Making a Wood Stool and Side Table with a Laser Cutter

- One of the projects that has been on my list for a while now is a wood stool that’s made with my Glowforge laser cutter. I’ve been intimidated to design and make this project because of its complexity. There are a lot of factors to consider such as proportions, overall size, comfort, and functionality.
To work within those factors and create a product that could be used in multiple ways, we’ll be designing a minimal wood stool and side table.

Wow amazing
Thank you!
Tim, I love your videos! They're well set up and I love seeing the process of design and problem solving throughout. On this stool, I really like that support cross in this one.
How many sheets did you end up using? And are you going to have these plans available on your etsy?
Thanks John! If my memory is correct, I believe it was a total of 6 sheets - the table top/seat was 4 sheets, but could be less depending on the type of laser cutter you’re using.
The support was definitely the component that took some time to brainstorm and design. I love how it matches the design of the stool.
I’m debating adding the design files to my Etsy. It’s a different and slightly difficult type of build, but I might add it for makers who are interested in giving it a shot!
Thanks for the height and weight info. I was wondering how it sit for long legs (6'3"!) and bigger folks.
Yes! I thought it was important to mention that information. The one thing I haven’t quite figured out is the max weight capacity, which is probably right around my weight at 200 lbs
9:00 your pieces could be used in Japandi decor
Do you think the 1/4 thick acrylic will work? I want to make my granddaughter chair set clear
No, I'd suggest sticking with plywood for this project. Acrylic would look beautiful, but the material will probably break.
@@Tim_Ung ok thank you
Will you put your design on your Etsy anytime soon? I’d love to make that chair for my granddaughters room
Yes, I'm working on an assembly guide for the project and should have it in my Etsy shop by this weekend. Thanks for asking!
Just added the file for this project to my Etsy shop. It comes with instructions. Here’s a link etsy.me/3rcgJ4N
@@Tim_Ung wonderful thank you so much
You’re very welcome just ordered the table, chair and tray. Hopefully next week I can make it. Thank you so much
