Thanks for sharing your thought on this K685 dynamic microphone! Um, to be honest, we're surprised that we can be put into the battlefield with the Rode. Though I think that's mainly because of the price reason of this mic lol. But with the code counted in, the price will fall in the more decent range that you suggest around $80. The reason why it includes a plastic shock mount is that first off, still the price. The final price of this mic is around $80-100$, if the shock mount is metal, then the normal $20 arm stand may not hold the mic and customers have to up their budget for the accessories to around $50, which makes the whole setup $130-$150. People with that sort of budget is not what we aim for, since as you expect that they will just go for the Rode. Next, it's about logistics. Unlike the well-known companies that have their local warehouse, which eases their shipping cost, while we have to rely on Amazon logistics. And that makes us extremely careful about the shipping size and weight, otherwise, the cost will increase immensely. It's also the dilemma that faces most global Amazon sellers particularly in 2021. But we will definitely take your suggestion to up the game, like selling the mic and the shock mount separately, then we can make the accessories more sturdy and actually out of metal. And thanks again for such an in-depth review and your suggestion to get this mic better. Appreciated!

This is a phenomenal review, but I do actually have some disagreements on a couple of things. The pricepoint actually impressed me, solely due to this being a dynamic microphone. A lot of Twitch streamers or gamers are specifically looking for something with good noise isolation that won't pick up the sound of the keyboard, so similarly priced condenser mics are less likely to be considered by people specifically looking for dynamic microphones.
This is extremely impressive when you realize it's powered by USB-C. This isn't even an alternative to Shure SM7B, it just blows it straight out of the water (1/6 of the price with all the extras needed to setup a SM7B). Not only that but the new K688 has USB/XLR alternative within a single product and it's 20$ cheaper. I've been a Fifine brand fan for a long time, I've always felt they hit the nail on quality/profit margin, these guys make microphones for the common people, I've seen more and more people using their microphones and it doesn't surprise me because they are awesome and deserve a bigger stake in the microphone industry for what they provide at the price tag they provide.
Fantastic review. These are my criteria when judging a microphone: 1. Sound quality. 2. Sound rejection (depends on how you want to manage that, of course) 3. Mute button. If any of those are of poor quality or, in the case of the mute button, missing ... the microphone fails the spec. So many microphones (and I am not including handheld performance mics in this) just don't have a simple mute button. 4. Build quality (this ranges widely of course) #4 is separate from the first three and is not cut-and-dry. Each mic has its pluses and minuses. Any mic arm will fit this mic. The shockmount uses 100% industry standard fittings so no problem there. There are so many out there, it would be impossible to recommend one. All I would say is avoid the cheapest. A mic arm is something that probably gets moved around every day. It has to be built to last. Sounds like a noise gate to me. So the gate will close when your voice drops below a certain threshold level and only open again when you speak. It can sound 'pumping' when set wrong. These are used as standard in any kind of noise reduction or background noise elimination. Check the settings for something like that.
I was choosing between this And Audio Techinica Atr 2500x Struggle to choose which to pick Usually using for Vocal recording & normal gaming use Any recommendations?
Hi KianHow NG, to be honest, compared with the ATR 2500x, the K658 is less suited for vocal recording. But for gaming, it's much better to choose a dynamic mic. We're not saying that the K658 is the best one for less than $100, but it's on the advantage on the comparison with the ATR 2500x. So basically, vocal recording and gaming require different characters of microphones. That means it's hard to find one that can balance those two applications.

Hi jamesandmichelle, if you plan to use one mic in your case, I'm afraid that it's hard to find a perfect solution. We would recommend equipping two mics for both you and your wife.

Thank you so much for doing such a great ASMR review video! Your voice is really comfortable and relaxing. As for the buzzing, it comes from electromagnetic interference, which is generated in a few K658 that use 8-pin MCU. Those ICs light up the RGB with the electricity flows, thus it is more susceptible to interference. We apologize for the quality control issue, but it is indeed a special phenomenon. We will take a more restricted quality control procedure to avoid such an issue.

Though these two mics mainly aim at streaming audiecne, they're actually quite different. If your main concern is noises, then go for the K658. @@lamontd7886 The K658 is designed for gaming or streaming, so it pick up almost no background noise (Keyboard, fan ,etc). A gaming headset is okay, but the sound quality may not be the same as the microphone. And wearing a headset is not a gerenal solution for streaming I guess. It depends on you.
Different type of mic entirely so it really depends what you want. End address mics are great for use on camera because they are less intrusive in the shot. They’re just neater. Also, this is a dynamic mic so it has a different sound and frequency response than a condenser mic. So, in summary, this for gaming, streaming or broadcast. The Yeti for vocals, instruments or podcast. Just my opinion. Others may disagree 👍🏻
To be honest, apart from the original price that are set at similar level, these two are the completely different mic. Blue Yeti is more of a all-rounder, which fits in almost all applications, but it just doesn't do an excellet on a specific use scenario. If you use a mic for recording, streaming, voice-recognition and conferencing calls, Yeti is one of the best choices (but we also have the K690 that aims to compete with Yeti in a much lower price). But if you just want one of the best mic in one or two applications, then the K658 is for you. For streaming, it isolates almost all noticeable background and keyboard sound. For podcasting, it give you the warm and deep sound. Both tone that Yeti can't give you.
@@MARS-eb8pt If you don't mind the difficulty of setting up two USB mics, the K670 is a good budget choice among the FIFINE models. You can also consider just getting a stereo mic to record ASMR, then the K690 is the one for you.
Yes. It has a pretty nice 'broadcast' type sound. I was pleasantly surprised. It's a bit picky about positioning but you could sort that out with some degree of mic processing / compression in the edit.
When Sennheiser released the MK 4 USB, they used a slightly more robust method of securing the USB. Industrial USB is a thing. I wish manufacturers would use it. Alternatively, with USB mics being so heavily used now, release a fully locking robust LEMO style connector to carry the USB data. Maybe it already exists but it unlikely to be used because anyone paying £500+ for a mic would never be buying a USB mic and cheaper variants could not justify the cost. Oh well!
I know it sounds predictable but Sennheiser / Neumann without a doubt (Sennheiser own Neumann for anyone who wasn't aware of that). Beautifully made, superb sound and industry renowned with good reason.
🙂 Mics definitely take design and style cues from the big players. Some of it purely because it’s logically the best design but sometimes because it sells product.

All I would say is avoid the cheapest. A mic arm is something that probably gets moved around every day. It has to be built to last. I would budget between £30-50 for this and avoid the £15-20 variants. Just my opinion.
@@tdcattech ok ty
Yes, you can take the stand off and hook it to the boom arm stand coming with the 3/8'' to 5/8'' adapter.
Can anyone help me? I recently bought a microphone that came withe a soundcard but when i record myself the voice isnt stable... it's like my voice fades in and out word after word.... the soundcard has many buttons like truble, bass, record, music, monitor, elimination, shock wave, mc and dodge... can anyone help me out?
Sounds like a noise gate to me. So the gate will close when your voice drops below a certain threshold level and only open again when you speak. It can sound 'pumping' when set wrong. These are used as standard in any kind of noise reduction or background noise elimination. Check the settings for something like that.
I was choosing between this And Audio Techinica Atr 2500x
Struggle to choose which to pick
Usually using for Vocal recording & normal gaming use
Any recommendations?
Hi KianHow NG, to be honest, compared with the ATR 2500x, the K658 is less suited for vocal recording. But for gaming, it's much better to choose a dynamic mic. We're not saying that the K658 is the best one for less than $100, but it's on the advantage on the comparison with the ATR 2500x. So basically, vocal recording and gaming require different characters of microphones. That means it's hard to find one that can balance those two applications.
Can you take off the shock mount and still mount it on a boom arm?
Hi nut, I'm afraid no, you have to use the mic with the shock mount on an arm stand.
I am using the blue yeti at the moment, but I think I will switch to fifine k658. Do you think is it worth to switch?
Not if you're expecting better audio quality. If the design of the mic suits you better (end address can be very handy sometimes) then go for it!
@@tdcattech I like the design more and the audio quality is still good with fifine k658.
Audio quality is great. Not better but a little different (more of a radio / broadcast sound).
@@tdcattech I would say both of the mics are good in different way. Thank you for responds!
@@tdcattech Best USB microphone for Podcasters?
Thanks for reply!
I currently use the fifine k658 dynamic microphone
hello! thanks for making this video :) im searching for a mic which i can make asmr video of gardening processes, such as the sound of water and rocks. if i need the mic to capture the sounds of my objects/actions but yet the mic can't be in the frame(i intend to suspend it above), then this is not suitable right? since you mentioned it's more suitable for capturing voices up close. looking forward for your advice, thank you!
Not the mic for that. This is a dynamic mic. Less sensitive and a reduced frequency response. I would go with a condenser mic for that type of work.
Can you suggest a podcast mic for macOS montery?
What’s wrong with this one?
im sooooooooooooooooooooo happpppppppppppppppyy with my new miccccccccccccccc its soundsssssss soooooo goooood
What boom arm are you using with it?
It’s one from the m!ka product line from Yellowtec - geni.us/mika
Do you have any issue with the mic having a buzzing sound on relatively high gain/volume?? I really wanna get this mic, but I'm kinda worried abt that particular issue.. Cause I saw some people complain abt their unit regarding it
Mine does this. Has a buzzing sound unless I use barley any gain
@@SOCOMJOHN is that the K658 ?
@@MissMan666 yes
Hey quick question does it come with a boom arm?
No. Just the mount. 👍🏻
@@tdcattech ok what boom arm do you recommend
@@demarcuscousinsthe3rd424 Any standard arm stand will work perfectly fine with the K658.
This looks like it would be perfect however we have a situation we have faced for a long time now, wife and i stream side by side, about 5 feet away from each other, how well is this for eliminating sound further aways from the mics, reducing or removing echoing from each other?
Hi jamesandmichelle, if you plan to use one mic in your case, I'm afraid that it's hard to find a perfect solution. We would recommend equipping two mics for both you and your wife.
@@FIFINE Yeah with our twitch set up its pretty bad quality using 1 mic, still trying to figure out if there will be too much background noise to pick up from each other, hard to tell until you actually bring the mics into play. Our current are behringer xm1800s and they use xlr to connect. Never really thought about going back to a usb mic. We do hear great things about the fifine mic though and if we end up getting them, will certainly give a great review to our streamers.
what do you thing about Superlux D421U?? i thinking about to buy it but i cant find video on it. Plssss help
I haven't heard of it. Like you, I did a quick check and can find very little about it, including no specs whatsoever. Why do you want to buy this mic when you can't hear it or find reviews on it? Any reason? There are probably better choices out there.
this mic or hyper x quad cast s
this
Hi Hampzo, if you're not a big fan of HyperX and you want to try on a new brand, and most importantly, the environmental noise is your first concern, then this K658 is definitely a better-suited choice.
@@FIFINE i got it it is amazing
@@HamptonWoodruff Thank you very much for the support! And the feedback!
@@FIFINE Any suggestions or tips for better audio? I just bought this microphone.
some youtubers says it has hiss noise, does yours have too?
Hi M T, somehow our comment didn't appear on Anzel's video. And we remembered that we have answered your question. But just in case other viewers see your comment and want to know the answer.
All the K658 on the market where our official stores running now shall not cause any EMI from itself! Btw, any viewers who got the K658 with EMI buzzing noises can email us at web@fifine.cc Our after-sales support will put it into the first place to help fix the issue.
@@FIFINE mine buzzes also, I am forced to use Noise Gate via obs because Noise Supression doesn't work. I love the microphone and managed to make it sound nice. But I do have buzzing/hissing if I don't use Noise gate
@@SOCOMJOHN Did you turn the volume too high? There will be noise if you turn the volume too high. If not, it might be the problem with the mic. Please contact our after-sales support at web@fifine.cc with your order number. We will help you to identify the problem and fix it. Your K658 should be covered by the warranty if you bought it from the official source.
Would you recommend this or a hyperx quadcast?
Get the K658 it’s cheaper and probably sound the same or better than the quadcast.
Though these two mics mainly aim at streaming audiecne, they're actually quite different. If your main concern is noises, then go for the K658. Its noise-rejection is in its own league when compared to condenser mic. Both HyperX Quadcast X and S are pretty balanced microphone. So if you care not about the background sound and don't want the warm sound, those two HyperX mics are better suited choices.
@@FIFINE I bought this mic and it showed up today and I'm having fun messing around with it. It's pretty cool to see you recommending stuff that isn't produced by you and makes me more confident in my purchase.
@@glennniles8483 Hi Glenn, thank you very much for the purchase. Lol, actually we're the official FIFINE manufacturer on UA-cam. So this K658 model is produced and sold by us. But anyway, glad that it's a satisfactory purchase! And it will work great for you for a long time!
What microphone stand I can use for that Microphone
Any mic stand you like really. They all have standard fittings.
Do it pick up alot of background noises
It doesn’t have any onboard noise reduction (your software will do that) but, as a dynamic mic, it’s pretty good like that. It requires you to be next to the mic to use effectively.
@@tdcattech I was going use it as a gaming mic / streaming mic I wanted to no if I use. As a gaming mic will my team mates here everything or do I need to get a gaming headset
It depends on you.
this vs a blue yeti?
@@FIFINE I ended up going for the Fifine, love it. Been thinking of buying two K670 to record stereo and start an ASMR channel
@@tdcattech Thank you for the response! I got the Fifine in the end!
@@MARS-eb8pt If you don't mind the difficulty of setting up two USB mics, the K670 is a good budget choice among the FIFINE models. You can also consider just getting a stereo mic to record ASMR, then the K690 is the one for you.
Please bring it to Germany
Not sure why Fifine aren't going wider with this one. I'm pretty certain it would sell well so there must be another reason.
Nice Mic!!!OMG!
Yes. Definitely worth a look.
The RGB gives you better sound quality
🤣 It absolutely does!
True!
I like it . It' has a "nice sound on my phone . Sounds ...HQ . like a Shure . Bit overpriced
Yes. It has a pretty nice 'broadcast' type sound. I was pleasantly surprised. It's a bit picky about positioning but you could sort that out with some degree of mic processing / compression in the edit.
@@tdcattech yeah. Not sure about those usb connections...they always look flimsy
Oh well!
@@tdcattech what is , in your opinion the best Microphone for sound quality , build Quality and ports . ( Brands . ) any one Know ?? Thanks TD 🙋
I know it sounds predictable but Sennheiser / Neumann without a doubt (Sennheiser own Neumann for anyone who wasn't aware of that). Beautifully made, superb sound and industry renowned with good reason.
How is this mic copying any mic? Haha it’s 100% it’s own thing
🙂 Mics definitely take design and style cues from the big players. Some of it purely because it’s logically the best design but sometimes because it sells product.
@@tdcattech sorry but you could say the same thing about 90% of the mics out there. mics look alike simply because of the mechanics involved. form follows function. its like saying one airplane copied another airplane design haha. well duh...because it works. you aren't going to make an airplane out of stone and make all the aerodynamic parts out of box shaped panels.
True in many cases but think of earbuds and how many manufacturers happen to make products that look almost identical to AirPods. 🤔
@@tdcattech again...form follows function. its like saying headphone companies copy each other because headphones are designed to go around and over the ears...still....dont see the point. its like saying "omg, can you believe BMW copied mercedes with 19 inch wheels that come with Michelin pilot super sport tires on them from the factory?!" a wheel is a wheel and a mic is a mic. depending on the mics function it will generally follow the same form. this is why musical performance mics generally look the same and studio mics generally look the same. people want mics to look like mics....not a lamp or a shoe.
I'm talking about design intricacies here, not general form. I honestly feel we're both right here. 👍🏻
