2014 Mazda6 vs Infiniti M35 Hybrid Technology Mashup Review

  • ( www.TFLcar.com ) The new 2014 Mazda6 and the Infiniti M35 Performance Hybrid do not compete for the same buyers. So why mash them up in a technology mashup review. Because the two Japanese sedans take completely different and distinct means to achieve the same goal. Both of these cars get about 30 MPG in combined fuel economy and both strive to be sporty performance sedans. The Mazda6 using Skyactive technology has taken the traditional combustion engine to the next level of development while the Infiniti M sedan uses a hybrid petroleum and electric drivetrain to achieve the same goal. So which one of these two cars is the better performance sedan. You'll have to watch this video to find out.

so many other things that were not mention in this head to head review are some of similar features both these cars have. Both have upgraded the options for a Bose audio system. Both have lane departure warning, adaptive cruise. I've been a fan of both Mazda 6, and Infiniti M cars. Can't go wrong with either choice.

Why wouldn't Mazda add turbo or something to boost the horsepower to 200 or more? It's incredibly sexy (finest in the segment) and yet not enough horsepower.

the only thing about this review, they should have used the Infiniti Q50 hybrid instead of Infiniti M35 hybrid. the Infiniti Q50 hybrid car is more same size of the Mazda 6 , and fuel economy numbers are about even with the Mazda 6.

I have the Mazda6, bought it, at this writing, 3 weeks ago. Right now, I get 33.4 MPG and have not had any situation where I felt I was underpowered. If you want to take curves at 80, well, get a car really designed to do that. I have taken curves with mine at 55, without any tire squeal. As for doing one at 80, time will tell.

I actually like the stock sound of the Mazda6. I saw people saying it was horrible but it sounds much better than most 4 cylinders. It has a deeper growl than most other 4 cylinders.
It is just such a good looking car for a midsize sedan in that price range, it is probably my favorite in the last few years at the very least.

Good video, its important to point out that SPORT model of the Mazda6 can be purchased for under $25,500 (US) after taxes (with good negotiation). This will include: leather seats, dual climate control, beautiful 19 inch wheels, bluetooth audio and a ton of other features. Grand Touring models are much more expensive, but the NAV system in the Mazda's is weak an unimpressive, so you can get a lot more value with the SPORT model if you are a penny pincher like me.

I have the mazda6 with I-E loop regenerative braking getting 44mpg on highway. The top of the line has a sport mode switch that increases hp not a rocketship by any means but they left that out or didn't know it. I suppose next he will compare it with F150 and explain why it can not haul as much. "Point to Ford."

The Mazda6 is intermediate segment territory. (ie. Maxima) There are no bad new cars out there, just different perceptions of what a car should be. Drive one. Then decide.

I don't know what possessed Infinity to start designing their cars and SUVs to look like large marine mammals. Besides the G37 coupe, all their cars are hideous, and it really begs the question, why do people continue to buy Infinity when Volvo, Lexus, and Acura exist?

Should have used the Mazda 6 GT with IELOOP in comparison. 40 mpg highway. It's a lot quicker than this guy says. Sport mode with paddle shifters is pretty fun!! The point is that hybrids are a bunch of expansive crap that can be beaten by conventional gas. Can't wait for the Mazda 6 Diesel that is on its way.

  • @JimF1981

If the Mazda has a manual parking brake then burnouts should be real simple. The Infiniti should also be kind of easy with that much torque. Just modulate the brake pedal and floor the gas.

13:1 in the states 14:1 in euro. It uses regular 87 octane. Higher compression make a more complete burn of fuel getting better mpg and decent hp. Reason why all skyactiv model coming out have best in class mpg. Mazda has animation on what skyactiv is on youtube it short and interesting.

As for this comparison, maybe you should have done a, say, Malibu against the Mazda or get a comparable Cadillac or Lincoln product against the Infiniti. most cars today make it like that. it so if you were driving and you need to press the brakes but the engine kept on revving the brakes would over power the gas petal. This is the most simplest way i could put it.

Oh you're right it is spelled Infiniti, I guess I've had such little interest for so long that I forgot the correct spelling. As I said all but the G37 couple look like large marine animals, the fact that you have Infiniti in your screen name hints at your ability to be objective about the brand. FWIW I used to like Infiniti. As far as Volvo goes, apparently you haven't been in one in the last 15 years. Volvo is as luxurious and sporty as any Infiniti, they also have the benefit of nice styling.
