This show did to me something that no movie or show did in years. The pure second hand embarrassment being too much so I need to pause it just to take it all in. It really reminded me of when I was a little kid and something on the tv was too cringe for me (in a good way) that I needed to look away. Trully one of the best British sitcoms I've ever watched.

No idea why I was recommended this video but very glad I was. Peep Show is my favourite comedy of all time and I can just tell from the clips/examples used that you have an exceptional taste in comedy. Just the one second shot of Hank Scorpio as an example of the Simpsons' sublime characterization of one-off characters made me laugh. You just earned a new subscriber.

I always liked how they handled Daryl. A lesser show would have him being overtly rude and unpleasant, but Peep Show has him realistically personable - awkwardly ‘complimenting’ Johnson and confiding in Mark - only for Mark to desperately writhe away from having an actual conversation.
first time i tried to watch Peep Show, I couldn't get through the first episode. now I think it might be one of my favourite shows. it's similar, yet so different to most comedies i like.

The opening sequence where they look into the bank of television screens is in Crouch End, near Hornsey town hall in North London, and I also often think of this when I walk past it. The filming was done all over London, with other bits in Crouch End and lots in West London. The famous flat is indeed in Croydon.

I feel the best sitcoms are ones that elevate reality to a degree that is still grounded. Peep Show, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld, Community, Atlanta, these are some of my favs and they all use that similar tactic of embracing the surreal to make observations about our world and how ridiculous it really is. Great video!
I love this show so much, but the weird thing is generally don't like sitcoms or much comedy at all. Peep Show just resonated with me. Maybe its the darkness of the humour, or the amazing side characters. Or the fact that I can see parts of Mark and Jeremy in myself (mostly Mark if I'm being honest). Who knows, I just know I barley stopped laughing the first time I watched it all.
Peep show is a favourite of mine but its weird coming back to now knowing more about whos behind it. David Mitchel is the open minded part of the duo, and Robert Webb is the bigot who freaks out about anything doesnt fit his world view. It still makes sense casting wise, webs got hat laid back look, and michel is well mitchel. Just kinds funny who despitd dojng these roles so flawlessly for year they arent anything like their characters.
I agree, it's the best British sitcom. But for me the best stand alone episode of any sitcom, one that is the complete package, has to be the IT Crowd episode, The Work Outing.

Some of the cringier parts are excruciating, it's like if every episode of The Office was Scott's Tots. Hopefully you can eventually hack the cringe enough to watch full episodes, the twists and turns in the storytelling are one of the best parts of the series!

Idk debatable, Allo' Allo' still holds up hard, same as the Young Ones, IT crowd? come on now. I like Peep show the only thing that bugged me was the mid 2000's hipster dippster geek sheik thing they were trying to do with Dobbie, and the one thing that always ruins a good comedy show for me is when I watch to many eps in a row is how everyone is always trying to hump each other. Like who cares, it's so boring, its lazy writing with predictable story arch's and low hanging jokes for the most part. Not everyone has to be fucking to be a relatable or interesting character. Marks Napoleone jokes are classic tho.
It wasn’t by any shake of the imagination the greatest comedy ever. It was good but predictable, and honestly it was one of them shows you think you could write yourself ( obviously couldn’t). The best sitcom ever is something so far ahead you know you couldn’t write yourself, like a Bob Dylan song. Don’t expect many people to get that.
