Him becoming emotionless is actually addressed in the "Dungeon with the Prisoners" arc which was in season 1 in the manhwa. After he kills the C rank surveillance agent he says this: " Without a doubt, I've become much more powerful than before. But for some reason ... I feel like something is destroyed inside of me everytime I get stronger" I interpreted it as everytime he has to push himself to get stronger or have to kill someone to survive he loses a part of the old him who had resigned himself to be the weakest. He slowly understands his old easy going attitude won't help him survive these difficult dungeons and situations as they can become liabilities.
In episode 9, it was revealed that he's losing more of his emotions as he gets stronger, becoming less human. And also how Baruka mentioned that he isn't human
I think you see more of Jinwoo's emotions outside the gate (in these incidents described in this video), which are necessarily cropped in the anime. Also, you see them in his relationship to his shadow army. They are not just automatons to him. He interacts with them, is affectionate, proud and treats many as individuals.
He literally says in the fight against the B-Rank guy from the association in Season 1 that another of his emotions died (in that case Anger). I feel it's hard to critisize him showing less emotions with that fact. Also, the association is trash. Even if they couldn't do anything against the older brother, not warning, or straight up denying people to join up with his group for gates, knowing they'd end up dead makes them complicit and the ones resonsible should have got what's coming to them.
I love this content (reacting to aninews) the only other channel i saw that did this was cawcawtv, and i love it when reacters are actually so invested and would love to know even more about the worlds that they are invested into. I would love to see more aninews reactions!
15:50 Anyone can walk in the gate awakened or not, also if you dont know technology like phones or cameras don't work inside the gate that's why people don't livestream or make videos in them.
@@Synthwalk could easily be explained if the gate itself causes an EMP or something of that sort to happen. the effects of the gate seem pretty electric looking so probably not far off the mark here
6:30 1 small correction, sung does care about not wanting to show off his power, atleast a very specific part because of what it could mean and its the arise (not the summoning, but the resurrection ability). anything else tho it doesnt really bother him when it comes to showcasing stuff im my memory is correct
16:10 You can become sick from mana if you are hypersensitive. Like Jinwoo mother. Awakening at least gives you the certainty that you will definitely be able to handle mana well.
15:25 You see. The Korean Hunter Association is a government institution. And bureaucracy sux. If I remember correctly the "portable measuring device" they brought along to measure Jinwoo in the hospital cost a really large sum of money. So the equipment to measure gates and perhaps the essence stones it requires cost sums beyond ridiculous. So yeah have fun writing reports and get a budget for such stuff. On your question if non hunters can enter gates. I think it comes up in a later arc, or better to say I remember that the answer to it was implied. Or I don't remember another moment where it was directly talked about.
I find S2 Episode 2 is especially interesting in terms of Jinwoos emotions, Because if you notice, he's stopped being as careful. He's no longer planning out every engagement, he leaps into battle at the enemies provocations rather than waiting for the enemy to come to him, he turns his back on his enemy, he no longer holds back from showing off his strength in front of others, He even steps up to an S rank at the end of the episode and essentially tells him to bugger off. Pre- Job change Jinwoo would have never.
some might say he's becoming too overconfident, setting himself up to get his ass beat in an arc coming up. Of course, who knows if that'll happen or not... (seriously no spoilers, I'm being literal when I say That's not something I'm sure of. Just the vibe.)
Something very interesting is that most of the content from Season 1 about Baek, Cha, and the other S ranks was entirely anime only, and the red gate incident at the beginning of season 2 is when we're first introduced to Baek in the Manhwa, and we'd only gotten a glimpse of Cha by this point (that scene in the beginning of season 1 where she stops the criminal and is chased by paparazzi). I don't think we'd ever seen any of the other S ranks, with them only being referred to in passing or just silhouettes in exposition. (i havent read the novels, so i dont know if some of those scenes were there)
I think a big part of Jin Woo’s attitude is him trying to avoid the Uncle Ben realization. Dude just wants to care for his people but the System and eventually his own power will force him into a spotlight he doesn’t want. He knows he’s got limited time to keep it on the downlow so it’s the mix of elation for the new power, anxiety for the future and sadness of knowing that he’s going to have to be responsible whenever he’s outed (as I assume it’s gonna happen soon, no way he keeps getting away with it).
SPOILERS now that you said that, I just realised we're definitely getting his reevaluation inthis season (due to the trailers) and now I can't wait for it
I said this in the previous video, but I believe you will love his deep dives into the floor guardians of Overlord. he really does a great job of explaining their powers, personalites and the players who created them.
In anime, a lot of things are cut out from manhwa and ranobe, especially dialogues and important explanations, so a lot of questions and confusion arise, and the person from the video explains it all clearly
Aninews is incredible. I commented as much on his video yesterday. I am quite happy you are choosing to expand your knowledge of a series you love and share it with your viewers. At the end of season 1 I was incredibly curious about the story. So I purchased all 8 novels from Audible and listened to them all within a week. Those 8 novels complete the entire story. Actually, 7.5 novels complete the story, with the final half-book being an extremely interesting addendum. There is a lot of extra information even Aninews doesn't cover. Some of that is because it would likely be spoilery to anime-onlies, and some involves things beyond what the anime even hints at. Regarding the story's character, there are elements of it in the anime, but in the books, you are clearly reading a litRPG (literary Role Playing Game). This has become a huge genre in the past 20 years, mixing game mechanics with a narrative story. For example, those quick popup windows the anime shows from the System are much more present and fully detailed in the novels. Some people hate that, but we litRPG lovers live for all the mechanics of how things work.
I hope you watch this for every episode, I will watch all of them with you it's so nice !!! I have read the manhwa but not the novel so it's still al little bit of extra infos and I think if you love solo leveling having more of those infos will let you love it even more !
AniNewsis one of the best channel there is if you want to know what was cut from an adaptation without spoilers. The guy goes so deep into details it's almost autistic in nature (by that, I mean most autists will get hyper focused and find every little details on what they get passionate about, not in a derogatory way, it's just how most of them are and the furter on the spectrum, the deeper their focus get.) He can take one scene in an episode and explain it for 5 minutes and make it extremely interesting, and while doing so, he won't spoil what will happen in the futur or, if it can't be helped, he will put a warning before hand. The guy got all my respect.
If you really like the show you can also read the Manhwa after each episode. It's very good visually and has a good flow, one of the reasons it got so popular. If you wish to give it a try season 2 starts at chapter 46
The anime is literally like condensing a hundred and 12 pages down to 22. Tons of extra world building put aside in the effort to tell the leanest version of the story possible. I wasn't the biggest fan of the webtoon because I dislike how the story is presented but I probably would have been a lot mroe excited for the novel, then again webnovels have a tendency to be very dialog heavy, doing a lot of "telling" rather than "showing." This video certainly changes the notion I had that the gate raised in level in reaction to Jinwoo's presence. I still think part of him is maybe not "emotionless" but certainly detached, which has a similar effect of him not seeming to care about things most people would.
2:43 I know that feeling man when i read manwha first i re read it 10 times and watched whole season 1 3 times! And watched 30+ reaction on solo leveling season 1! 😅 and currently I am playing Solo leveling arise game which is so good! ❤🔥
You should also watch aninews re zero cut content. There’s a lot of things that doesn’t make it in the anime so you’d have a better understanding of the story
Only Awakened Humans/Hunters can enter a closed gate. After seven days a gates seal will break. At that point a regular person could enter if they chose although that would be a terrible idea. This also means that any monsters inside the gate can enter into the human world.
I would have loved some videos like these for Overlord. I see a lot of comments saying so many things that the anime leaves out that were in the light novel
Eyo someone has to show him the sister leveling abridged video! would make a hilarious reaction video! GOT if u see this, HIGHLY recommended! I laughed so much xD
More AniNews reactions would be great. Especially with series like Mushoku Tensei that have so much cut from them. Or you could read the books on your own time, and then make videos about certain chapters and details that stood out to you.
Aninews has been a great channel for me to boost my enjoyment of the worlds of Re:Zero and Mushoku Tensei, and I was doing the same for Solo Leveling. What I will say is, if you're really into a world, getting this extra information goes a LONG ways. Like getting a better idea of how magic works in Re:Zero, and consequences that the anime just refuses to even mention from as far back as season 1. It's not just fitting it all in a season that's an issue, but it's also fitting it all in individual episodes, and pacing that might be thrown off if you try to move things around to keep it. But man, it can be frustrating some of the things they remove, and how much it changes the way you look at the world, characters, and major scenes in some of these more dense shows.
The cut content isnt worthless, but including it would usually screw up the pace in substantial ways and one of the best things about the anime is the pacing. I think theyre making the roght choices, generally speaking, on when and what to cut or add overall.
Funny, i read the Mangua and i love the details and coloured art, but it's missing music and animation, i'm happy i get to see both. if you want to know more, read it. If you just wanna sit down and enjoy the show, watch the anime.
I believe he did the same for Season 1. I don't think it makes sense to react to those now, but wouldn't hurt to watch them in your own time to backfill your knowledge about stuff a bit more.
The anime cuts a lot of small stuff unfortunately. They dont change the story as a whole too much, but all those details make it flow better and feel more complete. The anime is still really good though
Huh. I’ve read the manwha end to end several times and didn’t know almost any of this. The anime has almost everything the comic does. Not 100%, but close enough to give it a pass
The anime is still an adaption of the Manhwa and not the Novel. So making a video about "What they left out" and then just explaining things from the novel that doesn't even cover everthing of the episode isn't a video you need to watch in my opinion. Idk who recommended this to you >.< half of it is also information totally irrelevant also for the rest of the whole anime.
