It's too bad the N64 logo that crushed Jar Jar Binks was blown up, that one was a true hero. Also, it's a bit surprising that Nintendo allowed all of these portrayals of the destruction of their logo to be in games as they used to be uptight about anything that could potentially be perceived as disrespect being shown toward them. At least they seemed to lighten up a bit.

While not an example dealing with logos, Nintendo's former policy of demanding exclusivity contracts with third-party developers led to threats regarding perceived disrespect when those developers would so much as even mention them being required to sign such contracts. Revealing that information was viewed as disrespectful by Nintendo because it hurt the amiable brand image they had cultivated by revealing that they were actually acting like douchebags behind the scenes. Even though it was actually Nintendo hurting their own image with such policies, they took it out on the developers and threatened to take away their ability to release games for the NES for their perceived disrespect for the company. Former Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi was a rather eccentric and vindictive person who was really protective of the company's image. If he weren't president of a game company, he probably could have made a rather interesting gangster. Oddly enough, he was still in charge during the N64 era. Maybe he was just too busy obsessively talking trash about Sony at the time to worry about how Nintendo logos were being treated in games.

Rare showed Nintendo how good Silicon Graphics workstations were. Thats when Nintendo invested in them and Rare basically helped Nintendo design the Nintendo 64's processing and graphics capabilities. Part of the reason Rare went from good to great was because they already knew how to code for the Nintendo 64 before anyone else outside of Rare or Nintendo.

The N64 era was to Nintendo what the Genesis era was to Sega; an era where they got to show off the creative things that could be done with their logo depending on the game.
Man developers really didn't like that logo. So far it has been chainsawed in half.. Blown up, crushed, some games burned it, shot to pieces or straight up smashed to bits
If Shantae had an N64 intro, it would be that Shantae would be sleeping on one of the logo's sides and eventually wake up. Shantae then looks at the player, gets up, starts giggling, and then jumps off, only for Sky to fly over the logo, Rottytops jumps from behind the logo while digging, and Bolo creates a hole into one of the sides of the logo. Everyone gets startled and Shantae rushes up to the camera and grabs it like a cell phone as if she will take a selfie, only to the turn into a tiger as she runs around the Wayforward logo behind the camera originally.

Nintendo dropped the ball big time by not holding on to Rare. Both sides are still reeling from that call. Microsoft has done next to nothing with them.
Rare being bought by Microsoft was my first big disappointment as a gamer, even though I was fully on the Xbox train after the transition off the N64. You could tell immediately that the quality dropped off (Star Fox Adventures on the GameCube was better then anything they then released on Xbox)
Both companies were going different directions. Nintendo has always been about creativity and being the "innovative use of withered technology," but Rare was starting to want a bigger budget for their games, and Nintendo wouldnt give in. Microsoft saw the opportunity and decided to give the Stamper family an offer that no one would go near, so Microsoft took the loss on a company that was already starting to lose its creative edge in the first place.

This logo at the beginning of any game was something special, the creativity of those videogames companies just gave it the perfect touch.
