    Very interesting! Thank you for posting this video. 👍👍 I have a few questions regarding its capabilities (and also how it compares to UVI Falcon in these regards).
    1. Is it possible to add your own samples of instruments and/or input instrument sounds from other VSTs into the A,B,C and D slots?
    2. Is it possible to output each of the four instruments separately (with its arp, etc) into four different external VSTs for further effects processing?
    3. Is there a way to apply some form of automated movement of the cursor on the x-y Cartesian grid to change the mix between A,B,C & D as you are playing?
    4. Is it possible to link arp sequences together e.g. Instrument A sequence#1 will play 'x' times, then Instrument A sequence#2 will play 'x' times, etc...and the same for Instrument B sequence#1, then Instrument B sequence#2 and so on...?
    Thanks!

      You can't compare this to falcon really... its a library much like a kontakt library. Basically a sound set but with a custom GUI that uses LUA Scripting for all the extra functionality... not unlike KSP scripts in Kontakt. You're not going to be adding your own stuff into this... but if you get Falcon you essentially can do pretty much everything that Quadra does but with your own sounds and samples. You've got all the sequencers and arps on hand... of course its a little more work doing it that way as you'd have to build your patches yourself.

      Don't think this one has multiple outs, although you can load multiple instances of Quadra in UVI Workstation or Falcon and assign each to its own output... as for automation you can assign host automation to the XY pads and automate it in your DAW. The sequencer linking... I'm not sure I follow, but they play concurrently together. You have four banks of 16 steps per part. They all start at the same point, but you can have different lengths and time signatures for each of them so you can get some pretty cool polyrhythmic stuff with them.

    I've had problems with the arpeggio bass line lagging a sixteenth note behind the chord being played. I have two measures of a Cm7 chord followed by 2 measures of a Dm7 chord in a loop. I carefully quantized to ensure that each chord started at the start of it's two measures. I also tried changing the chords so they stopped a 16th note short of the end of the measure but it didn't help. The bass line plays a C on the first beat of the Dm7 measure and a D on the first beat of the Cm7 chord. I went into the arpeggiator for the bass line in these cases and noticed a couple of things: The recognized chord seems to be a 16th note behind the played chord - at least as displayed in the arpeggiator. I also noticed that the bass notes all had type "Single". No description anywhere as far as I can see of what that means. If I change the note type to "lowest" then it jumps up a couple of octaves (I assume because it's the lowest note of the chord I played) but plays the correct C at the start of the Cm7 chord and D at the start of the Dm7 chord. If I change the octaves to drop it a couple it works just as I expect. So my question is, what is the "Basic" type and why does it screw up the first note of my chords? Any ideas?

      Make sure you've got the midi effect turned off... Sounds like the delay or pitch delay is enabled.

      I've also found that the Euclidean Emphasis has the same problem. I have a workaround for the main arpeggiator as noted but can't seem to fix the Euclidean Emphasis short of shutting it off. BTW, I'm working in Bitwig if it makes any difference - hopefully not.

    Hello! Can you tell if this library is editable inside falcon if needed or is it locked (like drone, meteor or asteroid fx)
    thanks in advance!

  • @reallyreallyfreemusic

    Is it possible to export the MIDI to a DAW? Also, can the various controls be automated in a DAW? For example, can I sync the Blend thingy to an automation control in Cubase so the circle moves accordingly in real time? Nice video. Thanks!

    • @MarulaMusic
      @MarulaMusic  2 роки тому +1

      Yes you can, however they're not pre-mapped to automation controls. You'll most likely need to right clicka control, assign it to a host auomation slot, then enable wqrite automation and move the controller to record any automation in your DAW.

      @@MarulaMusic Thanks. Also, I see that each of the 4 instruments in a preset has a record button that will allow one to record and export that instrument's MIDI to a DAW.

    Sounded pretty good up to Part D - a little too farty of a voice, IMNSHO. But hey - thanks for the vid. I'm considering this product as I had been looking at Heaviocity Ascend for awhile but didn't need another piano. I think this could do a lot of the same if used subtlely behind my favorite piano. Cheers.

    • @MarulaMusic
      @MarulaMusic  3 роки тому +2

      I agree yeah, kinda wanted to show as much range as possible though. This really shines on more organic and delicate material... the expression dial on the main page lets you play these arps like you would a string library which would work perfectly as you say behind a piano.

    • @Garflips
      @Garflips 3 роки тому +1

      @@MarulaMusic I wonder if you could answer a specific question about Quadra. With reference to my using it with a virtual piano to add the "Ascend" or "Noire" effect... do you think the sequencer/phraser can be used to mute the initial note output by Quadra such that it wouldn't output at the same instance as my piano voice attack? I noticed the velocity settings for each step... so maybe if the first velocity step was lowered to minimum, that would allow the piano - or whatever the principle voice is - to stand somewhat alone? Hope I'm making sense. Cheers.

    • @MarulaMusic
      @MarulaMusic  3 роки тому +1

      @@Garflips Yeah totally, that would work for sure, although in arp mode you're not getting a retrigger for each keypress. I'd probably play around with a simple sidechain on Quadra that is set up to trigger from the piano otherwise.

    • @Garflips
      @Garflips 3 роки тому +1

      @@MarulaMusic Right. I'm picking this up despite the fact I'd like to load my own samples. I'm sure I'll play around with Texture and Objeq Delay on left hand parts using a split keyboard while sending the right hand to a non-arped Quadra voice or other VSTi. There's a lot of possibilities here.

    Does it allow us to create using odd time signatures or polyrhytms ?

    • @MarulaMusic
      @MarulaMusic  3 роки тому

      Yeah sure, each arp has its own signature speed and length. Plus you can mix that with the Euclidean sequence as well which adds. Further variations.

    As a music machine, there is no percussion, mostly strings. With four layers it would be cool to add drums or claps to the Euclidean sequencer...am I missing something?

    • @MarulaMusic
      @MarulaMusic  3 роки тому +1

      Its focused around pluck sounds only... if you own Falcon, adding in percussion elements is no problem. YOu can load pretty much any percussion you want into the sampler and trigger them with the Euclydian Rythym scripts. Just load up a fresh part, drag in your drums on a key group, and then at program level under the events tab add in 'script processor - sequencing - euclidean drums'.

    I guess UVI is jumping on the 'quad engine' bandwagon (along with Cinesamples, Sample Logic and others). It seems like what they've done is take the basic Falcon engine, strip out most of the synthesis features, then load it with pads created from the samples from their other sample libraries (I believe I recognize several UVI World instruments in this). My guess is we'll see a bunch of Quadra releases - each with samples from their other libraries grouped based on particular qualities - in this case muted and harmonic sounds. Seems like using 4 instances of Falcon along with Unify and DAW automation and effects will give more creative possibilities, but the Quadra line would be ideal for composers on a deadline, or anyone who doesn't want to take a deep dive into Falcon. Any thoughts? (I don't have Falcon or Unify or Quadra, but am looking at them all and do have some other UVI sample libraries.) Thanks for the helpful demo!

    • @MarulaMusic
      @MarulaMusic  3 роки тому

      You're right, technically you wouldn't have to even use unify... Falcon can handle multiple instances of their arps per patch. That said, there is a ton of fresh content and it's a really neat and easy package that gets you results quickly... Yeah you could do it in Falcon but if you have quadra, it's instant inspiration. There's some clever scripting like the Euclidean sequencer blending with the arppegiator.
