Unique Risky Finish at this Cup of the Day!

- Yesterday at TrackMania's Cup of the Day, we played a very tricky dirt map!
The map itself felt rather oldschool and classic, but also difficult to drive. Furthermore, the map had a very interesting risky finish where it was possible to skip a ramp in order to hit a red boost. The finish was really cool and, sadly, more complicated than I thought at the beginning...
Cup of the Day (COTD) is the biggest competition in TrackMania with thousands of players each day that is getting played on the latest Track of the Day being available for everyone with a paid access to the game.
Format explanation:
-15min time attack seeding
-players will be put into divisions of 64 according to the final ranking after the seeding
-knockout mode of these 64 players in each division until 1 player wins with the following knockout repartition: 64-17 players = 4 KOs/round; 16-9 players = 2 KOs/round; 8-2 players = 1 KO/round

I like the solo and vc content, both have advantages
From viewer perspective: COTD absolutely needs to change. It's very boring to watch. Even in vods i check "discovery" that is first 5 mins of quali, then last min of quali and then i jump to last 5-10 mins. First of all it's way too slow. Should start with 8 KOs instead of 4. Maybe even less discovery time. I also think that it should award more risk and full send. Not sure how to implement that tho.
Last interesting COTD was the one everyone complained about with that turbo fast map with water ending :D
to be fair it is not designed for viewers, it's for players who actually pay for it. faster knockouts would mean those paying customers get less play time. it's trivial for streamers to set up their own tournaments with their own rules. no need to "fix" the *only* popular feature in the game.
I agree wirh rumfor. I personally wouldnt like playing cotd with 8 knockouts per round. I'm usually a slow learner, but consistent. Maybe thats cuz im getting older but also maybe i'm just biased cuz of my learning style.
From a viewer perspective I understand, but that is not up to nadeo to improve but the streamers/youtubers imo.
Although I do feel like cotd and/or
TM in general could use a change beside new cars, but simply a 8 ko round wouldnt do the trick. It would only make the most fun part of TM less enjoyable imo
@@stefdemafsteim not even sure if it needs any big change at all. I think people should just accept that trackmania just isn’t a game for the mainstream. It is what it is. And it’s just natural that it can’t maintain its artificially inflated player count.
I still enjoy watching them because it’s fun to see other peoples’ experience with the track when you’ve also played it yourself. Maybe they could introduce a special format for cotd once per week or something but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it right now. Sounds like you have a low attention span
It's fine with either voice or solo. It's nice having the other ok bois in the call for fun moments and more conversations, but it's also nice to see you interact with chat more. I don't think you play better or worse when you aren't in vc, so I would say if it happens it happens.

didn't watch cotd for a while but since a few weeks Im watching most of them again. that said, map choice certainly is the deciding factor and there were some really interesting ones, aries' for example 😅
Voice chat is fun, I just get a bit annoyed that you don't help your buddies with tips at ALL, they always ask and you kinda ignore them hahaha

It’s just 80% grass and dirt tech. Left right leg right left right small jump fin. That’s so crazy boring. I mean it’s trackmania, you got a car that can go 1000kmh and jump 200m. But you choose the most boring possible.

Cotd is too long, and the format never changing is kinda lame. It would be hard to switch things up while keeping the cup daily, but it might be necessary.
