honestly with the amount of trauma in his backstory gojo could've easily been a villain but he actively choses to do good and that's what makes him stand out
that's the difference between Gojo and Geto. It's like the quote between batman and owlman. "There is a difference between you and me. We both looked into the abyss, but when it looked back at us, you blinked." Gojo saw the darkest side of humanity and still chose to become it's protector, beliving in the good of the world. Geto said, fuck it, burn it all down.
The irony in Gojo’s character is, for all of his power, he is powerless to destroy the one thing he detest the most: the existing corrupt system. Gojo had said it himself. He can walk in and kill all the officials in the rooms, and they would only be replaced by corrupt officials. He needs his students to transform the system for the better.
But many villain's have the idea of destroying everything and rebuilding it from the ashes, and Gojo has the power to do this if he wanted. I think it shows some kind of caring for the current jujutsu system and the people in it that he'd rather take the difficult and uncertain route of trying to reform it rather than murdering all the adults and becoming the only teacher and leader for the next generation.

This aspect of him is explored a lot more in the manga! Definitely give it a read bc once we learn a bit more about his history as a student and young adult, the darker side of him makes WAY more sense!

I think what makes him such a good character is that even though he is so strong he KNOWS that he has to depend on others, hence him being a teacher and nurturing the next generation. Also the fact that he has the strongest curse abilities, yet still focuses so much on hand to hand combat.

Sukuna and Gojo are the pinnacles of the Jujutsu Kaisen world and also a mirror of the other. One represents the humans, and the other for the curses, yet they’re both considered a singularity amongst those they represent. I think that’s why Geto’s plans involve both of them and not trying to deal with only one of them. In an upcoming arc, Sukuna tells Jogo to stand proud because he is strong, which is almost the exact opposite of Gojo mocking Jogo for being weak and nothing compared to him. I’m excited to see if the two will ever clash and what the outcome will be
Oh, that made me think of something in another video. Sukuna, when he was a human, may have started off weak. Gojo on the other hand was born strong. Another potential mirror of one another that informs their attitudes, their different opinions on Jogo being a prime example.
[Manga spoilers] Yes to everything you said! I loved the concept of the blindfold being vulnerability and care. But I also think that to delve more into his loneliness, his character and his overall story, it's necessary to talk about Geto (Though I get why you didn't). I think the way he acts now, the way he thinks and why he wants to change the jujutsu world have to do with his "ex" best friend. A "we" became" and "I". The person he knew best and who knew him best slipped through his fingers without even realizing. He was the only equal Gojo ever had in every sense of the word and the jujutsu world broke him. Their bond showed him what relying on someone was like, what trusting someone was like; and when he had that broken it's not a surprise that everything he believed in shifted. In the end what you said about Gojo's weakness being his care for people you were right, because Kenjaku used that against him to trap him. He realized Gojo's achilles' heel: Geto. He has been the only person in the entire story to make him lose his cool. First when he was told what he had done in that village, and then when Kenjaku appeared with his body. It makes you wonder how closely Kenjaku had been looking at them both throughout the years.
Spoiler He had to kill his best friend, only to realize some dumb brain took over his corpse. Ofc he would feel lonely, he couldn't kill him even when he was in front of him. If yuuta hadn't fatally injured him gojo wouldn't have killed him That time either

Frankly, it's amazing how mild Gojo's god complex is, given how strong he is. Because if I had such power, I'm not sure if I could remain a good guy and would not want to conquer the world, for example. He is still able to empathize with others when he and everyone else is separated by such an abyss, literally and figuratively. That's why he wants Yuji and everyone else to become strong, because if everyone is strong, Gojo won't stand out so much.
If you are as powerful as him, you don't feel the need to prove yourself your strength, lol. If you were all powerful, why would you conquer the world, what would be the point? You know you can, that's all that matters.
@@SRoy-rk3tj gojos god complex is still mild tbh. his "throughout heaven and earth i alone am the honored one" was a moment where he was basically high on power, basically unlocking godhood with reverse cursed technique + hollow purple. however, following this event he was still the same old gojo, only now he was stronger (and miles stronger than everyone else). his "god complex" was knocked down already when geto defected, when he realized it didn't matter how strong he was, he still couldn't save geto. in my opinion, gojo satoru does not have a god complex. he's just straightforward and knows the simple facts - he is the strongest, his birth altered the balance of the world, and he uses this to his advantage to reach his goals. he knows he is the strongest, but he does not believe he is above others as people.

If you think about it, Gojo has a good and fun personality. It''ll easily make you think that he has many friends and deep bonds when in fact he's always an infinity away from them. Well, quite literally since he activates his infinity 24/7 but you get the point haha
It's always interesting to see a shonen protagonist who is stronger than all the other characters at the start of the show. Usually these characters are relegated to mentor roles and are eventually killed when a strong main antagonist comes along to provide character motivation for the main protagonist. But what's great about JJK is that the series does not seem to be heading in that direction. Instead Akutami seems to be completely removing the strength narrative away from Gojo and focusing purely on an emotional character arc.
[SPOILER] I’m just giving my opinion though JJK is clearly heading to the direction you’ve described (where the mentor is killed and generates the motivation of the main protagonist) starting from the ’emotional character arc’. However the mangaka made a variation of that plot to hold everything in a ’?' that adds a lot to the charm of the story the same way thriller movies do. The mangaka just likes to trigger our curiosity and patience to grab our attention in a pleasant way. We question everything we see: who's that guy? Is he strong? What's his role in the story? Is he dead tho? Is he good tho? The mangaka knows how to show beforehand the depth/strength/importance of a character before even telling us his story AND without making it too obvious. Clearly, JJK mangaka has mastered the typical shonen plot to create this masterpiece. I like JJK.

I love that Gojo is strong enough to destroy the entire world. His goal of changing the Jujutsu world for the better is easily attainable through massacring everyone who would oppose his ideals... But that's too easy. Gojo teaches and educates the next generation because his strength isn't factored in. He's going to change the world, not with godly power, but with wisdom and patience

Gojo started covering his eyes after he got beating up by a person who had 0 curse energy and called himself a money. This is the first time he had to train his limitless senses. He partially did this by covering his eyes to no rely on them. When he was younger he never wore a headband untill like age 15 ish+.
4:47 There is another thing about Six Eyes. In the manga, Okkotsu states that while he has more cursed energy than Gojo, Gojo's Six Eyes basically makes his cursed energy minimal, allowing him to basically never run out of cursed energy.
Without spoiling much, gojo is a character so strong he actually manages to hold all of the clans in check and single handedly leverage his views into fruition

I think that he's a far superior teacher to Allmight. He's unconventional, but his methods mostly do what they're intended to do. I actually think Yuuji and Gojo are big reasons why the other is starting to be able to get closer to other people throughout the story despite their complexes with characters like Okkotsu and Fushiguro being there to enhance it due to their shared connections to both of them.

Honestly Jujustu Kaisen to me feels like a pretty basic anime, but I have never been so utterly fascinated by how OP a character is in anime. Like it's not jusr that Gojo is strong, it's the WAY he's strong. The way the infinity works...incredible.

He has total control over physics. He can create matter, and dark matter, then force them together and literally annihilate the atoms. I don't think people can really wrap their heads around how powerful that is. When we launch a nuclear bomb we are taking a heavy element and breaking it into smaller elements, releasing energy at an unfathomable scale. Now imagine not just releasing 1/10th of the strength of those atoms, but totally annihilating them, releasing the full unbridled power inside. Gojo, if he really has the power its said he has, could destroy Earth, or the solar system. Entirely. Alone. Thats not just an OP character, thats the most OP character in the history of characters lol atleast in Anime.
When gojo has his mask on, he can still see curses and other energies from other characters, he can also layer infinity to make it not be able to hit him. That is good enough. With his mask off he instantly can block things with infinity without making signs and his range is a giant distance. He can also teleport more freely and can glare at people and destroy them. When gojo had his mask on he changed space and flipped it around for himself so he could appear behind Jogo.

Okay but another character I can’t unhear when I’m watching Gojo is Shigure Sohma (Fruits Basket 2019). Aside from having the same VA and exactly the same voice, they have that same cockiness, playfulness, authority, selfishness and they even have the same goal-wanting to change the way things are or breaking the current system. Honestly I really really hope you make you an add on video to this one and itadori’s one eventually, perhaps when it’s animated. Gojo and itadori are some of my favorite characters ever and what’s happening in the manga REALLY explains and supports what you’re saying about them. Slight spoiler indication: the way Gojo is so incredibly lonely and practically lives in a completely different world. He had one proper bond which fell apart and he was completely powerless despite being the most powerful. The world which he is higher than everyone in strength is the same world where he was completely powerless to save someone by other means. Despite his abilities being godlike he’s still a human which I think makes it so hard for him. To be like a god but feel like a human, to me that is absolute loneliness.

The irony in Gojo’s character is, for all of his power, he is powerless to destroy the one thing he detest the most: the existing corrupt system.
Gojo had said it himself. He can walk in and kill all the officials in the rooms, and they would only be replaced by corrupt officials. He needs his students to transform the system for the better.
But many villain's have the idea of destroying everything and rebuilding it from the ashes, and Gojo has the power to do this if he wanted. I think it shows some kind of caring for the current jujutsu system and the people in it that he'd rather take the difficult and uncertain route of trying to reform it rather than murdering all the adults and becoming the only teacher and leader for the next generation.

Sukuna and Gojo are the pinnacles of the Jujutsu Kaisen world and also a mirror of the other. One represents the humans, and the other for the curses, yet they’re both considered a singularity amongst those they represent. I think that’s why Geto’s plans involve both of them and not trying to deal with only one of them. In an upcoming arc, Sukuna tells Jogo to stand proud because he is strong, which is almost the exact opposite of Gojo mocking Jogo for being weak and nothing compared to him. I’m excited to see if the two will ever clash and what the outcome will be

Yes to everything you said! I loved the concept of the blindfold being vulnerability and care. But I also think that to delve more into his loneliness, his character and his overall story, it's necessary to talk about Geto (Though I get why you didn't).
I think the way he acts now, the way he thinks and why he wants to change the jujutsu world have to do with his "ex" best friend. A "we" became" and "I". The person he knew best and who knew him best slipped through his fingers without even realizing. He was the only equal Gojo ever had in every sense of the word and the jujutsu world broke him.
Their bond showed him what relying on someone was like, what trusting someone was like; and when he had that broken it's not a surprise that everything he believed in shifted.
In the end what you said about Gojo's weakness being his care for people you were right, because Kenjaku used that against him to trap him. He realized Gojo's achilles' heel: Geto. He has been the only person in the entire story to make him lose his cool. First when he was told what he had done in that village, and then when Kenjaku appeared with his body.
It makes you wonder how closely Kenjaku had been looking at them both throughout the years.
The interpretation that Gojo is lonely is really sad, because manga readers will know it wasn’t always that way.

in my opinion, gojo satoru does not have a god complex. he's just straightforward and knows the simple facts - he is the strongest, his birth altered the balance of the world, and he uses this to his advantage to reach his goals. he knows he is the strongest, but he does not believe he is above others as people.

It's always interesting to see a shonen protagonist who is stronger than all the other characters at the start of the show. Usually these characters are relegated to mentor roles and are eventually killed when a strong main antagonist comes along to provide character motivation for the main protagonist. But what's great about JJK is that the series does not seem to be heading in that direction. Instead Akutami seems to be completely removing the strength narrative away from Gojo and focusing purely on an emotional character arc.
[SPOILER] I’m just giving my opinion though
JJK is clearly heading to the direction you’ve described (where the mentor is killed and generates the motivation of the main protagonist) starting from the ’emotional character arc’. However the mangaka made a variation of that plot to hold everything in a ’?' that adds a lot to the charm of the story the same way thriller movies do. The mangaka just likes to trigger our curiosity and patience to grab our attention in a pleasant way. We question everything we see: who's that guy? Is he strong? What's his role in the story? Is he dead tho? Is he good tho? The mangaka knows how to show beforehand the depth/strength/importance of a character before even telling us his story AND without making it too obvious.
Clearly, JJK mangaka has mastered the typical shonen plot to create this masterpiece. I like JJK.

Gojo started covering his eyes after he got beating up by a person who had 0 curse energy and called himself a money. This is the first time he had to train his limitless senses. He partially did this by covering his eyes to no rely on them. When he was younger he never wore a headband untill like age 15 ish+.
4:47 There is another thing about Six Eyes. In the manga, Okkotsu states that while he has more cursed energy than Gojo, Gojo's Six Eyes basically makes his cursed energy minimal, allowing him to basically never run out of cursed energy.

JJK is inspiring me to get back into writing, and Gojo is a big factor in this. I think one of my favorite tidbits is the fact his Limitless ability is based on Zeno's Paradox. Overall, I just love the idea of The Vast: that everything is incohemprensibly large. Infinite. And even attempting to think about it for too long breaks people.

I think that he's a far superior teacher to Allmight. He's unconventional, but his methods mostly do what they're intended to do. I think it would be cool to see your analysis of the shibuya incident, and the character development of itadori throughout the arc. One of the best manga arcs i have read. I feel the arc changed my views about the anime from being a good anime to a masterpiece.

Honestly Jujustu Kaisen to me feels like a pretty basic anime, but I have never been so utterly fascinated by how OP a character is in anime.
Like it's not jusr that Gojo is strong, it's the WAY he's strong. The way the infinity works...incredible.
It has a such basic idea it uses it characters to make it so much more interesting and detailed
it's an anime that's carried by the characters, kind of like Haikyuu i'd say. oh but the story really picks up in the manga, i's recommend reading it it's super cool
He has total control over physics. He can create matter, and dark matter, then force them together and literally annihilate the atoms. I don't think people can really wrap their heads around how powerful that is. When we launch a nuclear bomb we are taking a heavy element and breaking it into smaller elements, releasing energy at an unfathomable scale. Now imagine not just releasing 1/10th of the strength of those atoms, but totally annihilating them, releasing the full unbridled power inside. Gojo, if he really has the power its said he has, could destroy Earth, or the solar system. Entirely. Alone. Thats not just an OP character, thats the most OP character in the history of characters lol atleast in Anime.

When gojo has his mask on, he can still see curses and other energies from other characters, he can also layer infinity to make it not be able to hit him. That is good enough.
With his mask off he instantly can block things with infinity without making signs and his range is a giant distance. He can also teleport more freely and can glare at people and destroy them.
When gojo had his mask on he changed space and flipped it around for himself so he could appear behind Jogo.

Really love your breakdown of Gojo. He is my favorite character in the show. Gojo understood the answer to the question of what a good life is but struggles to reach it. Despite having all the power, knowledge, and influence in the face of his goals, they mean nothing. You helped me actually come up with a clear theme and idea for my own work. Okay but another character I can’t unhear when I’m watching Gojo is Shigure Sohma (Fruits Basket 2019). Aside from having the same VA and exactly the same voice, they have that same cockiness, playfulness, authority, selfishness and they even have the same goal-wanting to change the way things are or breaking the current system. I love them both!

Honestly I really really hope you make you an add on video to this one and itadori’s one eventually, perhaps when it’s animated. Gojo and itadori are some of my favorite characters ever and what’s happening in the manga REALLY explains and supports what you’re saying about them. Slight spoiler indication: the way Gojo is so incredibly lonely and practically lives in a completely different world. He had one proper bond which fell apart and he was completely powerless despite being the most powerful. The world which he is higher than everyone in strength is the same world where he was completely powerless to save someone by other means. Despite his abilities being godlike he’s still a human which I think makes it so hard for him. To be like a god but feel like a human, to me that is absolute loneliness.
