Infiniti had a renaissance in 2007 with the introduction of the updated G37. All the "experts" were putting it at the head of it's class, and it really was. They definitely gave you the most bang for your buck back then, and the interior was on par with it's competitors at the time. Add that with the upcoming coupe version, the larger M series, and the futuristic FX crossovers, and Infiniti looked like a potent competitor to Lexus and the German rivals. But sadly, Infiniti never built upon their resurgence and they let their interiors become outdated and stale. A real shame, but it seems that Genesis has picked up where Infiniti had left off. They just need their own stand alone dealerships to distance themselves from their Hyundai counterparts.

Infiniti cars are built off of GTR DNA so as far as I recall, up until 2018, nothing on the road was faster in ICE configuration. The only car at that time which could give it a run was a Tesla... Infiniti stayed fresh until electric began to take over... they didn't have to change cuz for those who knew they were reliable and exceptional.

When I bought my car about a year ago, it was between an Infiniti Q50 and a Lexus GS350. I got the Lexus since I really liked the luxury features, and Q50s never had cooled/ventilated seats, even though the 3.7 (2014-2015) was faster.
I work at an Infiniti dealership as a service tech so I know the common problems, too. The earlier models usually suffer from valve body problems (sometimes shown as a speed sensor code). And over time interior pieces, mainly the chrome window switches and sometimes the fake leather in the base models, like to wear.
Dual screen and tech is far worse than Lexus (though they're catching up nowadays). Screens aren't very responsive and fun to use at times.
It's probably weird for an Infiniti tech to be driving a Lexus, but I drive Infinitis all day and wanted something different and slightly more reliable for my commute.

Lol - but you probably don't work on enough Lexus vehicles to know all the problems with Lexus! I just bought a Lexus RX and it's the worse vehicle I've ever owned! Knock sensors were bad so it didn't shift into overdrive - cost me $2k to fix! And 2 days later after getting it back from the shop, the problem still persists! So back at the shop AGAIN! I know another Lexus owner - same problem. Hers was such a headache that she gave up on fixing it so she just drives it around town and avoids the highway. It's very common with their V6 engines - do some research. They are poorly designed vehicles. Never buying Lexus or Toyota again!
On the other hand I have an Infiniti G37 as my fun car. Over 250k miles on it and no problems, and I'm rough with it and do lots of drifting. Infiniti is way better than Lexus!

Nissan/Infiniti problems started when they merged with mediocre Renault, and started interchanging parts. Here is South Africa Infiniti played suicide by pushing their diesel tech and was a fatal straw as they are discontinued here. Lexus, although not so popular, they still roam our streets. Have a scarce GS450H F-SPORT (a true performance hybrid to date) and not a single problem. Great vid, as Always

Nissan's V6s feel alive. Toyata's engines feel like "just getting by". They usually feel lackluster/bland. The Lexus & Infiniti brands are definitely a step up in luxury. Just keep away from the Nissan/Infiniti CVT if you want reliability. The problem is there are too many of these cars on the road (along with Acuras & Hondas), and that gets boring. It's the same thing in Europe when you see mostly BMWs, Mercedes, Audis and Porsches. It's nice to look at them, of course, but it quickly get old to see a sea of them... and these brands use to have more prestige to them, but they've become common cars out there which means little anymore. Even in the ghettos here in the States they're driving around in Cadillacs and Mercedes, etc., so basically any schmuck can get his hands on one.
That's one of the reasons why my wife drives a Genesis G80 (1st-gen.) since it's a great all-around car. It's a little luxurious (but not so grandioso in a flashy way); very reliable so far with nearly 100k on it; it has a 311hp NA V6 with AWD; and the best part is that there aren't too many of them on the road which is nice. Between the mundane and the conspicuous out there, it fits right in as a more subtle luxury brand... although the new models now seem more avant-garde in styling and appear more Aston Martin-ish.
Any way, for a CPO from the last 3 years, I think they're one of the best bangs for the buck.

People have to realize that aside from great engineering and quality control Toyota/Lexus will rarely ( if ever ) stress the engine. 100 hp per liter is the stress point in an engine, Toyota always designs their engines at 70 to 80 hp per litre of displacement. Always under stressed.

I also have owned a Lexus RX. Was wildly unreliable. Constant oil leaks, burned coolant like crazy, random evap codes. Horrible knock sensor glitch that wouldn’t let overdrive kick in. Also just a terrible engine layout always in these cars with the drive belt pressed up towards the wheel and the intake manifold covering the entire back half of the engine bay. Lol, I just bought a Lexus and so far it's the least reliable car I've ever had! It's spent more time in the shop than I have driving it! I had to dump $2000 into fixing it. And now 2 days later after getting it back from the shop, the problems still persist, so now back in the shop again! It's the biggest headache that I've ever had with a vehicle and an endless money pit.
On the other hand, I have an Infiniti G37 and its the best car I've ever owned - 250k miles on it and no problems.

    • @Rightly_Divided
      @Rightly_Divided 2 роки тому

@stolenelection You should do some more extensive research. I have seen mixed feelings. What makes sense to me is that things fail after a certain point. Do you ever change your oil regularly? Why do you? Oil get dirty. You should chage oils and fluids. The Lexus has a closed sealed system and some weird positioning when inserting fluid. Most of the time a mechanic will only do a 20% change. However I have heard that it is recommended a lot despite having a lifetime transmission fluid rating.

Excellent, ive never owned a cvt and would never buy one, infinits non cvt trannies are great, id rate the transmissions in my q50 and q60 as the best ive driven, downshifts are crisp in sport mode and it always has you in the right gear to accelerate out of a corner. @@ECPP

Infiniti was a favorite brand of mine and made really good cars in the late 90's through early 2010's. However, as Lexus/Toyota have made consistent quality, Nissan/Infiniti has fallen off a cliff. I hope the 2022 QX60 is an insight of good things to come from infiniti. The ZF 9 speed is thankfully replacing the CVT.

if you own a QX60 you have a rebadged Pathfinder... pretty much every other Infiniti has a non CVT... you don't really know what you're saying ... falling off a cliff is your credibility

@@plainpawesome I don't, and we already know it's a badge engineered CUV. 2nd I've owned G35's and worked on them, so I know exactly what I'm taking about. My point is Nissan's build quality and reliability, in particular with the Infiniti name plate had slipped over the years, and building the rebadged Pathfinder with a 9 SPD instead of a CVT was a step moving back in the right direction. Next time read AND comprehend.

    Lets see.
We owned everything from Chevy to Benz to Nissan to Honda to Toyota/Lexus to now a Tesla.
From all the cars I have owned, 02 3.5L V6 Maxima had the lowest maintenance for me followed by Tesla Y. And my highest maintenance was the 08 Lexus LS sedan (12k spent on replacing every 100k miles, trans fluid every 30k and the super thirsty 10 Quartz oil change every 5k miles). Maintenance higher than ALL other cars we owned COMBINED.
Now we have a 21 Infiniti QX80 (142 mph top speed, bullet proof V8, real non cvt transmission, etc)

i had q50 .30t and theres plenty issue on the motor and turbo. turbo goes out 50k-90k miles randomly and theres are some lemons that goes out around 20k miles on the car.

I was in California and a mechanic there said every week Q50 and 60 turbos being done. They're gonna go eventually. I'm surprised on the motor. Anyway, Q50 is a tremendous value for what ur paying. It's japanese and u roll the dice, hoping it won't be too too bad. It's a blast to drive too. Who cares about infotainment

Really should have done a Acura vs Infiniti…
Side note: yes the is250 is by far the most pointless v6 EVER…! They should have made the is250 a 4Bangger GDI that actually gave you good fuel efficiency (& maybe as a coupe option)

Whenever you see a car with a small V6 2.5L- 2.8L it's in there for smoothness but not power. They could have made it a 4 banger but it would not have been as smooth as the V6

Lexus is statistically the most reliable car manufacturer. I owned a 2008 G37 and 2004 G35. I never experienced any of the problems from this video. The G37 was new and it did not have one problem. Infiniti's switch to turbocharged engines will lower long term reliability. No car manufacturer will outperform Toyota/Lexus in reliability statistics.
