Why Are China And India So Populated

- There is an error with the Indian map. Apologies for this.
How did China and India become the most populated countries on Earth. Outnumbering every other country by a billion. In this video I look at why are China and India so populated by analysing their geography and history.
The information in the video is meant to be informative and entertaining. It is entirely based on research conducted by myself. If you would like a more in-depth answer I would recommend researching more by yourself.

So India and China got huge because they got the easy spawn points...
with a lot more starting natural resources
imagine bacteria in a dish. give it all it needs and then come back later waht will happen.
Yes, exactly. If it would be like in Aoe series, they would start near every ressources with huge amount, including water (fishing). Thats why Japan, as an asian country doesn't have a superpopulation
Knowing Better pls nerf
Yup
Plus India ( I guess China too) never went and colonized other countries and sent hoards of citixens there. If you count all the Caucasians across Europe, Americas, Australias, South Africa and so on. I don't think it will be much less than the population of China or India
Great comment. I actually had a point about this in the first draft of the video but had to cut it due to time restraints. But you are correct, colonisation did drain some Western populations. Not a massive amount but it is considerable.
Caucasian doesn't mean white! It refers to skull shape. The vast majority of Indian population would be considered Caucasoid. Only around the north east regions the population is Mongoloid. Indians look like dark skinned Europeans. Pick up an anatomy book for Pete's sake! India contains all the ydna found in Europe with much more diversity than in Europe!
MHCE444 Don't go over semantics...you know she means "white" europeans.
First of all "Caucasians" can also refer to Indians, and even Ethiopians, and Somali people so the term you might be looking for is "European", and second of all, all White-Europeans globally (Europe, North-, and South-America, Oceania, South-Africa, Etc.) would only make up 17% of the global population, well below either China or India.
Usecriticalthinking Indians are not from the west. I think that the word you are looking for, but have sadly forgotten, is "dark tan" or "light brown".
I double-checked my playback speed, thought it was playing at 1.5x
Lol true 😂

The Mughals and Delhi Sultanate already did that. China overtook us by the time the Marathas won and later the British arrived.

Maybe another point can be made that since India and China were advanced economies in past they did have a better healthcare system. For Ex: Ayurveda which is an ancient medicinal doctrine were widely practiced and is still a major source of medicine for many people in India and China.
DUSHYANT SHUKLA. That's a very good point and I will look into that. Thank you for your interesting comment :D
DUSHYANT SHUKLA also India and China had all the resources to make all natural medicines
you can see about bodhidharma who taught chinese about medicine and kungfu. He is famous in china but not in India
Wrong!! If you check historical world demographics civilization around Ganges and Yellow have always boomed. There was never a time in history when there was any major decline in population growth in these regions.
Not really. Counterparts to Ayurveda were present in other cultures too. For example, Ayurveda had the concept of kapha, pitta and vaata. The West had the four humours. Ayurveda was probably only the more advanced medical science of the time, if it was more advanced. Besides, there was a lot of trade and communication between cultures, Silk Road and all. So cultural exchanges were happening. Eurasia is one land mass, after all.
You forgot the Northeast region of India which contains 45,587,982 people.

idiot that was very smart actually, India and china has so many peoples cuz they had some advantage and cuz the rest of the world screwd up and were screwd by disease. It's not about India its about Hindustan that managed very well, and the big population isn't cuz of what happened last 100 years but a couple hundred of years, so India then was a bigger India than now. Of those 3 country India is the biggest so therefore India is 1/6 of the world in terms of population, but Pakistan and Bangladesh are also very very packed, and it's not cuz of great economy and therefore people all over the world go there like in Europe who also has some great density, they are very dense and with a lot of lads for the same reason as India, so they are 1 in a way. And I think its good that he didn't talked about it and just showed a map, cuz we as the viewer can realize, that Pakistan and Bangladesh also have to much peoples vs rest of the world, and that cuz the 3 of them were 1, for 1000 of years!

The pace seems rushed even for a native speaker. There is great potential with the content, but the seeming speed read of the script takes away from the gravitas of the words. Some variation in the pace will bring more punch to the message and not make it sound like you just want to get it all over with. Keep up the good work!!

What was your research topic?
@@bhumikaarora8267 In first year I had a subject about environment and ecology and another about using a tool to measure distance using inclination I think, so those have some definition which piqued my interest also I had question about China reclaiming land and USA is extremely big still had less people compared to India, the "research" part was somehow able to find why behind both also a quote from gandhi that land has enough resources for everyone if property distributed and I wanted to debunk over population myth since based on my observations at that time most of the land I saw travelling by bus or train was uninhibited by humans, all that lead me to this conclusion, many details are blurry since its been almost 8 years, I was just extremely curious at that time, I also remember writing an article about the same on quora or medium and one of my website, won't call it formal research thought

Cogito - Curiosity Visualised I saw it too , but I don't know what nukes you're talking . What are these nuclear conspiracies about Gandhi all about?
+susmita mohapatra these jokes about Gandhi and nukes come from civ 1. They had a rating for every civ's belligerence, from 1 to 10. India's was low. And, after reaching the next era, it was reduced by 1. They made a mistake, though. When Gandhi reached the last era, he already had a rating of 1. So, the computer reset it to 10. So, whenever Gandhi was in the last era, he was extremely aggressive. And, we all know what civs possess in the last era. Nukes. After that, they made Gandhi nuke-happy on purpose, in all civ sequels.
It comes from a video game - Civilization.

The earliest populations were in Mesopotamia and Egypt, but as you also state, these were along rivers in the middle of sandy desert environments.
Yeah it's a topic that I always wondered about myself and just assumed it was either a very recent thing, like a boom in the 20th century. Or because of how old they were. It's interesting how after the Chin dynasty fell eventually China was reorganized, but after Rome fell Europe was never that cohesive again, even though the Romans had made just as many incentives for societal cohesion as in China and India.
Well India and china were exactly cohesive until the 50s nor are they now. they had 4 things going for them.
1) fresh water
2) Arable land
3) access to other nations (help spread technologies faster)
4) natural defenses.
as for the great crop ... that's a given, when you have literally thousands of villages in early stone age, you have a very wide selection of crops to choose from, the one with the best results will spread.
people did plant herbs and trees and what's not, but each nation had its main crop that spread, like potato, cabbage, rice, wheat, barley, corn etc..... and there are even 2 lost crops in the Americas that went extinct...
still, these areas provided major quantity of lives (large number of people), but the average quality of life is not that great, India is doing slightly better than sub-Saharan Africa, and China is comparable to Latin America, these nations have big economies and military power because of their numbers, but GDP per capita is low.
I would like to know tho, why did most religious Ideas come from the middle east ?
I am not just talking about the current Abrahimic ones (Islam - Christianity - Judaism - Baha'ism etc...) but even the earliest forms of Monotheism (Atenism - Zoroasterism) and pretty much the whole pantheon system came from the pantheons of Egypt, Sumer, and Phoenicia.
Its better to say oldest religion come from south east asia..........
Wherever civilisations develop, religion and culture develop aswell. Given how messopatamia housed one of the first civilisations and cities, it makes sense for religions to stem from there as it was one of the first times people turned from a survivalist lifestyle to agricultural, social lifestyle. (Besides the indus civilisations which already had religions far before the middle east)
@@kashitakhalate9116 how?
Only the vastly practiced Religions like Christianity and Islam in modern times are from middle east, all others you mentioned are either extinct or in very small minority
India aswel is Birthplace of many religions example Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Hinduism alone is as much diverse as all Abrahamic religions with dozens of gods and religious books.
The reason Middle Eastern religions are more popular today is because of their expansionist idea as Islam got popular through invasions by Early Muslim in Caliphates and Christianity through Disciples and Roman Emperors, later missionariesnlike Dharmic religions who didn't focused much on expansion.
Another reason could be that Middle East is much more diverse and isolated than other civilizations unlike India and China thus came up with different religions suitable for their cultures, Example Christianity and Judaism from Levant region, Atenism from Egypt, Islam from Arabia and Zoroastrianism from Persia which were all distinct regions both geographically and Culturally.
For China it did not have a religion culture but rather more of philosophies example Taoism, Confucianism and Etc, Europe did had many Pagan religions similar to Vedic Hinduism but they Christianity took over them.
I appreciate the Aoe2 town center graphic.
From your videos you're clearly interested in world geography and history, but also Asian culture and history, which was sidelined/ignored by europeans for most of the last century.

Usually I need to speed videos up because people speak slowly, so when I played this video I thought I still had the setting on high speed 😳
Maybe consider a background track that 1)stays in the background, 2) doesn't have a pronounced drumbeat. The reason for 1) is obvious though I'll give that different people have different tolerances for filtering sound. To me it doesn't cut over the narration, but by having a distinct melodic soundscape it tugs at my attention in a way so I have a hard time staying focused on the narration. 2) is more subtle in that it sets a rythm to watching, again to me subjectively it has the effect that the effort of focusing my attention on the narration leaves me feeling slightly winded and stressed out. To be true, at 3:48, where I paused the vid to write this comment, the only thing I know was in it, was something with all easily accesible rivers being in south and southeast asia. All the other info given at this point have mostly gone unregistered. I'm just thinking, considering both the effort put into creating the vid, and the time I spend watching it, it's a shame if it just amounts to 6-7 minutes of flickering colour on a computerscreen.
1:00 it's wrong, amazon is the largest river in the world!!!! rio amazonas é o maior!
Wikipedia: The Amazon River in South America is the largest river by discharge volume of water in the world,
Nile is the longest river while Amazon is the largest river in terms of volume of water
