    When my wife and I were in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 in 2019 we visited most of the sites you visited in this video.
    We visited Dunure and Dunure Castle was the first castle we visited! When we visited the harbor in Dunure, there was people jumping off the old light house into the water. And there was was an ice cream shop in one of the white fishing cottages.
    We stoped at the Electric Brae, that was very cool. I’ve never experienced anything like it!
    And we stopped at Trump Turnberry and have a bit to eat in the clubhouse.
    Thanks for this video and reminding us of the memories!!!

      Thanks for watching John and I'm pleased it brought back some good memories for you. It was certainly an enjoyable day and a reminder of just how much there is to see in this part of Scotland. I know what you mean about the Electric Brae - it felt like some kind of supernatural force pushing the car!

      Thanks so much Kathy, that's extremely kind of you to say. I had a great day and to be honest I could have spent two days driving that section - I had to leave quite a few things out. 👍😃

      Yes I would love to, there's a few more Scottish road trips I'd love to do including the North East 250, the Isle of Skye and Loch Lomond & The Trossachs. So much to see up there!

      I would have to do that one in the high summer temperatures. I've heard some storied of their cold weather. I like warm, not cold and windy.

    • @MattWhitingsEurope
      @MattWhitingsEurope  2 роки тому +1

      Ha I know how you feel, it can certainly get cold and windy in Scotland. Mind you, that's when all the midges come out!

    Your editing with the 'it works' as you roll backwards was ON POINT 🙌💪 I knew of a place like this in Eastern Canada, but didn't have a car at the time as I was too young to rent one to visit it - didn't know there was one in Scotland! Turnberry lighthouse was adorable - I'm so used to seeing them all white and turquoise in the UK, so lovely to see the trimmings yellow instead. The light you managed to capture in Girvan was beautiful - really appreciated the sunset at the beach. The weather has been better for you than what you'd hinted at the start of this series - though there seem to be scary looking clouds in the background a lot, it looks like you missed the rains on this day?

    • @MattWhitingsEurope
      @MattWhitingsEurope  2 роки тому

      Thanks very much, it's the only way I could think of that demonstrated the illusion. I was just lucky that no one pulled up behind me whilst setting the camera up. I really liked Girvan, I was expecting to stay for 15-20 minutes but in the end I was there a lot longer. The rain and weather was worse than you're seeing on the video unfortunately, there were a few times I had to change my plans because it was so wet - don't like getting my camera out when it's raining as I've had a couple of occasions where condensation gets caught up in the lens and it's basically unusable for the rest of the day. I tended to continue driving when the rain came down - mind you for the most part it was showers and didn't cause me any major problems, however it's frustrating when you're on a tight schedule.

    An episode of Outlander was filmed at Dunure a couple of years ago.

    Looks like you went on down to Electric Avenue! The golfing really aged you; but an incredible swing! Stay safe on the edge! We take back the requests for more risks lol. Yea, more beaches! Must have been hard to stay focused on the road with that gorgeous sunset.

    • @MattWhitingsEurope
      @MattWhitingsEurope  2 роки тому +2

      He called me over once he'd taken the shot & asked me if I wanted a go. I asked him if he'd be happy with me filming it and he agreed. I borrowed his driver and hit a 450 yard power ball as straight as a gun barrel. Bounced on the fringe of the green, rolled 20 yards and dropped in the hole. Can you imagine how devastated I was when I realised I hasn't hit record. Still, the sunset cheered me up!

      Alisa Craig looked spectacular from where I was - mysterious and raw. I would love to visit it but didn't really have time to investigate how to get there. I heard afterwards they do tour boats from Girvan. The shape of that island is truly EPIC.

      Old Stumpy is a legend around those parts! Glad I was able to find him in the end. I loved the areas, I thought it was well worth a visit! Beautiful scenery and plenty to do. That boat ride sounds brutal, I'm not surprised it put you off. Thanks for watching!
