When I use a trash pump to dredge I always stick to the rule that the pumps intake should be at least half again The size of my intake nozzle for example if I want to run a 2 inch dredge nozzle I would run at least a 3 inch full trash pump neck it down to 1.5inches in two stages first stage neck it down to 2 inches right at the discharge on the pump run a 2 inch pressure line to the nozzle at the nozzle neck it down to inch and a half if you want to get farther from your sluice box you can always add another power jet in line go to Harbor freight by one 3 inch trash pump and 2 2"trash pumps and you can dredge at a maximum depth of around 60 feet this will still cost you less than half of an equivalent dredge pump from Keene engineering
You have a winner there my friend...just wait till you get in a creek and start sucking up gravel, you will be amazed. The cam lock fittings are the way to go, I spent a career using trash pumps and those fittings. Give it a try up in gold country. Great video.
I tried that with the trash pump I have a dredge and a high banker I tried to adapt to trash pump to the high banker. It didn’t have a third of the suction as a dredge does. It should suck a lot better than it does. I thought it was something I was doing but after watching your video, I think it’s the PSI coming out of the trash pump.
I'm not sure what PSI I had, But right after this video I got a Honda pump that was even better than this chinese piece of crap from the video. It worked much better.
I'm sure you already figured this out but you are correct that the trash pump doesn't provide as much pressure as a standard dredge pump. Also elevation of highbanker is critical, keep as low to your workings as possible. 3rd, your line angle going into the HB shouldn't have the sudden change as is creates a "back" pressure.
Get rid of the lay flat hose and use pressure hose. you also need to get rid of the cam locks. All you have is a bottle neck that will stop up. run the suction hose straight into the high banker nad you will have a lot better results. Fix the cam lock hose so it can be removed with a few winged nuts. Using a dredge pump will greatly improve your set up as well. Hope this helps.
+AU Dredger Hello I have a 3" promack/ highbanker combo have all the 3" lay flat hose I need just need 3"suction hose and 2" pressure hose. Any recommendation on how much is needed for the suction nozzle? will suction hose work for the 2" pressure or does it have to be a pressure hose and what PSi for pressure? email me if that's better and I can send pics Rakorakozy@gmail.com
+Mark Rakozy Dont use lay flat for anything, it is like a balloon when it come to high pressure situations. I ended up getting a 20 foot high pressure hose. but I don't think this length matters if my understanding of fluid dynamics is correct. if the pump and high banker are at the same elevation, theoretically, you could use whatever length you want. I have another video up here with the final product, it works great.
+AlienAmerican thanks for the advice... the lay flat works good for just going from pump to the highbanker and shoveling into the hopper but need a suction nozzle setup. I wish I could post pictures so i can show ya what i'm workin with. any links on where to get 2" pressure hose going to nozzle and 3" suction hose going into hopper?
yea hooking ur suction hose upon the hopper with out that camloc will increase suction ! and check suction with the hose disconected looks like it flowed better ! thats why they make flairs on boxes now days more suction! get rid of that camloc and put that hose on pvc directly !
That's "screwed" up. (Couldn't help my self) - gotta give you guys "E" for effort and kudos for your accomplishment of building your nozzle giving it the ole college try. Good job!
get rid of the camlock on the hopper ! nobuano! just a piece of tubing and a hose clamp , i use the camlock on pump in and outlet! but not on box and try solid pressure line ! look on my channel check my lil set up out
You know what brother you could probably find gold in Stockton if you look hard enough. I live in lowa but I'm originally from Tracy pop's worked at Holly sugar most of my life. I should have stayed there. I didn't catch the fever until I came to lowa. Completely gold less state.
AlienAmerican OK no prob... Well if you ever find time to head north go to stoney gulch out at swasey recreational area just out side of redding... I won't say exactly where but maybe youl find a spot
That area produces up to 1 lb nuggets... There very well could be bigger ones... I tried going to some areas around auburn down south but I didn't have much luck
Olá , belo trabalho . Só me falta uma mangueira desta mais grossa que você está usando . Por favor poderia me dizer o nome desta mangueira por gentileza para que eu tente encontrar aqui no Brasil ? Desde já meu muito obrigado .
+djpitr Thanks for watching Brother. The final version works like a charm as well, my son and I got it out in the field a couple weeks ago and let her rip. ua-cam.com/video/yQ2-nSvS4C0/v-deo.html
Gonna have to move up to a high pressure unit or at least a Honda GX 120 trash pump. Im running a 2 1/2 inch noz with my Honda and it works fine, my buddy tried with his knock off 2 inch (harbor freight) does not work.
Same here....The 2" Harbor Freight Trash Pump DOES NOT make the pressure needed by a 2" nozzle....... *IT WON'T WORK* .... Gallons per hour and PSI are NOT THE SAME THING. I wasted money by cheaping out on the pump.....
isn't the long inside pvc affecting the way the materials go into you sluce? also I hate to break this to you that ANY RIVER IN CA. it is against the law to VACUUME the river bottom, sides bank up to 100 yds from the river in 2010 i came up with a motor-less, suction dredge and a ranger showed up and agreed with me on it not being a dredge that at that time was not regulated so now they entered into the regulation as no vacuuming of the river period.
+keith dovichi Yes Sir, the PVC stuff was messing me up. This was just my first prototype, it has since gone through several revisions. And technically, this test wasn't on a river, on the Delta. But you are correct, blah blah, laws, regulations, blah blah. Civil Disobedience.
+keith dovichi BTW if it was me i would pull down your test in the stream big brother is also watching. just saying and another thing you can buy the adpt.. for the high banker from keene
Just wanted to say I think it's funny when you know that you bought all of that from harbor freight instead of some fancy name brand place like home Depot or Lowe's and spent good money on it cause me and others that I'm sure that shop there know it's from there, and actually pretty good equipment I know this cause I own it and a fairly good price cause I've priced it all as have others as did your self or you wouldn't have bought it but then to appease to some higher virtue apparently cause you feel that it is some how inferior to others when quite frankly people that spend more on the equipment are idiots, call it "trashy" when honestly if you would have spend 900$ on it instead if the 100-200$ on it that you did it probably would have worked the same if not worst for future reference when you spend your hard earned money on something which I'm sure you worked for the money I'm assuming I know most of us have maybe you should think twice about calling it "trashy" because for one, it does nothing but make you look stupid and incompetent and like a jackass that wastes money on "trashy" equipment it's just my opinion of course but I just think it's funny that the new stuff you just bought with your hard earned money "trashy" when in all actuality the equipment actually works pretty good so next time save yourself and all of us the trouble of having to hear you wine about your "trashy" equipment that is actually quite nice and you should be greatful to have, but either you don't care for the money you worked hard for or you didn't and that explains a lot!!
Did I call it "trashy"? I do have a tendency to be self deprecating. The highbanker I got used, but I love my little setup. Too bad right about the time i perfected the setup, using any kind of pump became illegal, and has just been sitting. Thank you for watching, and I'll try to keep the "whining " to a minimum in the future.

AU Dredger, thanks for the tip bro. I 86'ed the roll flat for a high pressure hose. the final product works great.

Bill K. Thanks Bill, I definitely learned a lot from this test run.

Thanks for all the tips guys. Looks like my camlock idea worked better in my head than in reality.
I use camlocks with no problem. see my other notes. I suspect you've worked it out by now though
+talonspoint I have Brother. thanks. it works great.

I am so liking your stuff, I do the cam locks on all mine too, way cool.
CSIDecon This set-up really worked out well once I got the right hoses. Someone can highbank and suck at the same time.
If you want to see the final version, check out my "child slave labor" video.
Wonder if you guys did any up dates on this
That's "screwed" up. (Couldn't help my self) - gotta give you guys "E" for effort and kudos for your accomplishment of building your nozzle giving it the ole college try. Good job!
The final version worked really well. And then California made it so we can't even use a highbanker.
get rid of the camlock on the hopper ! nobuano! just a piece of tubing and a hose clamp , i use the camlock on pump in and outlet! but not on box and try solid pressure line ! look on my channel check my lil set up out
Hi, Is it possible to do a dedgre with a 12-24-48v electric pump? If anyone knows anything please let me know, thank you!
hi that looks good. how much hp do you have pump power ?. I want to make it too
Have you gotten a stronger pump setup?
You know what brother you could probably find gold in Stockton if you look hard enough. I live in lowa but I'm originally from Tracy pop's worked at Holly sugar most of my life. I should have stayed there. I didn't catch the fever until I came to lowa. Completely gold less state.
Almost got it great video :)
Hi there, where did you find those connectors?? How do you call them (just in case if i want keywords to do a search on web and ebay)?? Good setup :)
BIGDIG Reviews they're camlock fittings.
I know a few spots where that would work great up by redding... some thumb size nugget producing spots
Thanks for the tip Brother. Redding is a little far for me, with my work schedule, I only have one to two days a month I can mine right now.
ua-cam.com/video/yQ2-nSvS4C0/v-deo.html
check out the final product. it works great.

lower the slope in your highbanker and shorten the pvc going into your highbanker see if that works better

Hello interesting to do prospecting, how many inches is the water pump? and the hoses, greetings from Argentina
2.5 inch pump and hoses. This is a small set up. I've seen them up to 8 inches. Good Luck. Gracias por su preferencia.
very nice thanks

I have other videos of it working. I have since replaced it with a Honda pump, but only because the Honda's are about 20 pounds lighter.
IF you have a 1-1/2 pressure hose you can use a smaller motor
I think you mean ENGINE!
Hey thanks for getting back with me on that a YEAR later LOL :)
Looks like you need to cut a hole in that screen that's going to get clogged up the one in the highbanker
It will move material but not a hell of a lot. Need to move most rocks then vacuum, rake rocks vacuum rake rocks vacuum
Me and my youngest are just getting into prospecting we're local here in Manteca too bad you can't do any dredging in California anymore
You're right, dredging is "illegal". People are still highbanking though. Do you have land to mine or are you a member of any clubs?
Those fittings are your primary problem!!
Yeah, I got it figured out. It worked nicely after I got the fittings and hoses correct.
Been having the same problem l gave up
my home made highbanker does all that too now, check mine out if ya want.
isn't the long inside pvc affecting the way the materials go into you sluce?

For? Was this something you've been trying to get to work?
talk to me
Ok.
si buenas las dos mangueras y la punta del tubo dónde lo puedo buscar

Could have tested it in a kiddie pool first!!!any ole dirt will work.
need a pressure pump .
Cam locks reduce your suction
Buen video y explicativo, de como funciona ¡ Felicitaciones ! Solo la filmación al principio, no fué buena, movimientos bruscos con la cámara.
I lik
Me dejó mareado de tanto que mueve la cámara o el celular.
im dizzy bud...that cameraaa...
Yeah, not my best work. Sorry.
Your lucky you didn't get caught.
This was in the middle of Stockton, no one would have questioned me.

Good grief dude, learn how to pan a camera!
Just one thing among many I need to learn. :-D
You're swinging this camera and phone like a broom, slow down, man, slow hand movements will make better videos
