i have been a licensed Cosmetologist since 1988, and color started interesting me in 2000!! You have wonderful technique, and I enjoy your videos so much!! Remember to never let yourself stop learning from every resource you have! Also, take good care of your feet, even if it means ugly shoes- you have a great career ahead of you!!! : )
Nice Video! Apologies for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Millawdon Goodbye Gray Trick (probably on Google)? It is a great one of a kind product for learning how to reverse gray hair fast minus the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my m8 got great results with it.
Appreciate Video clip! Apologies for the intrusion, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you considered - Millawdon Independent Decision Trick (search on google)? It is a good one of a kind product for learning how to get rid pf your gray hair minus the normal expense. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my friend Sam got excellent success with it.
@hairbylexidawn Thanks for this video! I had a stylist do foil highlights then after all the foils she put in a root color then put me under the dryer. 😞 my roots were nothing but brass. She had to put on another root color to try to tone out my roots. In which didn’t help. My hair got blow dryed like 3 times in that session. My hair is still recovering from that day. Horrible experience. Now I see how it should’ve been done.
@@AbiCroCro same. On that journey now. There is so much free education here on YT it's kinda mind-blowing.... I feel like going back and taking it to these so-called professionals!
It's astounding that these professionals make these rookie mistakes all the time. I'm a dark brunette who is now blonde due to having to perform my own color correction
I personally have done. But I had to keep an eye on the processed hair closer to the roots( after I remove the foils) bc they need a toner to correct any warmth. And the rest of the highlights would need a different toner. In another words, I used two toners. I’m a licensed stylist.
If I directly highlight the grey hair from the roots by applying a blonder n then wash it off n put a color on it will it be able to cover the grey hair with the color???? Or should I first cover my roots with black since I'm an Indian n my hair is originally black n then leave that area n highlight only the mid length of my hair till the ends??? Please reply as I want to get it done in a few days time. The box that I have is the Streax highlights box in the shade cappuccino brown.
retouch on something like this is what really stresses me out.. would you pretty please do a video on retouching highlights when it's not a full head of highlights but there are low lights in between.. there are no videos on UA-cam that address that kind of retouch.
I guess my point in asking is because it's not like you're going through and looking for the exact sections that you did blonde and then finding the ones you did dark and following the exact pattern? you just part you would if you're doing a weave for the first time and paint accordingly? I don't know if my question is making sense
I can't do it that way if my client has one and a half inch gray. If she has 1/4 growth, then yeah, I would do it, she likes the highlights up to her roots, not away from her roots. I do the roots first, wash and dry then do highlights. Or do highlights then apply color on her gray.
I'm having a hard time touching up my grays and was told to use developer for 20 min before applying color. Also the ends are much darker for some reason, what's your advise if I want to color my whole head and have it be the same color?
+Rosexracer i would definitely go to a professional. They would be able to see your hair and know what to do. It would be hard for me to tell you what to do when I haven't seen or touched your hair
+Stephanie Toney this is pretty high maintenance because of her wanting to keep her roots brown. She usually waits 4 weeks but has a lot of gray when she comes in.
Lexi Dawn thanks for the reply - I was afraid it was high maintenance because I loved it. I've been coloring my own roots with a 5NN and 20 volume myself for several years now to avoid high maintenance but I miss the brightness of blonde highlights and most of my gray is around my face and part so it shows really quickly. I've been looking for ways to add blonde back in to camouflage some of the grays.
I also like to mix my toner in with my lightener depending on the client but I've never thought about this technique and I have no idea why lol. Thanks for your feedback!!!
+Ashley Vandermast I used 20vol. Yeah it will pull really warm if you over lap root color and bleach because you are trying to get through that color plus her natural dark hair which will pull warm when lifting. You really have two options though, you can do just wait longer with the bleach on until it is pale yellow or you can do the highlights first than go in with a root color.
Hi , I just find you And you have another subscriber here Thank you for sharing your knowledge I appreciate it . What would happens with the base color if I am slow person doing the highlights ? Worst full highlights Can the base formula stay longer?

I love to see the grey hair videos! Too many people have it easy having younger clients without grey! lol

I’ve only ever had “professionals” mess up my hair, and I’ve spent hundreds at a time in fancy, trendy London salons. I’m going to do it myself!

I am glad u showed that we can highlight over processing color. Would you use this same process for a person with a years regrowth of gray hair?
You would have to do it separately with such a large regrowth.
Roots then rinse and dry hair then do highlights.
This turned out AMAZING!
Hey.. just wanted to say professional to professional.. this look amazing
Great video
But can you explain your matrix formulas please 😁
Loved this ! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Very nice I love your attention to detail
Wow! Good job!! Video's music is beautiful. Hello from México. #FuerzaMexico.
I love watching your stuff (:
You are amazing. Yay for this video, now I can do everything in one application than doing them separately.
Not sure if you washed the roots out first then the highlights or all together as the highlights could darken With the colour ? Many thanks
Beautiful work 😍and very informative
Thank you for this video!
Beautiful work!
Can I do color retouch in level 3 natural with gray hair the way the you doing it? Or I will get hot roots?
I personally have done. But I had to keep an eye on the processed hair closer to the roots( after I remove the foils) bc they need a toner to correct any warmth. And the rest of the highlights would need a different toner. In another words, I used two toners. I’m a licensed stylist.
Ooo wow , thank you so much question. Please reply
In mohawk. Section we stand in side. So the foils go little diagonal is ok?
Thanks

Would you do a root retouch with dark brown then highlight the hair at the same time?
You are so very talented!
ilove all your vids thanks for sharing

+Alicia Montgomery I have a video on highlight and lowlights you could see if that helps at all.
Lexi Dawn thanks! is it a retouch?

I love that you did a great job on covering The Grey. Was it hard to process the roots that you highlighted on those pieces?
+Sherry Dufrenne no it usually all process well on her. But it depends on each client how it will process.
❤❤❤
When washing the roots out could it stain the highlights darker?
yeah thats why when I rinse the roots out I use cooler water.
Thank u Lexi!!! How do you break down the cost of this service?! xo - gina
Thanks for sharing, nice technique! Who is the artist for the music playing?
Why did you have to tone her roots after doing a root color? Does the color with the lightener turn brassy?
I can't do it that way if my client has one and a half inch gray. If she has 1/4 growth, then yeah, I would do it, she likes the highlights up to her roots, not away from her roots. I do the roots first, wash and dry then do highlights. Or do highlights then apply color on her gray.
hi how long did it take from beginning to end thank you
+A j mw I️ schedule out about 2 hours.
So you did a root touch up, full head foils, toned and dried in 2 hrs? Wow...

White hair pe highlights ho skta hai?
Mam plz tell which color u hv used for grey hair coverage and for high lights
is gray boost part of the joico line or is it something you can add to any haircolor?
+Noelle Thomas it's something you can add to any line
Hey girl can you add the color formula for the grey color?
Beautiful
Did you wait before putting highlights or did you highlight right after applying the root color?
+shadowdancers right after. The root color needed to sit on for at least 45 min but could stay on longer while waiting for the highlights to lift.
Lexi Dawn Thank you!!
How will we wash client's hair in this type of technique
I have the same question? How to avoid the root color not mixing with the highlights?
Very helpful videos 💖💖
I love your tutorials but is the second time you haven't mentioned what shades Eq you used to tone her hair with ?
Patricia Castillo I don't always write down my formulas so sometimes I don't remember. I probably toned her with an 8/9 of some sort.
I love your videos, thank you for sharing! where do you get such a wide foil? what brand it is? I'm in UK and struggle to find it.
+Tanya Race I just get my foils from a store called cosmoprof here. I'm not sure the brand.
What will the maintenance be like with this? I have similar hair with a lot of gray that is showing 2 weeks after hair color.
+Stephanie Toney this is pretty high maintenance because of her wanting to keep her roots brown. She usually waits 4 weeks but has a lot of gray when she comes in.
Lexi Dawn thanks for the reply - I was afraid it was high maintenance because I loved it. you could totally do highlights throughout your hair to help with the grays. having some blonde helps you go longer in between colors.
Kindly share product information as well ...
Which clour you used that highlight..this is bleach or coulour plz reply
Thanks for sharing was really informative
Nice job .. Could you please list the color and toners ? Including the developers used
So sorry but this was so long ago that I don’t remember exactly what I used.
What exactly toner did you used?
Will this technique work if someone with black hair wants highlights?
+Lovez Cakez you can use this technique it will just depend on what level of blonde highlights they want and how many processes they will need.
What volume of peroxide did you use for the roots and for the highlights?
Hi how much blue do u put please.
+Jaime Edwards just like a dime size amount
Hi! Are you combing the root color down the slice and then adding the lightener??
Color touching lightener’s ?
Don’t you get a weird Color??
I do it! It melts both colors together beautifully if it’s done correctly ❤
I also like to mix my toner in with my lightener depending on the client but I've never thought about this technique and I have no idea why lol. Thanks for your feedback!!!
Not sure if you said this, what volume bleach did you use? Mine is always warm when I over lap the bleach and color

Worst full highlights
Can the base formula stay longer?
Yes. A lot of color lines allow up to 40 min for gray coverage
What is 8N sheer for the roots?
Yeah! 1000
👌
If I use 7n on natural level 4 for gray coverage it's gone work or not
With 20 volume
+Ayesha Zahid that would all depend on what your end goal is and the color line you are using.
Ayesha Zahid How would I use a medium Auburn to cover the Grey at the root .Then put high lights and lowlights.
love..you tones 8n root...ends,???
Cynthia Lopresti my guess is probably 9. It's pretty light x
Hey did u put bleach over the color?
+Victor Smith yep!
I am almost graduating cosmo school and I was told; bleach over perm color is a NO NO,
What are u doing different..:?
its just really hard to lighten permanent color but you can do it.
what kind of bleach do you use?
+Mayra V. Verolight lightening powder
THANX FOR RESPONDING .I will give it a try for sure.
8N sheer matrix ok
Just let the natural hair come in already.
