏🏽
Blue chips, of any age, are a totally different level. They were born with a racket, so it's very hard to shake them up or put them in uncomfortable situations. Good Match!
The little Rishvanth is amazing. Very humble guys! Big bro is probably an incredible player. Winston, 20k will be super simple. I'd shoot for 30k right about now! 🙂 Amazing content. Keep it up! MM
What an amazing matchup! Winston, you have a big heart posting this 😅 What Rish lacks in muscle, he makes up in gray-matter. Superb movement, technique and tennis iq
Kid will be a menace when he grows and has more shoulder strength for his serve. I'm guessing he'll want to move on to a pinpoint stance at some point, but it's working for now! Great content. 8:30 what a nasty stroke
Winston your shots have so much spin on them they land in front of the service line to often. You swing full power but cause of your grip and the spin it still lands short.
Winston, just found your channel and checked out a couple of videos and had to subscribe. Great content showcasing the depth of talent out there but also showing us that tennis is supposed to be a FUN challenge for the recreational player. You can still try your best and have fun. Be the best you can be, tip your hat when someone is just better than you, then keep trying! Good stuff, my man.
Wow! He is an impressive player! He definitely doesn't play like a 13 year old! Hit hard at him and he'll hit it back with MORE pace and place the ball, too! He hit a few awesome volleys, as well. Also, great returning on second serves. About the only thing he did wrong was hit a couple of overheads from the baseline into the net. I think Winston was beginning to make inroads when he started trying to outmuscle him, but just didn't have enough consistency doing that to challenge the kid...
Just wondering... Winston u r taller why didn't u come in on shorter balls to volley or half volley a bit more. U really let opponent dictate. U aren't using your strengths. Yes u r hitting into his strike zone.
@@jamesscholtz9525 He has really good control and likes targets I dont think coming to the net against a player with great control and speed gonna work. And Winston is better at the baseline than net.
The kid has much better judgement on the flying path of the ball, so that he can get behind the ball much quicker. Plus his hitting form is more solid and stable so his ball speed and direction control is better. This video just reminds me no matter how good an amateur player, they cannot beat someone training day in and day out.
Good on you guys. As a former tennis player, I have to say Junior controlled the ball in this match the whole time. Placement, control, technique and even a little bit of mental game too. Junior had a plan. Tell him to keep going and work on his control, placement and speed. Power and all that cool macho stuff come later. Also, if he wants to take it seriously, he must start slowly practising his mental side of tennis. Very very important. Anyway, gentlemen, good luck and practice hard.
Think this is one of your best videos showing how to change mentality and tennis patterns. Some times it works, some time you may get outplayed. Best regards from Mexico.
It is always a humbling experience getting dominated by a 13 year old (I say that from being in Winston’s shoes several times). The funny thing is that Winston, you played pretty well. The only other thing I would have tried is drop shot and lob/pass, but he didn’t give you a chance to get into any rallies. Great match you all.
Winston seemed nervous for the whole first set. He could have tried harder after winning a game in the second set. But unexpectedly entertaining to watch.
Been follow ur videos! Love the plays. Like the brother said keep moving your feet. I want to add that most of your shorts and returns Are very short. They need to be deeper. You can see how the kid hits balls deep no matter if he is on defense or offense. Good job still.
One way to counter this is having bigger FH, your returning ball back to his strike zone with pace he can easily control. I do this all the time with my friend. Making him slice short and making an easy winner
Wow... this kid! There are kids under 14 that win matches by never missing and there are kids like this that somehow have a complete game and can play aggressive too. I'm stunned right now. He's going to be a great great player as he gets bigger.
I don’t think out muscle him was good advice. Especially since Winston doesn’t hit off front foot enough and bc visnanth likes pace. Hitting deeper ways good first strategy but you gave up on it. Before giving him enough balls to make some mistakes or at least play some deep/short points. Mixing in more slices.
Rishvanth played really well. Strategy wise, I would have actually taken the pace off because he really feeds off pace. I would give him slow loopy returns down the middle and force him to generate pace which would hopefully lead to some short balls that I could then attack.
Rishvanth's one weakness is his backhand, so I would have capitalized on that. He's got good form on stationary bh shots, but when he has to move to it, it's less consistent, especially compared to his forehand which he clearly favors and dictates with. That said, the kid is solid!

Really liked this video. Consistency and knowing patterns of play are so key to get past the club level. Younger players tend to get frustrated and overhit but he was very calm. Seemed to make a few more errors when trying to hit a low ball, maybe because of the full western grip?

Tough match. I’m super impressed. He knows how to place the ball deep at angles off shots that land around the service line. I don’t understand how he is able to have that type of ball control. Does he change his grip and swing differently for short balls?
What’s most impressive to me is how calm & aggressive his game is. He is patient but has depth when he wants it. Quite solid for a 13 year old.
