Kim adjusts those same earrings in an earlier episode. I think she pointed the arrow downward, just before a legal meeting. Power move.
she wears them throughout the show. They're REALLY important to her, which intensifies the gravity of that opening scene and what it means to her as a character.

I don’t know if this is a connection or not but, when Howard tells his wife he’s gonna ‘put an end to it, whatever it takes’ and she says ‘duly noted’ and completely blew him off. Exactly the thing Howard says to Kim when she was vouching for Jimmy in season 1 episode 9. Howard’s probably said that at home before too.
Wow Howard rly passing down those phrases from his own source of negativity.
His wife must say that to him often and he took it out on Kim.

the guy with the ax is the one who confronts mike and tells him "he was worth more than any of you" when they were leaving, possibly the closest and the one who most appreciated werner ziegler of his workers, and for that appreciation and respect he sent him a gift to his widow, which ended up being a clue that led to his possible death. ironic and sad.

The first mediation was happening in D-Day so they can't just postpone D-Day because god knows when the second mediation will happen as we saw the law suit is already dragged out for too long now. So the D-Day needs to happen in the day of the mediation! For their plan to succeed.

Y'all I felt SOOO bad for Howard in this episode. Just that scene w/ his wife and fuck man he's just tryin' so hard.
The Normies seemed to be saying that the first scene was a "scam" that Kim's mom made Kim do, but if so, what was the scam? All they got was a pair of earrings that Kim's mom clearly could have shoplifted any time she wanted to without Kim's help. No, I think Kim genuinely went into that store that day on her own volition and tried to shoplift those things. She may have wanted to get caught on purpose, just to get a proper parental reaction out of her neglectful alcoholic mom. Her mom pretended to be mad in front of the manager, but in reality she has no respect for the law and was actually surprised and impressed by her goody-two-shoes daughter, so she swiped the earrings when the manager wasn't looking, perhaps as a way of trying to buy her daughter's love. But Kim was shocked and maybe disappointed she wasn't going to actually be punished.

Partially. It wasn't planned and after seeing her mother's reaction and being proud sorta, Kim associated breaking bad with getting love.

As far as Jimmy happening to see the Judge goes, I'm pretty sure that liquor store is meant to be right near the courthouse, as is Saul's new office. So it isn't too much of a stretch to say that they could both be there at the same time. What I don't get is why the Judge was in a liquor store at 9am. Alcoholic, much?
Maybe the judge was just buying a bottle as a present for someone he was going to meer later at lunch, or something.
They said the judge was basically retired, though. Just gets called in to oversee the occasional case like this one.

The guy with the axe was Casper from Werner's team (the biggest of his guys), he may have cared about Werner more than any of the others. He also got pretty close to Gus, Lalo, and Bolsa when they were being used to build that chicken freezer as a cover story. He was the one Gus asked to bring Mike over so he could be introduced to Lalo.
The "this is what its all about" Kim said while the camera focused on the ABQ isotopes car scent is the same one that the taxi cab driver had in his cab when he picked up "Gene" from the hospital. Wonder if its alluding to what's in store for Gene regarding his involvement with the Taxi driver in the future, foreboding to say the least...
So about this, they also name-dropped Omaha Beach a couple times, and Omaha, NE is also where Gene ends up. It's also close to where Kim grew up. There's very clearly a connection between all of it. They also have been very intentionally framing Jimmy/Saul/Gene behind bars for a few seasons. But they've added Kim to those shots ever since she fully broke bad. I cannot wait for the conclusion to all these little hints.

I think that Franchesca call is a callback to a scene in BrB. Saul and Franchesca also made a questionable call in that alley in BrB and she said she isn't getting paid enough for that.
Hey you cant pin that stuff on jimmy. At one point Kim stated in the past she wanted to be on the up and up about stuff AND it was there plan together. calling her was right ,that he did it the second after it happened was out of an impulse,not mal-intent of any kind and he genijuly insisted that she go through with her stuff.
No, that is ALL on Kim. Her Decision, her consequences. At any point she could say "screw it, this is to risky, i am out" and you know jimmy would let her and finish the plan alone.
Jimmy calling Kim in the ending is less like him manipulating Kim and more like him doing things without measuring the consequences of his actions. Because that’s the essence of his character. He did something and it blew up with ended up hurting other people and himself.
This stuck with him to his Breaking Bad day when he unknowingly helped Walt poisoning Brock which was the beginning of the end of his career.
While I agree at your take on Jimmy, I think that the point of the phone call is to show Kim's decision to commit to what she knows is wrong, but wants, just like when she was a kid and faced no consequences about the shoplifting, she is heading to that now, by her own means, and let's.not forget that she was the one who pushed this Howard thing into Saul.
@@MetalIsNotOver It works both ways. On one hand, Kim is her own worst enemy. On the other hand, Jimmy’s impulses always ends up hurting other people because he lacks maturity and doesn’t see the dire consequences that could happen because of his actions.
Both assessments are right, imo. It's like the aspects that ultimately hurt each character compliment each other in the relationship and they're probably the best/worst couple because of it. It feels more and more Saul doesn't become the Saul we know in BB without Kim pushing him and his buttons; which is really good writing.
And I think Jimmy called Kim and let her know what's up because they're a team, and Jimmy was not going to change the plan without Kim's agreement. The last time he changed a plan without her permission (the Mesa Verde thing), she almost broke up with him. Granted this is a very different situation, but I think he remembers that and doesn't want to make the same mistake again.

"Axe and grind" (not to be confused with "axe to grind) is an industrial/ business term meaning a competitor having an advantage over another competitor. I'm paraphrasing, but that's one way to describe it.

A lot of this season’s episode titles seem to have double meanings. I think the “grind” refers partly to coffee.

I'm clinically diagnosed with adhd, and watching a tv show have never been much fun for me since I can't catch onto some details. But ever since I started watching your reactions (breaking bad Season 1 up to this episode of BCS), I've been catching onto the things that I've been missing. It's just so great that you guys do this reactions, seriously ^_^
@41:22 - Albuquerque is super small compared to other cities. The population is only around a million, probably way smaller than Indianapolis. If you consider that the people who regularly work at that cities courthouse as a small circle, it wouldn't be that far fetched of an idea that the same faces from that courthouse would run into each other a lot.
At the start of this series I never thought I would be rooting for a high priced, salesman type millionaire lawyer but....go Howard!

Prediction: Everything somehow works for Kim and Jimmy until Howard dies of a heart attack from whatever Jimmy spikes Howard's drink with.
Also I saw another video where it was pointed out that the earring Kim got as a kid for shoplifting is the same she's worn for the entire series!
They're gonna succeed, remember in the opening of the first episode, Saul can afford that glamorous office, I think it's safe to assume that it's Sandpiper money.
But at the cost of Kim (maybe She ended up in jail or get The Best Vacuum Cleaner), because there are bras and viagra and whatnot, hinting that Kim is no longer with Saul. And in the flashback, Kim gets away with it, hinting that this time, She will not.

The hardest part about watching the “Kim Wexler is probably going to die show” is knowing that Kim Wexler is probably going to die. I cant believe its been 6 seasons and she is still alive. I want her to live.

Kim is 100 percent in charge. Last thing she said was. What's more important than that? Then Jimmy calls. Howard is obviously not sleeping will not handle the effects. He doesn't even drink coffee. Also, the color of Howard's car makes me suspicious of him.

That story of the guy falling through the roof isn't true, it's from the movie Liar Liar. Burglars have attempted to sue homeowners but none have been successful. No judge would make a homeowner sue a burglar
Lalo definitely is meeting one of Verner's guys. In the scene where Verner's guys are leaving New Mexico, the guy in this episode is the one who walked up to Mike and said "He was worth 50 of you."
As far as color theory - Saul is represented by orange, while Howard is represented by blue which are opposite colors on the color wheel. It kind of plays into the Breaking Bad theme of blue representing the color of people who are hurting.

Jimmy doesn't know about Howard's PI. He had the photos of him and the fake judge taken himself. By his film crew. How did you miss this?

I think they're saying the Howard's PI is actually in on Jimmy's con somehow. The PI will take these photos to Howard and claim they're proof of Jimmy bribing the judge. Howard will fall for it, accuse the judge, and make a fool of himself. I think I believe this theory too, because the photos look very similar to the PI's photos, and what other reason would they be making the photos for?

If the shop owner had called the cops on Kim, then she would have had a criminal record for shoplifting, HHM wouldn't have financed her education (just like they denied giving a scholarship to that other girl, Christy Esposito, for being a "shoplifter")and she probably wouldn't have become a lawyer.

@@fredriknydahl7580 a couple of seasons ago, Jimmy looked like he was turning Kim off with his "activities"... then he has a stroke of comedic genius in the courtroom, and it worked, and she was turned on.... took him to the staircase and jumped our boy Jimmy. I did not expect that! I thought she was for sure gonna be like: "maybe we should see other people..."
And it was at that moment I stated with pride: "HOMEGIRL IS CAHRAZY!!!!" And I instantly loved her, and the actor playing her more!!!! WTH we gonna do when this show ends?!?!?!

I think Howard's wife being so careless with the coffee was a juxtaposition to Howard being so neat and careful to make the perfect coffee. His marriage troubles are definitely not anyone else's fault.
Interestingly enough, in order for the real D-Day to be successful, it had to be post-poned and pushed to a later date due to foul weather. Sooo...this is not good. Should've called it off to live and fight another day.

I’m pretty sure they used a voice blend or at least a voice coach to make Kim’s mom sound just like her. I agree that this has been drawn out, but I feel like in hindsight we will get why it matters. This show has always had “building” episodes, but after the Nacho drama this seems a little frivolous. I have faith that when Vince said that this ending is better than BB, that we will agree. We have missed this and other shows so much that expectations are getting in the way of just trusting the vision. They could have gone the GOT route and tried to wrap this whole series up in 7 episodes instead of giving us extra time and anticipation for the big reveal and ultimate consequences. I’ll take the latter. Any day.

A lot of you most be very unenjoyable to watch a show with. Do y'all sit there and take notes while you watch and super analyze every single detail. Not everyone picks up on everything the first time.

36:05 In Germany, you can't legally kill people just because they come onto your property. If someone threatens you with a weapon, of course you can defend yourself.
But the scenes were clearly not filmed in Germany. And the man with the axe is not a native German speaker. That destroys the immersion a bit for me. But I guess it works for non-Germans.
He was born in Cologne and speaks the language. Maybe not fluently, but he can speak it.
@@maximilianhartmann4807 Anyhow, he has a distinct accent that a native speaker would not have. And Werner's wife, Margarethe, has an Austrian dialect. In addition, there are many details like the air conditioning, the light switches or the windows that are all atypical. All of this adds up to a strange "Germany" that feels like it's from a parallel world.😅 But as I said, for most of the world, of course, it works.

A humble suggestion, your reactions could be even better if Rana could give natural reactions. No offence but it seems like she is shouting and screaming on even the tiniest of things which can become annoying after a point.
It was not a great episode. This does not feel like a final season and after Nacho I find it hard to care. I don't really care what they are doing at HHM.
To be fair, Breaking Bad season 5A didn't feel like a final season either.
I'm disappointed in the Saul/Kim/Howard scheme...it's poorly written. It's either an incredibly weak scheme that can be discovered and blown up with ease, or it's an overly-complicated scheme that is in no way believable. This show is usually smarter than this.
You’re in the minority
The over-complicated nature of their plans has worked in their favor before. Chuck looked like a complete jackass up there, even though he figured Jimmy's plan out, to the letter. The ball is in Howards court on D day. Its only by chance that the judge happened to have broken his arm recently. 99% of the time this plan could have gone off without a hitch. But because of that inconvenient little set back, Howard now has all he needs to put two and two together. Its all going to hinge on the way he responds in that board room later
We don't even fully know what the scheme is. As for overly-complicated... you think Jimmy hasn't done that before? He had Huel plant a battery on Chuck, IN COURT. He had a double sit in for his client to trick a witness and a judge. Jimmy dressing up as Howard isn't out of possibility. Especially with Kim ENCOURAGING this kind of behavior?! We're going to see things we've never seen this with this duo.

Then quit watching. Have you seen all the other seasons? There are ALWAYS building episodes. And always in the middle of the season. They have never once had “bing, bam,boom” episodes from start to finish. Why would expect anything different. AND they always pay off in the end. Everything they are showing is necessary for the plot. What do you want, a GOT season 8 ending?
