- This is the complete trail review and guide for "Jackrabbit Trail" near Victorville, CA. We take you through every difficult spot, every rut, and every turn on the trail starting from Old Route 66 through the hills toward Interstate 15, then through the mining area and back toward Helendale, finishing a few miles east of where we started.
If you have never done the Jack Rabbit off-road Jeep trail this video will show you what you have to look forward to and shows you all the rough areas, and the dangerous spots on the trail.
Jackrabbit trail is about 25 miles long, and is a "beginner" or easy 4x4 trail that any stock Jeep or 4x4 truck can do - but there are some spots to be careful of.

Thanks for showing the easy trails! Finding ones to slowly work my wife into the lifestyle
There's more to come so be sure to subscribe!
@@TheNotaRubicon Already subscribed and notified! Taking her up berdoo in a couple weeks, just have to get a few things ready. safe wheeling!
I just want u to know how appreciative i am with all ur detailed trail videos in,Im a newbie and it greatly helps a lot to see videos like this...im a new subscriber and going to learn alot from u....thanks a million god bless and be safe.👍🏽
I’m not a beginner. But really enjoyed watching anyway
I watch just because its fun to ride along. Love your comments, down to earth, pull no punches and tell it like it is....Keep up the good work. I've been taking my scouts out who are interested in off roading and we have a ball.
Hope it looks that beautiful when we go!!!
I’m new to off-roading so thank you for this very informative video! I like others here are trying to encourage the wife with the famous saying, “it’ll be fun!” ...really enjoyed this. Liked and Subscribed!👍
I live near Cleghorn and am looking forward to trying out all these trails that these videos showcase. Great videos. Just lifted a 19 Jeep 3.5” with 37s....so much fun.
Thanks for the videos. We love watching them!!!
Another great video fellas. Always love the education and knowledge you provide when on any road. Really knowledgeable stuff you guys provide. Thanks
I'm watching it because it beats doing chores!
Love your videos of our local area. Thank you!
Enjoyed the video, I'm not a beginner, but enjoy all types of wheeling.
This is pretty cool, thanks for this! Someplace I've also never been
Not a beginner but bored as hell so I watched. If you watch your bumper lights over the hood you can see how much flex is in the frame/body. Quite a bit! No wonder aluminum radiators fail so often.. Thanks for the vids, I always enjoy them!
I did this trail on my 2WD 2018 f150 before watching this vid and yes he’s right. If you’re a beginner then it’s a big no. If you’re experienced, you can find yourself around the little bits of difficult spots with a 2WD vehicle. Other than that don’t try it with a 2WD... my friends subí wagon outback did it in 2WD and 4 low in a few hills so it can be managed...
another nice beginner trip....but some important off road features that are good tests for vehicle and newbies...thanks
Can I come next time? Total beginner but I’m willing to learn
Very informative!
I am here because I was reading a letter written by my late grandfather in 1921 where he said he took the jackrabbit trail up to the summit in his roadster.
Probably not this trail, since we named it ourselves in 2015.
You can honestly do it In two wheel drive just will have to give it the beans here and there but if you do don’t go alone
lol the beans, because beans give you gas. so you got to give it some gas. hahaha very funny
I just bought a 2020 wrangler willys, stock 32" mud terrain tires, no lockers, no sway bar quick disconnect. I am going to hit this trail up with my other jeep beginner buddy and am pretty sure we will avoid dead bunny hill. My question is regarding that last steep incline that you mentioned we might need lockers for. Is there a bypass for that hill because neither of us have lockers. Thanks.
No bypass for that last small/steep hill but we've led dozens of vehicles with no lockers on this trail and they've all made it home.
Have you done it yet and if so how was it? Are you in a beginner jeep club?
Most of those trails you have gone on I have been on with a dune buggy that is 2 wheel drive
i took my moms Prius on it
I have a stock 88 Comanche with the 4.0L, 5 speed, and only upgrade would be 31 all terrains. Besides Hollister, is there anything like this near me around Monterey Bay to SF Bay and surrounding areas?
Need some advise. I'd love to get into offroading. Planning on getting a 4runner offroad within 4 years. Anything I should to prep? I don't want to the idiot on the trail. Subscribed btw!!!
Excellent video as always, have someone new to off -roading and sent him the link to this video. Anyway to get a file of coordinates to send him to load on his Garmin?

Thank you very much , that is a very nice site. Very impressive.
Did you stop at the Cross Eyed Cow to eat on route 66 in ore grand?
Hi Randy.. That looks like a fun ride. I am some what new to the 4x4 world. I have been out with our little group about 4 times. I live out in Lucerne Valley near Johnson Valley.
I would love to go out with your group sometime.
Im Brent Peterson WRMJ353
Cool videos
What Garmin are you using that shows the coordinates and speed on the screen? Very clear sound and smooth video. What kind/model of radios are you using?
That is a Garmin Nuvi LM and we use Baofeng UV-5R and F8-HP radios.
@@TheNotaRubicon Very nice setup, very informative video for beginners. I don't wheel in CA, since I live in AZ but your videos are excellent and I like watching them. When I trail lead I need to be more like you and give out as much information as possible to my group because you never know everybody's experience levels when leading a trail ride. I also use both of those Baofengs and I just installed a Yaesu ham radio in my JK. Now to get that Garmin :)
Love how you show how to get there. Is this open right now ?
This is all open/BLM land so it can't really be closed.
really good video :-)
thanks
Do you turn on AC when off roading ? or in hot weather in the desert ? THANKS!
If the outside temperature is higher than 78°F, the AC is ON in both the NotARubicon and the IsARubicon!
What trails in the San Bernardino's are good beginner trails? We did N1O9 yesterday in our new Ranger but even though it was a beautiful ride it seemed a little too easy and what like to find a trail with a higher mountain view.
Thanks

I've found that there are a number of trails that are fairly easy for beginners. Just get out there and you'll find them. But cloudland truck trail and 2n49 are some easy trails that I do all the time. They can get snow during the winter
From the start of the trailhead, about how long did it take for you to complete the trail?
You could do it in an hour or two if you dont dilly-dally..
Are OHVs allowed on this trail and is there a staging area at the trail head?
There is a large area at the trailhead but not sure about the legality of OHVs in the area.
Can you hunt around there ?
Can you put the address for the start of the trail?
I've driven both directions in my medium travel extracab silverado 35" fitter done desert meats... Cake but only cause two moto, camping gear all weighing down in my bed. I've gone were some fourwheel drives couldn't.. 🇺🇸
2WD FTW!!!! hahaha
What size lift and tires size you are running ??
The NotaRubicon has 37" tires and a 3.5" lift.. The IsARubicon has 35" tires and a 4.5" lift.
Cool thanks
I be sliding all over that on my Suzuki Quad
This is totally doable with one wheel drive bikes. :)
I seen people trying to do cleghorn in snow with a 2 wheel drive . 🤦♂️
That's fun 😅
Can this be done in a stock cherokee trailhawk
If it has 4WD, then yes.. We would recommend taking the bypass around DeadBunny Hill.
@@TheNotaRubicon Thanks for the reply, yes it is 4wd, has rear lockers. When I said stock.. I was referring to height
@@jameseddy2293 Hey James. How was it? Did you make it out? I'm local and drive an AWD forester with AT tires but only about 9 inches of ground clearance. If you haven't made it out, let me know if you're up for it.
@@saliro5 haven't made it out there yet, but would love to. My trailhawk is stock height which has about 9" also. Seems like it is doable as long as you avoid dead bunny hill
@@jameseddy2293 Hi James, I also have a stock cherokee trailhawk. Maybe the 3 of us can get together and do this trail.
Hi Randy, i have never seen you with hair. Looks like the COVID hair has grown in. lol
2wd friendly ?
skip to 3:40 lol

Thanks for the video! How does one find groups/people to off-road with? I have a 03 TJ with a modest 2" lift and 245 M/T tires, Ive done Cleghorn and Azusa Canyon OHV but ive been wanting to get out and do some beginner to moderate trails. Just is there a page on social media where people link up? Thanks for any info.
Link up with us! We try to lead a few runs a month, although we've had to temporarily stop during this plague... You can sign up to get a notification via email any time we post a public run - sign up here: www.notarubicon.com/eventreg/

👍
3:20 "two or three wheels up in the air". Thought this was an easy trail.
That only happens on the big hill if the vehicle does not have a lot of flex.
@@TheNotaRubicon "three wheels up in the air" is my kind of hill.
When you encounter shooters, are they typically watching out for approaching off-road traffic or making sure they aren’t shooting in your direction? Noob here and honestly, that’s the part of this trail that concerns me. We’ve encountered some real idiots with firearms. I have no problems with firearms (retired LEO), just idiots who don’t play safely.
In this area we have come across idiots shooting across the road, not watching out for others, and drinking while shooting.. This area seems to be the mecca for idiots who don't play safely..
@@TheNotaRubicon Thanks so much for your reply.
Lol that’s my neighborhood 😂
Do you think a stock 93 f150 4x4 ca do it
You might want to avoid the steep, "Dead-Bunny Hill" but other than that, we've taken other F150s here and they made it.
U wouldn’t blesve where my dune buggy will go
Subaru can make it.
No, not any Subaru can make it..
Kills me to see trash out on the trails. I wish people cared more.
Huge fuel burning for nothing
